1 And so Moises yede, and spak alle these wordis to al Israel,
1 Moisés continuou dizendo ao povo de Israel:
2 and seide to hem, Y am to dai of an hundrid and twenti yeer, Y may no ferthere go out and go yn, moost sithen also the Lord seide to me, Thou schalt not passe this Jordan.
2 — Já estou com cento e vinte anos e não posso mais dar conta do meu trabalho. Além disso, o Senhor Deus me disse que eu não vou atravessar o rio Jordão.
3 Therfor thi Lord God schal passe bifore thee; he schal do awei these folkis in thi siyt, and thou schalt welde hem; and this Josue schal go bifor thee, as the Lord spak.
3 O Senhor , nosso Deus, irá na frente de vocês e destruirá os povos que encontrarem, e vocês tomarão posse da terra. E, conforme o Senhor ordenou, Josué os comandará.
4 And the Lord schal do to hem as he dide to Seon, and Og kyng of Ammorreis, and to `the lond of hem; and he schal do hem awey.
4 Deus destruirá aqueles povos como destruiu Seom e Ogue, os reis dos amorreus, e a terra deles.
5 Therfor whanne the Lord hath bitake to you also hem, ye schulen do in lijk maner to hem, as Y comaundide to you.
5 Deus entregará esses povos nas suas mãos, e vocês devem tratá-los exatamente de acordo com as ordens que lhes dei.
6 Do ye manli, and be ye coumfortid; nyle ye drede in herte, nethir drede ye at the siyt of hem, for thi Lord God hym silf is thi ledere, and he schal not leeue, nether schal forsake thee.
6 Sejam fortes e corajosos; não se assustem, nem tenham medo deles, pois é o Senhor , nosso Deus, quem irá com vocês. Ele não os deixará, nem abandonará.
7 And Moyses clepid Josue, and seide to hym bifor al the multitude of the sones of Israel, Be thou coumfortid, and be thou strong; for thou schalt lede this puple in to the lond which the Lord swoor that he schal yyue to `the fadris of hem; and thou schalt departe it bi lot.
7 Depois Moisés chamou Josué e, na presença de todo o povo, lhe disse: — Seja forte e corajoso, pois você vai comandar este povo na conquista da terra que o
8 And the Lord hym silf whiche is youre ledere, schal be with thee, he schal not leeue, nether schal forsake thee; nyle thou drede, nether drede thou in herte.
8 O Senhor Deus irá na sua frente; ele mesmo estará com você e não o deixará, não o abandonará. Não se assuste, nem tenha medo.
9 Therfor Moyses wroot this lawe, and bitook it to the preestis, sones of Leuy, that baren the arke of the bond of pees of the Lord, and to alle the eldere men of Israel.
9 Moisés escreveu esta Lei e a entregou aos líderes do povo e aos sacerdotes levitas que levavam a arca da aliança de Deus, o Senhor .
10 And Moyses comaundide to hem, and seide, Aftir seuen yeer, in the yeer of remyssioun, in the solempnete of tabernaclis,
10 E Moisés lhes deu a seguinte ordem: — De sete em sete anos, no ano marcado para perdoar as dívidas, leiam esta Lei durante a
11 whanne alle men of Israel schulen come togidere, that thei appere in the siyt of her Lord God, in the place `which the Lord chees, thou schalt rede the wordis of this lawe bifor al Israel,
11 Todos os israelitas deverão estar presentes para adorar o Senhor Deus no lugar que ele tiver escolhido. Ali, na presença do povo, leiam a Lei em voz alta.
12 while thei heren, and while al the puple is gaderid to gidere, as wel to men, as to wymmen, to litle children, and comelyngis that ben with ynne thi yatis; that thei here, and lerne, and drede youre Lord God, and kepe and fille alle the wordis of this lawe;
12 Reúnam todo o povo — homens, mulheres, crianças e os estrangeiros que moram nas cidades onde vocês vivem — para que ouçam a leitura, aprendam a Lei, temam o Senhor , nosso Deus, e obedeçam fielmente a tudo o que a Lei manda.
13 also that the sones of hem, that now knowen not, moun here, and that thei drede her Lord God in alle daies in whiche thei lyuen in the lond to whiche ye schulen go to gete, whanne Jordan is passid.
13 Assim os seus descendentes que ainda não conhecerem a Lei de Deus também ouvirão a leitura e aprenderão a temer o Senhor , nosso Deus, durante todo o tempo em que viverem na terra que fica do outro lado do rio Jordão e que vai ser do povo de Israel.
14 And the Lord seide to Moises, Lo! the daies of thi deeth ben nyy; clepe thou Josue, and stonde ye in the tabernacle of witnessyng, that Y comaunde to hym. Therfor Moises and Josue yeden, and stooden in the tabernacle of witnessyng;
14 O Senhor Deus disse a Moisés: — Está chegando o dia da sua morte. Chame Josué, e vocês dois vão até a Então Moisés e Josué foram,
15 and the Lord apperide there in a pilere of cloude, that stood in the entryng of the tabernacle.
15 e ali na Tenda Sagrada o Senhor Deus apareceu numa coluna de nuvem, que estava parada perto da entrada da Tenda.
16 And the Lord seide to Moises, Lo! thou schalt slepe with thi fadris, and this puple schal rise, and schal do fornycacioun aftir alien goddis in the lond, to which lond it schal entre, that it dwelle ther ynne; there it schal forsake me, and schal make void the boond of pees, which Y couenauntide with it.
16 E o Senhor disse a Moisés: — Você vai morrer logo, e então este povo se tornará infiel, indo atrás dos deuses da terra em que vão entrar. Eles me abandonarão e assim quebrarão a
17 And my strong veniaunce schal be wrooth ayens that puple in that dai, and Y schal forsake it, and Y schal hide my face fro it, and it schal be in to deuouryng; alle yuels and turmentyngis schulen fynde it, so that it seie in that dai, Verili for the Lord is not with me, these yuelis han founde me.
17 Quando isso acontecer, eu ficarei irado com eles e os abandonarei; e, por não terem a minha ajuda, eles serão destruídos. Virão tantos desastres e tantas dificuldades, que eles dirão: “Nós estamos sofrendo tudo isso porque o nosso Deus não está conosco.”
18 Forsothe Y schal hide, and schal hile `my face in that dai, for alle the yuels `whiche it dide, for it suede alien goddis.
18 Naquele dia eu certamente os abandonarei, pois fizeram muitas maldades e adoraram outros deuses.
19 Now therfor write ye to you this song, and `teche ye the sones of Israel, that thei holde it in mynde, and synge bi mouth; and that this song be to me for a witnessyng among the sones of Israel.
19 — Agora escreva esta canção e ensine aos israelitas. Mande que eles a aprendam de cor, pois ela será minha testemunha contra eles.
20 For Y schal lede hym in to the lond, for which Y swoor to hise fadris, flowynge with mylk and hony; and whanne thei han ete, and ben fillid, and ben maad fat, thei schulen turne to alien goddis, and thei schulen serue hem; and thei schulen bacbite me, and schulen make voide my couenaunt.
20 Eu levarei o meu povo para aquela terra boa e rica que jurei dar aos antepassados deles. Ali eles terão tudo o que precisarem e ficarão ricos. Então vão me abandonar e adorar outros deuses, quebrando assim a aliança que fiz com eles.
21 Aftir that many yuels and turmentyngis han founde hym, this song schal answere hym for witnessing, which song no foryetyng schal do awey fro the mouth of thi seed. For Y knowe the thouytis therof to day, what thingis it schal do, bifore that Y bringe it in to the lond which Y bihiyte to it.
21 Por isso serão castigados com desgraças e dificuldades, e esta canção será minha testemunha contra eles, pois os seus descendentes continuarão a cantá-la. Eu sei muito bem o que este povo está pensando; mesmo antes de levá-los para a terra que jurei dar a eles, eu sei muito bem o que estão planejando fazer lá.
22 Therfor Moises wroot the song, and tauyte the sones of Israel.
22 Naquele mesmo dia Moisés escreveu a canção e a ensinou ao povo de Israel.
23 And the Lord comaundide to Josue, the sone of Nun, and seide, Be thou coumfortid, and be thou strong; for thou schalt lede the sones of Israel in to the lond which Y bihiyte, and Y schal be with thee.
23 O Senhor falou com Josué, filho de Num, e lhe disse: — Seja forte e corajoso. Você comandará o povo na conquista da terra que prometi dar a eles, e eu estarei com você.
24 Therfor aftir that Moises wroot the wordis of this lawe in a book, and fillide,
24 Moisés escreveu com cuidado num livro todas as palavras da Lei de Deus
25 he comaundide to Leuytis that baren the ark of boond of pees of the Lord,
25 e depois o entregou aos levitas encarregados de levar a arca da aliança de Deus, o Senhor . Moisés lhes disse:
26 and seide, Take ye this book, and putte ye it in the side of the arke of boond of pees of youre Lord God, that it be there ayens thee in to witnessyng.
26 — Ponham este Livro da Lei de Deus ao lado da arca da aliança do Senhor , nosso Deus, para que fique ali como testemunha contra o povo.
27 For Y knowe thi stryuyng, and thin hardest nol; yit while Y lyuede and entride with you, ye diden euere stryuyngli ayens the Lord; hou myche more whanne Y schal be deed.
27 Eu sei que essa gente é rebelde e teimosa. Se eles se revoltaram contra o Senhor Deus enquanto eu ainda vivia, quanto mais depois que eu morrer!
28 Gadere ye to me all the grettere men in birthe, and techeris, bi youre lynagis, and Y schal speke to hem, herynge these wordis, and Y schal clepe ayens hem heuene and erthe.
28 Reúnam aqui na minha presença todos os líderes das tribos e as outras autoridades para que eu lhes diga todas essas coisas. Chamarei o céu e a terra como testemunhas contra eles,
29 For Y knowe, that aftir my deeth ye schulen do wickidli, and schulen bowe awei soone fro the weie which Y comaundide to you; and yuels schulen come to you in the laste tyme, whanne ye `han do yuel in the siyt of the Lord, that ye terre hym to ire bi the werkis of youre hondis.
29 pois sei que depois da minha morte eles se entregarão ao pecado e não obedecerão às minhas ordens. Então chegará o dia em que serão castigados, pois os seus pecados farão com que Deus fique irado com eles.
30 Therfor while al the cumpeny of the sones of Israel herde, Moises spak the wordis of this song, and fillide `til to the ende.
30 Em seguida, na presença de todo o povo de Israel, Moisés recitou em voz alta, do começo ao fim, esta canção:
