1 Vnwitti Galathies, tofor whos iyen Jhesu Crist is exilid, and is crucified in you, who hath disseyued you, that ye obeyen not to treuthe?
1 Ó gálatas sem juízo! Quem foi que enfeitiçou vocês? Na minha pregação a vocês eu fiz uma descrição perfeita da morte de Jesus Cristo na cruz; por assim dizer, vocês viram Jesus na cruz.
2 This oneli Y wilne to lerne of you, whether ye han vndurfonge the spirit of werkis of the lawe, or of heryng of bileue?
2 Respondam somente isto: vocês receberam o Espírito de Deus por terem feito o que a lei manda ou por terem ouvido a mensagem do evangelho e terem crido nela?
3 So ye ben foolis, that whanne ye han bigunne in spirit, ye ben endid in fleisch.
3 Como é que vocês podem ter tão pouco juízo? Vocês começaram a sua vida cristã pelo poder do Espírito de Deus e agora querem ir até o fim pelas suas próprias forças?
4 So grete thingis ye han suffrid without cause, if it be withoute cause.
4 Será que as coisas pelas quais vocês passaram não serviram para nada? Não é possível!
5 He that yyueth to you spirit, and worchith vertues in you, whether of werkis of the lawe, or of hering of bileue?
5 Será que, quando Deus dá o seu Espírito e faz milagres entre vocês, é porque vocês fazem o que a lei manda? Não será que é porque vocês ouvem a mensagem e creem nela?
6 As it is writun, Abraham bileuede to God, and it was rettid to hym to riytfulnesse.
6 Lembrem do que as Escrituras Sagradas dizem a respeito de Abraão: “Ele creu em Deus, e por isso Deus o aceitou.”
7 And therfor knowe ye, that these that ben of bileue, ben the sones of Abraham.
7 Portanto, vocês devem saber que os verdadeiros descendentes de Abraão são os que têm fé.
8 And the scripture seynge afer, that God iustifieth the hethene, of bileue told tofor to Abraham, That in thee alle the hethene schulen be blessid.
8 Antes que isso acontecesse, as Escrituras viram que Deus ia aceitar os não judeus por meio da fé. Por isso, antes de chegar o tempo, elas anunciaram a boa notícia a Abraão, dizendo: “Por meio de você, Deus abençoará todos os povos.”
9 And therfor these that ben of bileue, schulen be blessid with feithful Abraham.
9 Abraão creu e foi abençoado; portanto, todos os que creem são abençoados como ele foi.
10 For alle that ben of the werkis of the lawe, ben vndur curse; for it is writun, Ech man is cursid, that abidith not in alle thingis that ben writun in the book of the lawe, to do tho thingis.
10 Os que confiam na sua obediência à lei estão debaixo da maldição de Deus. Pois as Escrituras Sagradas dizem: “Quem não obedece sempre a tudo o que está escrito no Livro da Lei está debaixo da maldição de Deus.”
11 And that no man is iustified in the lawe bifor God, it is opyn, for a riytful man lyueth of bileue.
11 É claro que ninguém é aceito por Deus por meio da lei, pois as Escrituras dizem: “Viverá aquele que, por meio da fé, é aceito por Deus.”
12 But the lawe is not of bileue, but he that doith tho thingis of the lawe, schal lyue in hem.
12 Mas a lei não tem nada a ver com a fé. Pelo contrário, como dizem as Escrituras: “Viverá aquele que fizer o que a lei manda.”
13 But Crist ayenbouyte us fro the curse of the lawe, and was maad acursid for vs; for it is writun, Ech man is cursid that hangith in the tre;
13 Porém Cristo, tornando-se maldição por nós, nos livrou da maldição imposta pela lei. Como dizem as Escrituras: “Maldito todo aquele que for pendurado numa cruz!”
14 that among the hethene the blessyng of Abraham were maad in `Crist Jhesu, that we vndurfonge the biheeste of spirit thoruy bileue.
14 Cristo fez isso para que a bênção que Deus prometeu a Abraão seja dada, por meio de Cristo Jesus, aos não judeus e para que todos nós recebamos por meio da fé o Espírito que Deus prometeu.
15 Britheren, Y seie aftir man, no man dispisith the testament of a man that is confermed, or ordeyneth aboue.
15 Meus irmãos, vou usar um exemplo da vida diária: quando duas pessoas combinam alguma coisa e assinam um contrato, ninguém pode quebrá-lo ou acrescentar qualquer coisa a ele.
16 The biheestis weren seid to Abraham and to his seed; he seith not, In seedis, as in many, but as in oon, And to thi seed, that is, Crist.
16 Pois Deus fez as suas promessas a Abraão e ao seu descendente. Quando as Escrituras dizem que Deus fez as suas promessas a Abraão “e à sua descendência”, elas não querem dizer que se trata de muitas pessoas, mas de uma só, isto é, Cristo.
17 But Y seie, this testament is confermed of God; the lawe that was maad after foure hundrid and thritti yeer, makith not the testament veyn to auoide awei the biheest.
17 O que eu quero dizer é o seguinte: Deus fez uma aliança com Abraão e prometeu cumpri-la. A lei , que foi dada quatrocentos e trinta anos depois, não pode quebrar aquela aliança, nem anular a promessa de Deus.
18 For if eritage were of the lawe, it were not now of biheeste. But God grauntide to Abraham thoruy biheest.
18 Porque, se aquilo que Deus dá depende da lei, então o que ele dá já não depende da sua promessa. Mas o que Deus deu a Abraão, ele deu porque havia prometido.
19 What thanne the lawe? It was sett for trespassing, to the seed come, to whom he hadde maad his biheest. Whiche lawe was ordeyned bi aungels, in the hoond of a mediatour. But a mediatour is not of oon. But God is oon.
19 Então, por que é que foi dada a lei? Ela foi dada para mostrar as coisas que são contra a vontade de Deus. A lei devia durar até que viesse o descendente de Abraão, pois a promessa foi feita a esse descendente. A lei foi entregue por anjos, e um homem serviu de intermediário.
20 — ausente —
20 Porém não é preciso haver intermediário quando se está falando de uma só pessoa; e Deus é um só.
21 Is thanne the lawe ayens the biheestis of God? God forbede. For if the lawe were youun, that myyte quikene, verili were riytfulnesse of lawe.
21 Será que isso quer dizer que a lei é contra as promessas de Deus? É claro que não! Porque, se tivesse sido dada uma lei que pudesse dar vida às pessoas, então elas seriam aceitas por Deus por obedecerem a ela.
22 But scripture hath concludid alle thingis vndir synne, that the biheeste of the feith of Jhesu Crist were yyuen to hem that bileuen.
22 Porém as Escrituras Sagradas afirmam que o mundo inteiro está dominado pelo pecado, e isso para que as pessoas que creem recebam o que Deus promete aos que têm fé em Jesus Cristo.
23 And tofor that bileue cam, thei weren kept vndur the lawe, enclosid in to that bileue that was to be schewid.
23 Mas, antes que chegasse o tempo da fé, nós éramos prisioneiros da lei, até que fosse revelada a fé que devia vir.
24 And so the lawe was oure vndirsmaister in Crist, that we ben iustified of bileue.
24 Assim, a lei ficou tomando conta de nós até que Cristo viesse para podermos ser aceitos por Deus por meio da fé.
25 But aftir that bileue cam, we ben not now vndur the vndurmaistir.
25 Agora que chegou o tempo da fé, não precisamos mais da lei para tomar conta de nós.
26 For alle ye ben the children of God thoruy the bileue of Jhesu Crist.
26 Pois, por meio da fé em Cristo Jesus, todos vocês são filhos de Deus.
27 For alle ye that ben baptisid, ben clothid with Crist.
27 Porque vocês foram batizados para ficarem unidos com Cristo e assim se revestiram com as qualidades do próprio Cristo.
28 Ther is no Jewe, ne Greke, ne bond man, ne fre man, ne male, ne female; for alle ye ben oon in `Jhesu Crist.
28 Desse modo não existe diferença entre judeus e não judeus, entre escravos e pessoas livres, entre homens e mulheres: todos vocês são um só por estarem unidos com Cristo Jesus.
29 And if ye ben oon in `Jhesu Crist, thanne ye ben the seed of Abraham, and eiris bi biheest.
29 E, já que vocês pertencem a Cristo, então são descendentes de Abraão e receberão aquilo que Deus prometeu.
