1 But of this be assured: in the last days grievous times will set in.
1 Lembre disto: nos últimos dias haverá tempos difíceis.
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, profane. They will be disobedient to parents, thankless, irreligious,
2 Pois muitos serão egoístas, avarentos, orgulhosos, vaidosos, xingadores, ingratos, desobedientes aos seus pais e não terão respeito pela religião.
3 destitute of natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers. They will have no self-control, but will be brutal, opposed to goodness,
3 Não terão amor pelos outros e serão duros, caluniadores, incapazes de se controlarem, violentos e inimigos do bem.
4 treacherous, headstrong, self-important. They will love pleasure instead of loving God,
4 Serão traidores, atrevidos e cheios de orgulho. Amarão mais os prazeres do que a Deus;
5 and will keep up a make-believe of piety and yet live in defiance of its power. Turn away from people of this sort.
5 parecerão ser seguidores da nossa religião, mas com as suas ações negarão o verdadeiro poder dela. Fique longe dessa gente!
6 Among them are included the men who make their way into private houses and carry off weak women as their prisoners–women who, weighed down by the burden of their sins, are led by ever-changing caprice,
6 Alguns deles entram nas casas e conseguem dominar mulheres fracas, que estão cheias de pecados e que são levadas por todo tipo de desejos.
7 and are always learning something new, and yet are never able to arrive at real knowledge of the truth.
7 São mulheres que estão sempre tentando aprender, mas nunca chegam a conhecer a verdade.
8 And just as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also these false teachers withstand the truth–being, as they are, men of debased intellects, and of no real worth so far as faith is concerned.
8 Assim como Janes e Jambres foram contra Moisés, assim também esses homens são contra a verdade. Eles perderam o juízo e fracassaram na fé.
9 But they will have no further success; for their folly will be as clearly manifest to all men, as that of the opponents of Moses came to be.
9 Mas não irão longe, pois todos verão como eles são tolos. Foi isso que aconteceu com Janes e Jambres.
10 But you have intimately known my teaching, life, aims, faith, patience, love, resignation,
10 Mas você tem seguido os meus ensinamentos, a minha maneira de agir e o propósito que tenho na minha vida. E tem seguido também a minha fé, a minha paciência, o meu amor, a minha perseverança,
11 and the persecutions and sufferings which I have endured; the things which happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. You know the persecutions I endured, and how the Lord delivered me out of them all.
11 as minhas perseguições e os meus sofrimentos. Você sabe tudo o que me aconteceu nas cidades de Antioquia, de Icônio e de Listra. Que terríveis perseguições eu sofri! Porém o Senhor me livrou de todas elas.
12 And indeed every one who is determined to live a godly life as a follower of Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
12 Todos os que querem viver a vida cristã unidos com Cristo Jesus serão perseguidos.
13 But bad men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, misleading and being misled.
13 Porém as pessoas más e fingidas irão de mal a pior, enganando e sendo enganadas.
14 But you must cling to the things which you have learnt and have been taught to believe, knowing who your teachers were,
14 Quanto a você, continue firme nas verdades que aprendeu e em que creu de todo o coração. Você sabe quem foram os seus mestres na fé cristã.
15 and that from infancy you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise to obtain salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
15 E, desde menino, você conhece as Escrituras Sagradas , as quais lhe podem dar a sabedoria que leva à salvação, por meio da fé em Cristo Jesus.
16 Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing;
16 Pois toda a Escritura Sagrada é inspirada por Deus e é útil para ensinar a verdade, condenar o erro, corrigir as faltas e ensinar a maneira certa de viver.
17 so that the man of God may himself be complete and may be perfectly equipped for every good work.
17 E isso para que o servo de Deus esteja completamente preparado e pronto para fazer todo tipo de boas ações.
