1 But a man, Anany bi name, with Safira, his wijf,
1 Havia, porém, um homem chamado Ananias que, com sua esposa, Safira, vendeu uma propriedade.
2 seelde a feeld, and defraudide of the prijs of the feeld; and his wijf was witinge. And he brouyte a part, and leide bifor the feet of the apostlis.
2 Levou apenas parte do dinheiro aos apóstolos, mas, com aprovação da esposa, afirmou que aquele era o valor total e ficou com o resto.
3 And Petre seide to hym, Anany, whi hath Sathanas temptid thin herte, that thou lye to the Hooli Goost, and to defraude of the prijs of the feeld?
3 Então Pedro disse: “Ananias, por que você deixou Satanás encher seu coração? Você mentiu para o Espírito Santo quando guardou parte do dinheiro para si.
4 Whethir it vnseld was not thin; and whanne it was seld, it was in thi power? Whi hast thou put this thing in thin herte? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.
4 A propriedade era sua para vender ou não, como quisesse. E, depois de vendê-la, o dinheiro também era seu, para entregar ou não. Como pôde fazer uma coisa dessas? Você não mentiu para nós, mas para Deus!”.
5 Anany herde these wordis, and felde doun, and was deed. And greet drede was maad on alle that herden.
5 Assim que Ananias ouviu essas palavras, caiu no chão e morreu. Um grande temor se apoderou de todos que souberam o que havia acontecido.
6 And yonge men risen, and mouyden hym awei, and baren hym out, and birieden.
6 Então alguns jovens se levantaram, envolveram o corpo num lençol e o levaram para fora, e depois o sepultaram.
7 And ther was maad as a space of thre ouris, and his wijf knewe not that thing that was don, and entride.
7 Cerca de três horas depois, sua esposa entrou, sem saber o que havia acontecido.
8 And Petre answerde to hir, Womman, seie to me, whether ye seelden the feeld for so mych? And sche seide, Yhe, for so mych.
8 Pedro lhe perguntou: “Foi esse o valor que você e seu marido receberam pelo terreno?”. Ela respondeu: “Sim, foi esse o valor”.
9 And Petre seide to hyr, What bifelde to you, to tempte the spirit of the Lord? Lo! the feet of hem that han birieden thin hosebonde ben at the dore, and thei schulen bere thee out.
9 Então Pedro disse: “Como vocês puderam conspirar para pôr à prova o Espírito do Senhor? Veja, os jovens que sepultaram seu marido estão logo ali, perto da porta, e também levarão você”.
10 Anoon sche felde doun at hise feet, and diede. And the yonge men entriden, and founden hir deed, and thei baren hir out, and birieden to hir hosebonde.
10 No mesmo instante, ela caiu no chão e morreu. Quando os jovens entraram e viram que ela estava morta, levaram seu corpo para fora e a sepultaram ao lado do marido.
11 And greet drede was maad in al the chirche, and in to alle that herden these thingis.
11 Um grande temor se apoderou de toda a igreja e de todos que souberam desse acontecimento.
12 And bi the hoondis of the apostlis signes and many wondris weren maad in the puple. And alle weren of oon acord in the porche of Salomon.
12 Os apóstolos realizavam muitos sinais e maravilhas entre o povo. Todos se reuniam regularmente no templo, na parte conhecida como Pórtico de Salomão.
13 But no man of othere durste ioyne hymsilf with hem, but the puple magnyfiede hem.
13 Quando se reuniam ali, ninguém mais tinha coragem de juntar-se a eles, embora o povo os tivesse em alta consideração.
14 And the multitude of men and of wymmen bileuynge in the Lord was more encreessid,
14 Cada vez mais pessoas, multidões de homens e mulheres, criam no Senhor.
15 so that thei brouyten out sike men in to stretis, and leiden in litle beddis and couchis, that whanne Petre cam, nameli the schadew of hym schulde schadewe ech of hem, and thei schulden be delyuerid fro her syknessis.
15 Como resultado, o povo levava os doentes às ruas em camas e macas para que a sombra de Pedro cobrisse alguns deles enquanto ele passava.
16 And the multitude of citees niy to Jerusalem ran, bryngynge sijk men, and that weren trauelid of vnclene spiritis, whiche alle weren heelid.
16 Muita gente vinha das cidades ao redor de Jerusalém, trazendo doentes e atormentados por espíritos impuros, e todos eram curados.
17 But the prince of preestis roos vp, and alle that weren with hym, that is the eresye of Saduceis, and weren fillid with enuye;
17 Tomados de inveja, o sumo sacerdote e seus oficiais, que eram saduceus,
18 and leiden hondis on the apostlis, and puttiden hem in the comyn warde.
18 prenderam os apóstolos e os colocaram numa prisão pública.
19 But the aungel of the Lord openyde bi nyyt the yatis of the prisoun, and ledde hem out, and seide, Go ye,
19 Um anjo do Senhor, porém, veio durante a noite, abriu as portas do cárcere e os levou para fora.
20 and stonde ye, and speke in the temple to the puple alle the wordis of this lijf.
20 “Vão ao templo e transmitam ao povo esta mensagem de vida!”, disse ele.
21 Whom whanne thei hadden herd, thei entriden eerli in to the temple, and tauyten. And the prince of preestis cam, and thei that weren with him, and clepiden togidre the counsel, and alle the eldre men of the children of Israel; and senten to the prisoun, that thei schulden be brouyt forth.
21 Desse modo, ao amanhecer, os apóstolos entraram no templo, conforme haviam sido instruídos, e, sem demora, começaram a ensinar. Mais tarde, o sumo sacerdote e seus oficiais chegaram, reuniram o conselho,
22 And whanne the mynystris camen, founden hem not, and for the prisoun was openyd, thei turneden ayen,
22 Mas, quando os guardas do templo chegaram à prisão, os homens não estavam lá. Então voltaram e contaram:
23 and teelden, and seiden, We founden the prisoun schit with al diligence, and the keperis stondynge at the yatis; but we opneden, and founden no man ther ynne.
23 “A prisão estava bem trancada, com os guardas vigiando do lado de fora, mas, quando abrimos as portas, não havia ninguém!”.
24 And as the maiestratis of the temple, and the princis of preestis herden these wordis, thei doutiden of hem, what was don.
24 Ao ouvir isso, o capitão da guarda do templo e os principais sacerdotes ficaram perplexos e se perguntavam o que aconteceria em seguida.
25 But a man cam, and teelde to hem, For lo! tho men whiche ye han put in to prisoun, ben in the temple, and stonden, and techen the puple.
25 Então alguém chegou com a seguinte notícia: “Os homens que os senhores puseram na cadeia estão no templo, ensinando o povo!”.
26 Thanne the magistrat wente with the mynystris, and brouyte hem with out violence; for thei dredden the puple, lest thei schulden be stonyd.
26 O capitão e seus guardas foram e prenderam os apóstolos, mas sem violência, pois temiam que o povo os apedrejasse.
27 And whanne thei hadden brouyt hem, thei settiden hem in the counsel; and the princes of prestis axiden hem,
27 Em seguida, levaram os apóstolos e os apresentaram ao conselho de líderes do povo, onde o sumo sacerdote os confrontou.
28 and seiden, In comaundement we comaundiden you, that ye schulden not teche in this name, and lo! ye han fillid Jerusalem with youre teching, and ye wolen bringe on vs the blood of this man.
28 “Nós lhes ordenamos firmemente que nunca mais ensinassem em nome desse homem”, disse ele. “E, mesmo assim, vocês encheram Jerusalém com esse seu ensino e querem nos responsabilizar pela morte dele!”
29 And Petre answeride, and the apostlis, and seiden, It bihoueth to obeie to God, more than to men.
29 Pedro e os apóstolos responderam: “Devemos obedecer a Deus antes de qualquer autoridade humana.
30 God of oure fadris reiside Jhesu, whom ye slowen, hangynge in a tre.
30 O Deus de nossos antepassados ressuscitou Jesus dos mortos depois que os senhores o mataram, pendurando-o numa cruz.
31 God enhaunside with his riythond this prince and sauyour, that penaunce were yyue to Israel, and remyssioun of synnes.
31 Deus o colocou no lugar de honra, à sua direita, como Príncipe e Salvador, para que o povo de Israel se arrependesse de seus pecados e fosse perdoado.
32 And we ben witnessis of these wordis, and the Hooli Goost, whom God yaf to alle obeischinge to him.
32 Somos testemunhas dessas coisas, e assim é também o Espírito Santo, que Deus dá àqueles que lhe obedecem”.
33 Whanne thei herden these thingis, thei weren turmentid, and thouyten to sle hem.
33 Quando ouviram isso, os membros do conselho se enfureceram e decidiram matá-los.
34 But a man roos in the counsel, a Farise, Gamaliel bi name, a doctour of the lawe, a worschipful man to al the puple, and comaundide the men to be put without forth for a while.
34 Um deles, porém, um fariseu chamado Gamaliel, especialista na lei e respeitado por todo o povo, levantou-se e ordenou que eles fossem retirados da sala do conselho por um momento.
35 And he seide to hem, Ye men of Israel, take tent to you silf on these men, what ye schulen do.
35 Em seguida, disse aos demais: “Israelitas, cuidado com o que planejam fazer a esses homens!
36 For bifore these daies Teodas, that seide hym silf to be sum man, to whom a noumbre of men consentiden, aboute foure hundrid; which was slayn, and alle that bileueden to hym, weren disparplit, and brouyt to nouyt.
36 Algum tempo atrás, surgiu um certo Teudas, que afirmava ser alguém importante. Umas quatrocentas pessoas se juntaram a ele, mas foi morto e seus seguidores se dispersaram, e o movimento deu em nada.
37 Aftir this, Judas of Galilee was in the daies of professioun, and turnyde awei the puple aftir hym; and alle hou manye euere consentiden to hym, weren scatered, and he perischide.
37 Depois dele, na época do censo, apareceu Judas, da Galileia, que fez muitos seguidores. Ele também foi morto, e seu grupo se dispersou.
38 And now therfor Y seie to you, departe ye fro these men, and suffre ye hem; for if this counsel ether werk is of men, it schal be vndon;
38 “Portanto, meu conselho é que deixem esses homens em paz e os soltem. Se o que planejam e fazem é meramente humano, logo serão frustrados.
39 but if it is of God, ye moun not vndo hem, lest perauenture ye be foundun to repugne God.
39 Mas, se é de Deus, vocês não serão capazes de impedi-los. Pode até acontecer de vocês acabarem lutando contra Deus”.
40 And thei consentiden to him; and thei clepiden togidere the apostlis, and denounsiden to hem, that weren betun, that thei schulden no more speke in the name of Jhesu, and thei leten hem go.
40 Os demais membros aceitaram o conselho de Gamaliel. Chamaram os apóstolos e mandaram açoitá-los. Depois, ordenaram que nunca mais falassem em nome de Jesus e, por fim, os soltaram.
41 And thei wenten ioiynge fro the siyt of the counsel, that thei weren had worthi to suffre dispisyng for the name of Jhesu. But ech dai thei ceessiden not in the temple, and aboute housis, to teche and to preche Jhesu Crist.
41 Quando os apóstolos saíram da reunião do conselho, estavam alegres porque Deus os havia considerado dignos de sofrer humilhação pelo nome de Jesus.
42 — ausente —
42 E todos os dias, no templo e de casa em casa, continuavam a ensinar e anunciar que Jesus é o Cristo.
