1 But a man, Anany bi name, with Safira, his wijf,
1 Um homem chamado Ananias, juntamente com Safira, sua mulher, também vendeu uma propriedade.
2 seelde a feeld, and defraudide of the prijs of the feeld; and his wijf was witinge. And he brouyte a part, and leide bifor the feet of the apostlis.
2 Ele reteve parte do dinheiro para si, sabendo disso também sua mulher; e o restante levou e colocou aos pés dos apóstolos.
3 And Petre seide to hym, Anany, whi hath Sathanas temptid thin herte, that thou lye to the Hooli Goost, and to defraude of the prijs of the feeld?
3 Então perguntou Pedro: "Ananias, como você permitiu que Satanás enchesse o seu coração, a ponto de você mentir ao Espírito Santo e guardar para si uma parte do dinheiro que recebeu pela propriedade?
4 Whethir it vnseld was not thin; and whanne it was seld, it was in thi power? Whi hast thou put this thing in thin herte? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.
4 Ela não lhe pertencia? E, depois de vendida, o dinheiro não estava em seu poder? O que o levou a pensar em fazer tal coisa? Você não mentiu aos homens, mas sim a Deus".
5 Anany herde these wordis, and felde doun, and was deed. And greet drede was maad on alle that herden.
5 Ouvindo isso, Ananias caiu e morreu. Grande temor apoderou-se de todos os que ouviram o que tinha acontecido.
6 And yonge men risen, and mouyden hym awei, and baren hym out, and birieden.
6 Então os moços vieram, envolveram seu corpo, levaram-no para fora e o sepultaram.
7 And ther was maad as a space of thre ouris, and his wijf knewe not that thing that was don, and entride.
7 Cerca de três horas mais tarde, entrou sua mulher, sem saber o que havia acontecido.
8 And Petre answerde to hir, Womman, seie to me, whether ye seelden the feeld for so mych? And sche seide, Yhe, for so mych.
8 Pedro lhe perguntou: "Diga-me, foi esse o preço que vocês conseguiram pela propriedade? " Respondeu ela: "Sim, foi esse mesmo".
9 And Petre seide to hyr, What bifelde to you, to tempte the spirit of the Lord? Lo! the feet of hem that han birieden thin hosebonde ben at the dore, and thei schulen bere thee out.
9 Pedro lhe disse: "Por que vocês entraram em acordo para tentar o Espírito do Senhor? Veja! Estão à porta os pés dos que sepultaram seu marido, e eles a levarão também".
10 Anoon sche felde doun at hise feet, and diede. And the yonge men entriden, and founden hir deed, and thei baren hir out, and birieden to hir hosebonde.
10 Naquele mesmo instante, ela caiu aos pés dele e morreu. Então os moços entraram e, encontrando-a morta, levaram-na e a sepultaram ao lado de seu marido.
11 And greet drede was maad in al the chirche, and in to alle that herden these thingis.
11 E grande temor apoderou-se de toda a igreja e de todos os que ouviram falar desses acontecimentos.
12 And bi the hoondis of the apostlis signes and many wondris weren maad in the puple. And alle weren of oon acord in the porche of Salomon.
12 Os apóstolos realizavam muitos sinais e maravilhas entre o povo. Todos os que creram costumavam reunir-se no Pórtico de Salomão.
13 But no man of othere durste ioyne hymsilf with hem, but the puple magnyfiede hem.
13 Dos demais, ninguém ousava juntar-se a eles, embora o povo os tivesse em alto conceito.
14 And the multitude of men and of wymmen bileuynge in the Lord was more encreessid,
14 Em número cada vez maior, homens e mulheres criam no Senhor e lhes eram acrescentados,
15 so that thei brouyten out sike men in to stretis, and leiden in litle beddis and couchis, that whanne Petre cam, nameli the schadew of hym schulde schadewe ech of hem, and thei schulden be delyuerid fro her syknessis.
15 de modo que o povo também levava os doentes às ruas e os colocava em camas e macas, para que pelo menos a sombra de Pedro se projetasse sobre alguns, enquanto ele passava.
16 And the multitude of citees niy to Jerusalem ran, bryngynge sijk men, and that weren trauelid of vnclene spiritis, whiche alle weren heelid.
16 Afluíam também multidões das cidades próximas a Jerusalém, trazendo seus doentes e os que eram atormentados por espíritos imundos; e todos eram curados.
17 But the prince of preestis roos vp, and alle that weren with hym, that is the eresye of Saduceis, and weren fillid with enuye;
17 Então o sumo sacerdote e todos os seus companheiros, membros do partido dos saduceus, ficaram cheios de inveja.
18 and leiden hondis on the apostlis, and puttiden hem in the comyn warde.
18 Por isso, mandaram prender os apóstolos, colocando-os numa prisão pública.
19 But the aungel of the Lord openyde bi nyyt the yatis of the prisoun, and ledde hem out, and seide, Go ye,
19 Mas durante a noite um anjo do Senhor abriu as portas do cárcere, levou-os para fora e
20 and stonde ye, and speke in the temple to the puple alle the wordis of this lijf.
20 disse: "Dirijam-se ao templo e relatem ao povo toda a mensagem desta Vida".
21 Whom whanne thei hadden herd, thei entriden eerli in to the temple, and tauyten. And the prince of preestis cam, and thei that weren with him, and clepiden togidre the counsel, and alle the eldre men of the children of Israel; and senten to the prisoun, that thei schulden be brouyt forth.
21 Ao amanhecer, eles entraram no pátio do templo, como haviam sido instruídos, e começaram a ensinar o povo. Quando chegaram o sumo sacerdote e os que os seus companheiros, convocaram o Sinédrio — toda a assembléia dos líderes religiosos de Israel — e mandaram buscar os apóstolos na prisão.
22 And whanne the mynystris camen, founden hem not, and for the prisoun was openyd, thei turneden ayen,
22 Todavia, ao chegarem à prisão, os guardas não os encontraram ali. Então, voltaram e relataram:
23 and teelden, and seiden, We founden the prisoun schit with al diligence, and the keperis stondynge at the yatis; but we opneden, and founden no man ther ynne.
23 "Encontramos a prisão trancada com toda a segurança, com os guardas diante das portas; mas, quando as abrimos não havia ninguém".
24 And as the maiestratis of the temple, and the princis of preestis herden these wordis, thei doutiden of hem, what was don.
24 Diante desse relato, o capitão da guarda do templo e os chefes dos sacerdotes ficaram perplexos, imaginando o que teria acontecido.
25 But a man cam, and teelde to hem, For lo! tho men whiche ye han put in to prisoun, ben in the temple, and stonden, and techen the puple.
25 Nesse momento chegou alguém e disse: "Os homens que os senhores puseram na prisão estão no pátio do templo, ensinando o povo".
26 Thanne the magistrat wente with the mynystris, and brouyte hem with out violence; for thei dredden the puple, lest thei schulden be stonyd.
26 Então, indo para lá com os guardas, o capitão trouxe os apóstolos, mas sem o uso de força, pois temiam que o povo os apedrejasse.
27 And whanne thei hadden brouyt hem, thei settiden hem in the counsel; and the princes of prestis axiden hem,
27 Tendo levado os apóstolos, apresentaram-nos ao Sinédrio para serem interrogados pelo sumo sacerdote,
28 and seiden, In comaundement we comaundiden you, that ye schulden not teche in this name, and lo! ye han fillid Jerusalem with youre teching, and ye wolen bringe on vs the blood of this man.
28 que lhes disse: "Demos ordens expressas a vocês para que não ensinassem neste nome. Todavia, vocês encheram Jerusalém com sua doutrina e nos querem tornar culpados do sangue desse homem".
29 And Petre answeride, and the apostlis, and seiden, It bihoueth to obeie to God, more than to men.
29 Pedro e os outros apóstolos responderam: "É preciso obedecer antes a Deus do que aos homens!
30 God of oure fadris reiside Jhesu, whom ye slowen, hangynge in a tre.
30 O Deus dos nossos antepassados ressuscitou Jesus, a quem os senhores mataram, suspendendo-o num madeiro.
31 God enhaunside with his riythond this prince and sauyour, that penaunce were yyue to Israel, and remyssioun of synnes.
31 Deus o exaltou, colocando-o à sua direita como Príncipe e Salvador, para dar a Israel arrependimento e perdão de pecados.
32 And we ben witnessis of these wordis, and the Hooli Goost, whom God yaf to alle obeischinge to him.
32 Nós somos testemunhas destas coisas, bem como o Espírito Santo, que Deus concedeu aos que lhe obedecem".
33 Whanne thei herden these thingis, thei weren turmentid, and thouyten to sle hem.
33 Ouvindo isso, eles ficaram furiosos e queriam matá-los.
34 But a man roos in the counsel, a Farise, Gamaliel bi name, a doctour of the lawe, a worschipful man to al the puple, and comaundide the men to be put without forth for a while.
34 Mas um fariseu chamado Gamaliel, mestre da lei, respeitado por todo o povo, levantou-se no Sinédrio e pediu que os homens fossem retirados por um momento.
35 And he seide to hem, Ye men of Israel, take tent to you silf on these men, what ye schulen do.
35 Então lhes disse: "Israelitas, considerem cuidadosamente o que pretendem fazer a esses homens.
36 For bifore these daies Teodas, that seide hym silf to be sum man, to whom a noumbre of men consentiden, aboute foure hundrid; which was slayn, and alle that bileueden to hym, weren disparplit, and brouyt to nouyt.
36 Há algum tempo, apareceu Teudas, reivindicando ser alguém, e cerca de quatrocentos homens se juntaram a ele. Ele foi morto, todos os seus seguidores se dispersaram e acabaram em nada.
37 Aftir this, Judas of Galilee was in the daies of professioun, and turnyde awei the puple aftir hym; and alle hou manye euere consentiden to hym, weren scatered, and he perischide.
37 Depois dele, nos dias do recenseamento, apareceu Judas, o galileu, que liderou um grupo em rebelião. Ele também foi morto, e todos os seus seguidores foram dispersos.
38 And now therfor Y seie to you, departe ye fro these men, and suffre ye hem; for if this counsel ether werk is of men, it schal be vndon;
38 Portanto, neste caso eu os aconselho: deixem esses homens em paz e soltem-nos. Se o propósito ou atividade deles for de origem humana, fracassará;
39 but if it is of God, ye moun not vndo hem, lest perauenture ye be foundun to repugne God.
39 se proceder de Deus, vocês não serão capazes de impedi-los, pois se acharão lutando contra Deus".
40 And thei consentiden to him; and thei clepiden togidere the apostlis, and denounsiden to hem, that weren betun, that thei schulden no more speke in the name of Jhesu, and thei leten hem go.
40 Eles foram convencidos pelo discurso de Gamaliel. Chamaram os apóstolos e mandaram açoitá-los. Depois, ordenaram-lhes que não falassem em nome de Jesus e os deixaram sair em liberdade.
41 And thei wenten ioiynge fro the siyt of the counsel, that thei weren had worthi to suffre dispisyng for the name of Jhesu. But ech dai thei ceessiden not in the temple, and aboute housis, to teche and to preche Jhesu Crist.
41 Os apóstolos saíram do Sinédrio, alegres por terem sido considerados dignos de serem humilhados por causa do Nome.
42 — ausente —
42 Todos os dias, no templo e de casa em casa, não deixavam de ensinar e proclamar que Jesus é o Cristo.
