1 Forsothe Dyna, the douytir of Lya, yede out to se the wymmen of that cuntrey.
1 E saiu Diná, filha de Leia, que esta dera a Jacó, a ver as filhas da terra.
2 And whanne Sichem, the sone of Emor Euey, the prince of that lond, hadde seyn hir, he louede hir, and rauyschide, and sclepte with hir, and oppresside the virgyn bi violence.
2 E Siquém, filho de Hamor, heveu, príncipe daquela terra, viu-a, e tomou-a, e deitou-se com ela, e humilhou-a.
3 And his soule was boundun faste with hir, and he pleside hir sory with flateringis.
3 E apegou-se a sua alma com Diná, filha de Jacó, e amou a moça, e falou afetuosamente à moça.
4 And he yede to Emor,
4 Falou também Siquém a Hamor, seu pai, dizendo: Toma-me esta por mulher.
5 his fadir, and seide, Take to me this damysel a wijf. And whanne Jacob hadde herd this thing, while the sones weren absent, and ocupied in the fedyng of scheep, he was stille, til thei camen ayen.
5 Quando Jacó ouviu que fora contaminada Diná, sua filha, estavam os seus filhos no campo com o gado; e calou-se Jacó até que viessem.
6 Sotheli whanne Emor, the fadir of Sichem, was gon out, `that he schulde speke to Jacob, lo!
6 E saiu Hamor, pai de Siquém, a Jacó, para falar com ele.
7 hise sones camen fro the feeld. And whanne this thing that bifelde was herd, thei weren wroothe greetli; for he wrouyte a foul thing in Israel, and he hadde do a thing vnleueful in the defoulyng of the douyter of Jacob.
7 E vieram os filhos de Jacó do campo; e, ouvindo isso, entristeceram-se os varões e iraram-se muito, pois aquele fizera doidice em Israel, deitando-se com a filha de Jacó, o que não se devia fazer assim.
8 And so Emor spak to hem, The soule of my sone Sichem cleuyde to youre douytir, yeue ye hir a wijf to hym,
8 Então, falou Hamor com eles, dizendo: A alma de Siquém, meu filho, está namorada da vossa filha; dai-lha, peço-vos, por mulher.
9 and ioyne we weddyngis to gidere; yyue ye youre douytris to vs,
9 Aparentai-vos conosco, dai-nos as vossas filhas e tomai as nossas filhas para vós;
10 and take ye oure douytris, and dwelle ye with vs; the lond is in youre power, tile ye, make ye marchaundise, and welde ye it.
10 e habitareis conosco; e a terra estará diante da vossa face; habitai, e negociai nela, e tomai possessão nela.
11 But also Sichem seide to the fadir and britheren of hir, Fynde Y grace bifor you, and what euer thingis ye ordeynen Y schal yyue;
11 E disse Siquém ao pai dela e aos irmãos dela: Ache eu graça a vossos olhos e darei o que me disserdes.
12 encreesse ye the dower, and axe ye yiftis, Y schal yyue wilfull that that ye axen; oonli yyue ye this damysele a wijf to me.
12 Aumentai muito sobre mim o dote e a dádiva, e darei o que me disserdes; dai-me somente a moça por mulher.
13 The sones of Jacob answeriden in gile to Sichem and his fadir, and weren feerse for the defoulyng of maidenhod of the sistir,
13 Então, responderam os filhos de Jacó a Siquém e a Hamor, seu pai, enganosamente, e falaram, porquanto havia contaminado a Diná, sua irmã.
14 We moun not do this that ye axen, nether we moun yyue oure sistir to a man vncircumcidid, which thing is vnleueful and abhomynable anentis vs.
14 E disseram-lhes: Não podemos fazer isso, que déssemos a nossa irmã a um varão não circuncidado; porque isso seria uma vergonha para nós.
15 But in this we schulen mowe be boundun in pees, if ye wole be lijk vs, and ech of male kynde be circumcidid in you,
15 Nisso, porém, consentiremos a vós: se fordes como nós, que se circuncide todo macho entre vós;
16 thanne we schulen yyue and take togidre oure douytris and youre; and we schulen dwelle with you, and we schulen be o puple.
16 então, dar-vos-emos as nossas filhas, e tomaremos nós as vossas filhas, e habitaremos convosco, e seremos um só povo.
17 Forsothe if ye nylen be circumcidid, we schulen take oure douytir, and schulen go a wei.
17 Mas, se não nos ouvirdes e não vos circuncidardes, tomaremos a nossa filha e ir-nos-emos.
18 The profryng of hem pleside Emor and Sichem,
18 E suas palavras foram boas aos olhos de Hamor e aos olhos de Siquém, filho de Hamor.
19 his sone, and the yong wexynge man dilaiede not, that ne he fillide anoon that that was axid, for he louede the damysele greetli, and he was noble in al `the hous of his fadir.
19 E não tardou o jovem em fazer isto; porque a filha de Jacó lhe agradava, e ele era o mais honrado de toda a casa de seu pai.
20 And thei entriden in to the yate of the citee, and spaken to the puple,
20 Vieram, pois, Hamor e Siquém, seu filho, à porta da sua cidade e falaram aos varões da sua cidade, dizendo:
21 These men ben pesible, and wolen dwelle with vs; make thei marchaundie in the loond, and tile thei it, which is large and brood, and hath nede to tileris; we schulen take her douytris to wyues, and we schulen yyue oure douytris to hem.
21 Estes varões são pacíficos conosco; portanto, habitarão nesta terra e negociarão nela; eis que a terra é larga de espaço diante da sua face; tomaremos nós as suas filhas por mulheres e lhes daremos as nossas filhas.
22 O thing is, for which so greet good is dilaied; if we circumciden oure malis, and suen the custom of the folc,
22 Mas somente consentirão aqueles varões habitar conosco, para que sejamos um só povo, se todo macho entre nós se circuncidar, como eles são circuncidados.
23 bothe her substaunce, and scheep, and alle thingis which thei welden, schulen be oure; oneli assente we in this, that we dwelle to gidere, and make o puple.
23 O seu gado, e as suas possessões, e todos os seus animais não serão nossos? Consintamos somente com eles, e habitarão conosco.
24 And alle men assentiden, and alle malis weren circumcidid.
24 E deram ouvidos a Hamor e a Siquém, seu filho, todos os que saíam da porta da cidade; e foi circuncidado todo macho, de todos os que saíam pela porta da sua cidade.
25 And lo! in the thridde day, whanne the sorewe of woundis was moost greuous, twei sones of acob, Symeon and Leuy, britheren of Dyna, token swerdis, and entriden in to the citee booldeli; and whanne alle malis weren slayn,
25 E aconteceu que, ao terceiro dia, quando estavam com a mais violenta dor, dois filhos de Jacó, Simeão e Levi, irmãos de Diná, tomaram cada um a sua espada, e entraram afoitamente na cidade, e mataram todo macho.
26 thei killiden Emor and Sichem togidere, and token Dyna, her sistir, fro the hous of Sichem.
26 Mataram também a fio de espada a Hamor, e a seu filho Siquém; e tomaram Diná da casa de Siquém e saíram.
27 And whanne thei weren goon out, othere sones of Jacob felden in on the slayn men, and rifeliden the citee for the veniaunce of defoulyng of a virgyn.
27 Vieram os filhos de Jacó aos mortos e saquearam a cidade, porquanto haviam contaminado a sua irmã.
28 And thei wastiden the scheep of tho men, and droues of oxun, and assis, and alle thingis that weren in howsis and feeldis,
28 As suas ovelhas, e as suas vacas, e os seus jumentos, e o que na cidade e o que no campo havia tomaram;
29 and ledden prisoneris the litle children, and wyues of tho men.
29 e toda a sua fazenda, e todos os seus meninos, e as suas mulheres levaram presos e despojaram-nos de tudo o que havia em casa.
30 And whanne these thingis weren don hardili, Jacob seide to Symeon and Leuy, Ye han troblid me, and han maad me hateful to Cananeis and Fereseis, dwellers of this lond; we ben fewe, thei schulen be gaderid to gidere and schulen sle me, and Y schal be don a wey and myn hous.
30 Então, disse Jacó a Simeão e a Levi: Tendes-me turbado, fazendo-me cheirar mal entre os moradores desta terra, entre os cananeus e ferezeus; sendo eu pouco povo em número, ajuntar-se-ão, e ficarei destruído, eu e minha casa.
31 Symeon and Leuy answeriden, Whether thei ouyten mysuse oure sistir as an hoore?
31 E eles disseram: Faria, pois, ele a nossa irmã, como a uma prostituta?
