1 But of this be assured: in the last days grievous times will set in.

2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, profane. They will be disobedient to parents, thankless, irreligious,
2 Porque as pessoas só amarão a si mesmas e ao dinheiro. Serão arrogantes e orgulhosas, zombarão de Deus, desobedecerão a seus pais e serão ingratas e profanas.
3 destitute of natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers. They will have no self-control, but will be brutal, opposed to goodness,
3 Não terão afeição nem perdoarão; caluniarão outros e não terão autocontrole. Serão cruéis e odiarão o que é bom,
4 treacherous, headstrong, self-important. They will love pleasure instead of loving God,
4 trairão os amigos, serão imprudentes e cheias de si e amarão os prazeres em vez de amar a Deus.
5 and will keep up a make-believe of piety and yet live in defiance of its power. Turn away from people of this sort.
5 Serão religiosas apenas na aparência, mas rejeitarão o poder capaz de lhes dar a verdadeira devoção. Fique longe de gente assim!
6 Among them are included the men who make their way into private houses and carry off weak women as their prisoners–women who, weighed down by the burden of their sins, are led by ever-changing caprice,
6 Entre tais pessoas há aqueles que se infiltram na casa alheia e conquistam a confiança de mulheres vulneráveis, carregadas de pecados e controladas por todo tipo de desejo,
7 and are always learning something new, and yet are never able to arrive at real knowledge of the truth.
7 mulheres que estão sempre em busca de novos ensinos, mas jamais conseguem entender a verdade.
8 And just as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also these false teachers withstand the truth–being, as they are, men of debased intellects, and of no real worth so far as faith is concerned.
8 Esses mestres se opõem à verdade, como Janes e Jambres se opuseram a Moisés. Têm a mente depravada, e sua fé não é autêntica.
9 But they will have no further success; for their folly will be as clearly manifest to all men, as that of the opponents of Moses came to be.
9 Contudo, não irão muito longe. Um dia, alguém verá como são insensatos, como aconteceu com Janes e Jambres.
10 But you have intimately known my teaching, life, aims, faith, patience, love, resignation,
10 Mas você sabe muito bem o que eu ensino, como vivo e qual é meu propósito de vida. Conhece minha fé, minha paciência, meu amor e minha perseverança.
11 and the persecutions and sufferings which I have endured; the things which happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. You know the persecutions I endured, and how the Lord delivered me out of them all.
11 Sabe quanta perseguição e quanto sofrimento suportei e o que me aconteceu em Antioquia, Icônio e Listra; o Senhor, porém, me livrou de tudo isso.
12 And indeed every one who is determined to live a godly life as a follower of Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
12 Sim, e todos que desejam ter uma vida de devoção em Cristo Jesus sofrerão perseguições.
13 But bad men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, misleading and being misled.
13 Mas os perversos e os impostores irão de mal a pior. Enganarão outros e eles próprios serão enganados.
14 But you must cling to the things which you have learnt and have been taught to believe, knowing who your teachers were,
14 Você, porém, deve permanecer fiel àquilo que lhe foi ensinado. Sabe que é a verdade, pois conhece aqueles de quem aprendeu.
15 and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise to obtain salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
15 Desde a infância lhe foram ensinadas as Sagradas Escrituras, que lhe deram sabedoria para receber a salvação que vem pela fé em Cristo Jesus.
16 Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing;
16 Toda a Escritura é inspirada por Deus e útil para nos ensinar o que é verdadeiro e para nos fazer perceber o que não está em ordem em nossa vida. Ela nos corrige quando erramos e nos ensina a fazer o que é certo.
17 so that the man of God may himself be complete and may be perfectly equipped for every good work.
17 Deus a usa para preparar e capacitar seu povo para toda boa obra.
