1 Whanne thi Lord God hath lad thee in to the lond, in to which thou schalt entre to welde, and hath do awey many folkis bifor thee, Ethei, and Gergesei, and Ammorrey, Canenei, and Pherezei, Euey, and Jebusei; seuene folkis, of myche gretter noumbre than thou art, and strengere than thou;
1 Quando o Senhor teu Deus te houver introduzido na terra a que vais a fim de possuí-la, e tiver lançado fora de diante de ti muitas nações, a saber, os heteus, os girgaseus, os amorreus, os cananeus, os perizeus, os heveus e os jebuseus, sete nações mais numerosas e mais poderosas do que tu;
2 and thi Lord God hath bitake hem to thee, thou schalt smyte hem `til to deeth, thou schalt not make `with hem a boond of pees, nether thou schalt haue merci on hem,
2 e quando o Senhor teu Deus as tiver entregue, e as ferires, totalmente as destruirás; não farás com elas pacto algum, nem terás piedade delas;
3 nether thou schalt felowschipe mariagis with him; thou schalt not yyue thi douyter to the sone `of hym, nether thou schalt take his douytir to thi sone;
3 não contrairás com elas matrimônios; não darás tuas filhas a seus filhos, e não tomarás suas filhas para teus filhos;
4 for sche schal disceyue thi sone, that he sue not me, and that he serue more alien goddis; and the strong veniaunce of the Lord schal be wrooth, and schal do awei thee soone.
4 pois fariam teus filhos desviarem-se de mim, para servirem a outros deuses; e a ira do Senhor se acenderia contra vós, e depressa vos consumiria.
5 But rather thou schalt do these thingis to hem; destrie ye the auteris `of hem, and breke ye ymagis `of metal, and kitte ye doun wodis, and brenne ye grauun ymagis.
5 Mas assim lhes fareis: Derrubareis os seus altares, quebrareis as suas colunas, cortareis os seus aserins, e queimareis a fogo as suas imagens esculpidas.
6 For thou art an hooli puple to thi Lord God; thi Lord God chees thee, that thou be a special puple to hym, of alle puplis that ben on erthe.
6 Porque tu és povo santo ao Senhor teu Deus; o Senhor teu Deus te escolheu, a fim de lhe seres o seu próprio povo, acima de todos os povos que há sobre a terra.
7 Not for ye ouercamen in noumbre alle folkis, the Lord is ioyned to you, and chees yow, sithen ye ben fewere than alle puplis;
7 O Senhor não tomou prazer em vós nem vos escolheu porque fôsseis mais numerosos do que todos os outros povos, pois éreis menos em número do que qualquer povo;
8 but for the Lord louede you, and kepte the ooth which he swoor to youre fadris; and he ledde you out in strong hond, and ayen bouyte you fro the hows of seruage, fro `the hows of Farao, kyng of Egipt.
8 mas, porque o Senhor vos amou, e porque quis guardar o juramento que fizera a vossos pais, foi que vos tirou com mão forte e vos resgatou da casa da servidão, da mão de Faraó, rei do Egito.
9 And thou schalt wite, that thi Lord God hym silf is a strong God, and feithful, and kepith couenaunt and mersi to hem that louen hym, and to hem that kepen hise comaundementis, in to a thousynde generaciouns;
9 Saberás, pois, que o Senhor teu Deus é que é Deus, o Deus fiel, que guarda o pacto e a misericórdia, até mil gerações, aos que o amam e guardam os seus mandamentos;
10 and yeldith anoon to hem that haten hym, so that he destrie hem, and differr no lengere; restorynge anoon to hem that that thei disseruen.
10 e que retribui diretamente aos que o odeiam, para os destruir; não será remisso para quem o odeia, diretamente lhe retribuirá.
11 Therfor kepe thou the comaundementis, and cerymonyes, and domes, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, that thou do.
11 Guardarás, pois, os mandamentos, os estatutos e os preceitos que eu hoje te ordeno, para os cumprires.
12 If aftir that thou herist these domes, thou kepist, and doist tho, thi Lord God schal kepe to thee couenaunt, and mersi, which he swoor to thi fadris.
12 Sucederá, pois, que, por ouvirdes estes preceitos, e os guardardes e cumprirdes, o Senhor teu Deus te guardará o pacto e a misericórdia que com juramento prometeu a teus pais;
13 And he schal loue thee, and schal multiplie thee, and he schal blesse the fruyt of thi wombe, and the fruyt of thi lond, thi wheete, and vindage, oile, and droues of beestis, and the flockis of thi scheep, on the lond for which he swoor to thi fadris, that he schulde yyue it to thee.
13 ele te amará, te abençoará e te fará multiplicar; abençoará o fruto do teu ventre, e o fruto da tua terra, o teu grão, o teu mosto e o teu azeite, a criação das tuas vacas, e as crias dos teus rebanhos, na terra que com juramento prometeu a teus pais te daria.
14 Thou schalt be blessid among alle puplis; noon bareyn of euer eithir kynde schal be at thee, as well in men, as in thi flockis.
14 Bendito serás mais do que todos os povos; não haverá estéril no meio de ti, seja homem, seja mulher, nem entre os teus animais.
15 The Lord schal do awei fro thee all ache, `ether sorewe; and he schal not brynge to thee the worste siknessis of Egipt, whiche thou knewist, but to alle thin enemyes.
15 E o Senhor desviará de ti toda enfermidade; não porá sobre ti nenhuma das más doenças dos egípcios, que bem conheces; no entanto as porás sobre todos os que te odiarem.
16 And thou schalt `deuoure, that is, distrie, alle puplis, whiche thi Lord God schal yyue to thee; thin iye schal not spare hem, nethir thou schalt serue the goddis `of hem, lest thei ben in to the fallyng of thee.
16 Consumirás todos os povos que o Senhor teu Deus te entregar; os teus olhos não terão piedade deles; e não servirás a seus deuses, pois isso te seria por laço.
17 If thou seist in thin herte, These folkis ben mo than Y, hou may Y do awei hem?
17 Se disseres no teu coração: Estas nações são mais numerosas do que eu; como as poderei desapossar?
18 `nyle thou drede, but haue thou mynde, what thingis thi Lord God dide to Farao, and alle Egipcians;
18 delas não terás medo; antes lembrarte-ás do que o Senhor teu Deus fez a Faraó e a todos os egípcios;
19 `he dide the gretteste veniaunces, whiche thin iyen sien, and miraclis and grete wondris, and the strong hond, and arm `holdun forth, that thi Lord God schulde lede thee out; so he schal do to alle puplis whiche thou dredist.
19 das grandes provas que os teus olhos viram, e dos sinais, e das maravilhas, e da mão forte, e do braço estendido, com que o Senhor teu Deus te tirou: Assim fará o Senhor teu Deus a todos os povos, diante dos quais tu temes.
20 Ferthermore and thi Lord God schal sende venemouse flies in to hem, til he do awei, and destrye alle men, that fledden thee, and thei schulen not mowe be hid.
20 Além disso o Senhor teu Deus mandará entre eles vespões, até que pereçam os restantes que se tiverem escondido de ti.
21 Thou schalt not drede hem, for thi Lord is in the myddis of thee, grete God, and ferdful.
21 Não te espantes diante deles, porque o Senhor teu Deus está no meio de ti, Deus grande e terrível.
22 He hym silf schal waste these naciouns in thi siyt, litil and litil, and bi partis; thou schalt not mow do awey `tho naciouns togidere, lest peraventure beestis of erthe be multiplied ayens thee;
22 E o Senhor teu Deus lançará fora de diante de ti, pouco a pouco, estas nações; não poderás destruí-las todas de pronto, para que as feras do campo não se multipliquem contra ti.
23 and thi Lord God schal yyue hem in thi siyt, and he schal sle hem, til thei be doon awey outerly.
23 E o Senhor as entregará a ti, e lhes infligirá uma grande derrota, até que sejam destruídas.
24 And he schal bitake the kyngis `of hem in to thin hondis, and thou schalt destrie the names `of hem vndur heuene; noon schal mow ayenstonde thee, til thou al to-breke hem.
24 Também os seus reis te entregará nas tuas mãos, e farás desaparecer o nome deles de debaixo do céu; nenhum te poderá resistir, até que os tenhas destruído.
25 Thou schalt brenne in fier the grauun ymagis `of hem; thou schalt not coueite the siluer and gold, of whiche tho ymagis ben maad, nether thou schalt take of tho ony thing to thee, lest thou offende therfor, for it is abhominacioun of thi Lord God.
25 As imagens esculpidas de seus deuses queimarás a fogo; não cobiçarás a prata nem o ouro que estão sobre elas, nem deles te apropriarás, para que não te enlaces neles; pois são abominação ao Senhor teu Deus.
26 Nether thou schalt brynge ony thing of the idol in to thin hous, lest thou be maad cursid, as also that idol is; thou schalt wlate it as filthe, and thou schalt haue it as defoulyng, and filthis of abhomynacioun, for it is cursid.
26 Não meterás, pois, uma abominação em tua casa, para que não sejas anátema, semelhante a ela; de todo a detestarás, e de todo a abominarás, pois é anátema.
