1 Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde.
1 Amazias, filho de Joás, começou a reinar em Judá no segundo ano do reinado de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel.
2 Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem.
2 Amazias tinha 25 anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou em Jerusalém por 29 anos. Sua mãe se chamava Jeoadã e era de Jerusalém.
3 And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli,
3 Amazias fez o que era certo aos olhos do S enhor , mas não como seu antepassado Davi. Seguiu o exemplo de seu pai, Joás.
4 that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis.

5 And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir;

6 but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn `the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne.
6 Contudo, não matou os filhos dos assassinos, em obediência ao mandamento do S enhor registrado por Moisés no Livro da Lei: “Os pais não serão executados por causa do pecado dos filhos, nem os filhos por causa do pecado dos pais. 9 Mas Jeoás, rei de Israel, respondeu a Amazias, rei de Judá, com a seguinte história: “Nos montes do Líbano, o espinheiro enviou esta mensagem ao poderoso cedro: ‘Dê sua filha em casamento a meu filho’. No entanto, um animal selvagem do Líbano veio, pisoteou o espinheiro e o esmagou.

15 Os demais acontecimentos do reinado de Jeoás e tudo que ele fez, incluindo a extensão de seu poder e sua guerra contra Amazias, rei de Judá, estão registrados no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel .
16 And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym.

19 And `sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there.

20 And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid.

24 and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne.
