1 The birthun of the forsakun see. As whirlewyndis comen fro the southwest, it cometh fro desert, fro the orible lond.
1 Esta é a mensagem contra a Babilônia, “o deserto do mar”: Como os furacões que varrem a região sul, assim o destruidor vem do deserto, daquela terra pavorosa.
2 An hard reuelacioun is teld to me; he that is vnfeithful, doith vnfeithfuli; and he that is a distriere, distrieth. Thou Helam, stie, and thou, Meda, biseche; Y made al the weilyng therof for to ceesse.
2 A visão que Deus me mostrou foi terrível: traição e destruição por toda parte! Exército de Elão, ataque! Exército da Média, cerque as cidades! Deus vai acabar com os sofrimentos que a Babilônia causou.
3 Therfor my leendis ben fillid with sorewe; angwische weldide me, as the angwisch of a womman trauelynge of child; Y felle doun, whanne Y herde; Y was disturblid, whanne Y siy.
3 A visão me deixou desesperado; estou sofrendo como uma mulher que está dando à luz. Eu quase não posso ouvir, de tanta dor; quase não posso ver, de tão fraco.
4 Myn herte fadide, derknessis astonieden me; Babiloyne, my derlyng, is set to me in to myracle.
4 Estou cheio de confusão e tremo de medo; esperava que a noite me trouxesse alívio, mas ela só me trouxe pavor.
5 Sette thou a boord, biholde thou in to a toting place; rise, ye princes, etynge and drynkynge, take ye scheeld.
5 Na visão, eu vi um banquete preparado na Babilônia; os lugares para os convidados sentarem estavam prontos, e eles comiam e bebiam. De repente, alguém deu esta ordem: “Oficiais, levantem-se e peguem as suas armas!”
6 For whi the Lord seide these thingis to me, Go thou, and sette a lokere; and telle he, what euer thing he seeth.
6 O Senhor me ordenou: “Vá e ponha um soldado de vigia, e que ele conte tudo o que vir!
7 And he siy the chare of tweyne horse men, the stiere of an asse, and the stiere of a camel; and he bihelde diligentli with myche lokyng,
7 Que o vigia preste muita atenção se enxergar um grupo de cavaleiros avançando em fila de dois e homens montados em jumentos e em camelos!”
8 and criede as a lioun, Y stonde contynueli bi dai on the totyng place of the Lord, and Y stonde bi alle nyytis on my kepyng.
8 Então o vigia gritou: “Ó Senhor, dia e noite tenho ficado no meu posto e estou sempre vigiando.
9 Lo! this cometh, a man stiere of a carte of horse men. And Isaie criede, and seide, Babiloyne felle doun, felle doun; and alle the grauun ymagis of goddis therof ben al to-brokun in to erthe.
9 Atenção! Aí vêm cavaleiros, em fila de dois!” Depois o vigia disse: “Ela caiu! Babilônia caiu! Todas as imagens que os babilônios adoravam estão despedaçadas no chão!”
10 Mi threschyng, and the douyter of my cornfloor, Y haue teld to you what thingis Y herde of the Lord of oostis, of God of Israel.
10 Vocês, meu povo, foram maltratados, foram malhados como o trigo no terreiro. Mas eu lhes estou anunciando a mensagem que recebi do
11 The birthun of Duma. It crieth fro Seir to me, Kepere, what our of the niyt? `kepere, what our of the niyt?
11 Esta é a mensagem contra Edom: Alguém me chama do país de Edom e diz: “Guarda, quanto falta para terminar a noite? Guarda, quanto falta para terminar a noite?”
12 The kepere seide, Morewtid cometh, and niyt; if ye seken, seke ye, and be ye conuertid, and `come ye.
12 O guarda responde: “A manhã vai chegar, mas a noite voltará outra vez. Se quiser perguntar de novo, volte e pergunte.”
13 The birthun in Arabie. In the forest at euentid ye schulen slepe, in the pathis of Dodanym.
13 Esta é a mensagem contra a Arábia: Os fugitivos da tribo de Dedã são forçados a acampar no deserto.
14 Ye that dwellen in the lond of the south, renne, and bere watir to the thristi; and renne ye with looues to hym that fleeth.
14 Moradores de Temá, socorram os dedanitas, dando-lhes água e comida.
15 For thei fledden fro the face of swerdis, fro the face of swerd neiyynge, fro the face of bouwe bent, fro the face of greuouse batel.
15 Pois eles estão fugindo de uma batalha feroz; tentam escapar dos seus inimigos, que querem matá-los com as suas espadas, com os seus arcos e flechas.
16 For the Lord seith these thingis to me, Yit in o yeer, as in the yeer of an hirid man, and al the glorie of Cedar schal be takun awei.
16 O Senhor me disse: — Daqui a exatamente um ano, a grandeza das tribos de Quedar terá desaparecido.
17 And the remenauntis of the noumbre of stronge archeris of the sones of Cedar schulen be maad lesse; for whi the Lord God of Israel spak.
17 Poucos dos flecheiros valentes de Quedar estarão vivos. Eu, o Senhor , o Deus de Israel, falei.
