1 And he seide to hem also a parable, that it bihoueth to preye euer more, and not faile;
1 Disse-lhes Jesus uma parábola sobre o dever de orar sempre e nunca esmorecer:
2 and seide, There was a iuge in a citee, that dredde not God, nether schamede of men.
2 Havia em certa cidade um juiz que não temia a Deus, nem respeitava homem algum.
3 And a widowe was in that citee, and sche cam to hym, and seide, Venge me of myn aduersarie;
3 Havia também, naquela mesma cidade, uma viúva que vinha ter com ele, dizendo: Julga a minha causa contra o meu adversário.
4 and he wolde not longe tyme. But aftir these thingis he seide with ynne hym silf, Thouy Y drede not God, and schame not of man,
4 Ele, por algum tempo, não a quis atender; mas, depois, disse consigo: Bem que eu não temo a Deus, nem respeito a homem algum;
5 netheles for this widewe is heuy to me, Y schal venge hir; lest at the laste sche comynge condempne me.
5 todavia, como esta viúva me importuna, julgarei a sua causa, para não suceder que, por fim, venha a molestar-me.
6 And the Lord seide, Here ye, what the domesman of wickidnesse seith;
6 Então, disse o Senhor: Considerai no que diz este juiz iníquo.
7 and whether God schal not do veniaunce of hise chosun, criynge to hym dai and nyyt, and schal haue pacience in hem?
7 Não fará Deus justiça aos seus escolhidos, que a ele clamam dia e noite, embora pareça demorado em defendê-los?
8 Sotheli Y seie to you, for soone he schal do veniaunce of hem. Netheles gessist thou, that mannus sone comynge schal fynde feith in erthe?
8 Digo-vos que, depressa, lhes fará justiça. Contudo, quando vier o Filho do Homem, achará, porventura, fé na terra?
9 And he seide also to sum men, that tristiden in hem silf, as thei weren riytful, and dispiseden othere, this parable,
9 Propôs também esta parábola a alguns que confiavam em si mesmos, por se considerarem justos, e desprezavam os outros:
10 seiynge, Twei men wenten vp in to the temple to preye; the toon a Farisee, and the tother a pupplican.
10 Dois homens subiram ao templo com o propósito de orar: um, fariseu, e o outro, publicano.
11 And the Farisee stood, and preiede bi hym silf these thingis, and seide, God, Y do thankyngis to thee, for Y am not as other men, raueinouris, vniust, auoutreris, as also this pupplican;
11 O fariseu, posto em pé, orava de si para si mesmo, desta forma: Ó Deus, graças te dou porque não sou como os demais homens, roubadores, injustos e adúlteros, nem ainda como este publicano;
12 Y faste twies in the woke, Y yyue tithis of alle thingis that Y haue in possessioun.
12 jejuo duas vezes por semana e dou o dízimo de tudo quanto ganho.
13 And the pupplican stood afer, and wolde nether reise hise iyen to heuene, but smoot his brest, and seide, God be merciful to me, synnere.
13 O publicano, estando em pé, longe, não ousava nem ainda levantar os olhos ao céu, mas batia no peito, dizendo: Ó Deus, sê propício a mim, pecador!
14 Treuli Y seie to you, this yede doun in to his hous, and was iustified fro the other. For ech that enhaunsith hym, schal be maad low, and he that mekith hym, schal be enhaunsid.
14 Digo-vos que este desceu justificado para sua casa, e não aquele; porque todo o que se exalta será humilhado; mas o que se humilha será exaltado.
15 And thei brouyten to hym yonge children, that he schulde touche hem; and whanne the disciplis saien this thing, thei blameden hem.
15 Traziam-lhe também as crianças, para que as tocasse; e os discípulos, vendo, os repreendiam.
16 But Jhesus clepide togider hem, and seide, Suffre ye children to come to me, and nyle ye forbede hem, for of siche is the kyngdom of heuenes.
16 Jesus, porém, chamando-as para junto de si, ordenou: Deixai vir a mim os pequeninos e não os embaraceis, porque dos tais é o reino de Deus.
17 Treuli Y seie to you, who euer schal not take the kyngdom of God as a child, he schal not entre in to it.
17 Em verdade vos digo: Quem não receber o reino de Deus como uma criança de maneira alguma entrará nele.
18 And a prince axide hym, and seide, Goode maister, in what thing doynge schal Y weilde euerlastynge lijf?
18 Certo homem de posição perguntou-lhe: Bom Mestre, que farei para herdar a vida eterna?
19 And Jhesus seide to hym, What seist thou me good? No man is good, but God aloone.
19 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Por que me chamas bom? Ninguém é bom, senão um, que é Deus.
20 Thou knowist the comaundementis, Thou schalt not sle, Thou schalt not do letcherie, Thou schalt not do theft, Thou schalt not seie fals witnessyng, Worschipe thi fadir and thi modir.
20 Sabes os mandamentos: Não adulterarás , não matarás , não furtarás , não dirás falso testemunho , honra a teu pai e a tua mãe.
21 Which seide, Y haue kept alle these thingis fro my yongthe.
21 Replicou ele: Tudo isso tenho observado desde a minha juventude.
22 And whanne this thing was herd, Jhesus seide to hym, Yit o thing failith `to thee; sille thou alle thingis that thou hast, and yyue to pore men, and thou schalt haue tresour in heuene; and come, and sue thou me.
22 Ouvindo-o Jesus, disse-lhe: Uma coisa ainda te falta: vende tudo o que tens, dá-o aos pobres e terás um tesouro nos céus; depois, vem e segue-me.
23 Whanne these thingis weren herd, he was soreful, for he was ful ryche.
23 Mas, ouvindo ele estas palavras, ficou muito triste, porque era riquíssimo.
24 And Jhesus seynge hym maad sorie, seide, How hard thei that han money schulen entre in to the kyngdom of God;
24 E Jesus, vendo-o assim triste, disse: Quão dificilmente entrarão no reino de Deus os que têm riquezas!
25 for it is liyter a camel to passe thorou a nedlis iye, than a riche man to entre in to the kyngdom of God.
25 Porque é mais fácil passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha do que entrar um rico no reino de Deus.
26 And thei that herden these thingis seiden, Who may be maad saaf?
26 E os que ouviram disseram: Sendo assim, quem pode ser salvo?
27 And he seide to hem, Tho thingis that ben impossible anentis men, ben possible anentis God.
27 Mas ele respondeu: Os impossíveis dos homens são possíveis para Deus.
28 But Petir seide, Lo! we han left alle thingis, and han sued thee.
28 E disse Pedro: Eis que nós deixamos nossa casa e te seguimos.
29 And he seide to hym, Treuli Y seie to you, there is no man that schal forsake hous, or fadir, modir, or britheren, or wijf, or children, or feeldis, for the rewme of God,
29 Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Em verdade vos digo que ninguém há que tenha deixado casa, ou mulher, ou irmãos, ou pais, ou filhos, por causa do reino de Deus,
30 and schal not resseyue many mo thingis in this tyme, and in the world to comynge euerlastynge lijf.
30 que não receba, no presente, muitas vezes mais e, no mundo por vir, a vida eterna.
31 And Jhesus took hise twelue disciplis, and seide to hem, Lo! we gon vp to Jerusalem, and alle thingis schulen be endid, that ben writun bi the prophetis of mannus sone.
31 Tomando consigo os doze, disse-lhes Jesus: Eis que subimos para Jerusalém, e vai cumprir-se ali tudo quanto está escrito por intermédio dos profetas, no tocante ao Filho do Homem;
32 For he schal be bitraied to hethen men, and he schal be scorned, and scourgid, and bispat;
32 pois será ele entregue aos gentios, escarnecido, ultrajado e cuspido;
33 and aftir that thei han scourgid, thei schulen sle hym, and the thridde dai he schal rise ayen.
33 e, depois de o açoitarem, tirar-lhe-ão a vida; mas, ao terceiro dia, ressuscitará.
34 And thei vndurstoden no thing of these; and this word was hid fro hem, and thei vndurstoden not tho thingis that weren seid.
34 Eles, porém, nada compreenderam acerca destas coisas; e o sentido destas palavras era-lhes encoberto, de sorte que não percebiam o que ele dizia.
35 But it was don, whanne Jhesus cam nyy to Jerico, a blynde man sat bisidis the weie, and beggide.
35 Aconteceu que, ao aproximar-se ele de Jericó, estava um cego assentado à beira do caminho, pedindo esmolas.
36 And whanne he herde the puple passynge, he axide, what this was.
36 E, ouvindo o tropel da multidão que passava, perguntou o que era aquilo.
37 And thei seiden to hym, that Jhesus of Nazareth passide.
37 Anunciaram-lhe que passava Jesus, o Nazareno.
38 And he criede, and seide, Jhesu, the sone of Dauyd, haue mercy on me.
38 Então, ele clamou: Jesus, Filho de Davi, tem compaixão de mim!
39 And thei that wenten bifor blamyden hym, that he schulde be stille; but he criede myche the more, Thou sone of Dauid, haue mercy on me.
39 E os que iam na frente o repreendiam para que se calasse; ele, porém, cada vez gritava mais: Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim!
40 And Jhesus stood, and comaundide hym to be brouyt forth to hym. And whanne he cam nyy, he axide hym,
40 Então, parou Jesus e mandou que lho trouxessem. E, tendo ele chegado, perguntou-lhe:
41 and seide, What wolt thou that Y schal do to thee? And he seide, Lord, that Y se.
41 Que queres que eu te faça? Respondeu ele: Senhor, que eu torne a ver.
42 And Jhesus seide to hym, Biholde; thi feith hath maad thee saaf.
42 Então, Jesus lhe disse: Recupera a tua vista; a tua fé te salvou.
43 And anoon he say, and suede hym, and magnyfiede God. And al the puple, as it say, yaf heriyng to God.
43 Imediatamente, tornou a ver e seguia-o glorificando a Deus. Também todo o povo, vendo isto, dava louvores a Deus.
