1 But wite thou this thing, that in the laste daies perelouse tymes schulen neiye, and men schulen be louynge hem silf,
1 Sabe, porém, isto: que nos últimos dias sobrevirão tempos trabalhosos;
2 coueitouse, hiy of bering, proude, blasfemeris, not obedient to fadir and modir, vnkynde,
2 porque haverá homens amantes de si mesmos, avarentos, presunçosos, soberbos, blasfemos, desobedientes a pais e mães, ingratos, profanos,
3 cursid, with outen affeccioun, with out pees, false blameris, vncontynent, vnmylde,
3 sem afeto natural, irreconciliáveis, caluniadores, incontinentes, cruéis, sem amor para com os bons,
4 with out benygnyte, traitouris, ouerthwert, bollun with proude thouytis, blynde, loueris of lustis more than of God,
4 traidores, obstinados, orgulhosos, mais amigos dos deleites do que amigos de Deus,
5 hauynge the licknesse of pitee, but denyynge the vertu of it. And eschewe thou these men.
5 tendo aparência de piedade, mas negando a eficácia dela. Destes afasta-te.
6 Of these thei ben that persen housis, and leden wymmen caitifs chargid with synnes, whiche ben led with dyuerse desiris, euere more lernynge,
6 Porque deste número são os que se introduzem pelas casas e levam cativas mulheres néscias carregadas de pecados, levadas de várias concupiscências,
7 and neuere perfitli comynge to the science of treuthe.
7 que aprendem sempre e nunca podem chegar ao conhecimento da verdade.
8 And as Jannes and Mambres ayenstoden Moises, so these ayenstonden treuthe, men corrupt in vndirstonding, repreuyd aboute the feith.
8 E, como Janes e Jambres resistiram a Moisés, assim também estes resistem à verdade, sendo homens corruptos de entendimento e réprobos quanto à fé.
9 But ferthere thei schulen not profite, for the vnwisdom of hem schal be knowun to alle men, as hern was.
9 Não irão, porém, avante; porque a todos será manifesto o seu desvario, como também o foi o daqueles.
10 But thou hast getun my teching, ordinaunce, purposing, feith, long abiding, loue,
10 Tu, porém, tens seguido a minha doutrina, modo de viver, intenção, fé, longanimidade, amor, paciência,
11 pacience, persecuciouns, passiouns, whiche weren maad to me at Antioche, at Ycony, at Listris, what maner persecucyouns Y suffride, and the Lord hath delyuered me of alle.
11 perseguições e aflições tais quais me aconteceram em Antioquia, em Icônio e em Listra; quantas perseguições sofri, e o Senhor de todas me livrou.
12 And alle men that wolen lyue feithfuli in Crist Jhesu, schulen suffre persecucioun.
12 E também todos os que piamente querem viver em Cristo Jesus padecerão perseguições.
13 But yuele men and disseyueris schulen encreese in to worse, errynge, and sendinge in to errour.
13 Mas os homens maus e enganadores irão de mal para pior, enganando e sendo enganados.
14 But dwelle thou in these thingis that thou hast lerud, and that ben bitakun to thee, witinge of whom thou hast lerud;
14 Tu, porém, permanece naquilo que aprendeste e de que foste inteirado, sabendo de quem o tens aprendido.
15 for thou hast knowun hooli lettris fro thi youthe, whiche moun lerne thee to heelthe, bi feith that is in Crist Jhesu.
15 E que, desde a tua meninice, sabes as sagradas letras, que podem fazer-te sábio para a salvação, pela fé que há em Cristo Jesus.
16 For al scripture inspirid of God is profitable to teche, to repreue, to chastice, to lerne in riytwisnes, that the man of God be parfit, lerud to al good werk.
16 Toda Escritura divinamente inspirada é proveitosa para ensinar, para redarguir, para corrigir, para instruir em justiça,
17 — ausente —
17 para que o homem de Deus seja perfeito e perfeitamente instruído para toda boa obra.
