1 If one of you has a grievance against an opponent, does he dare to go to law before irreligious men and not before God's people?
1 Quando algum de vocês tem uma questão contra outro, como se atreve a submeter isso a juízo diante dos injustos e não diante dos santos?
2 Do you not know that God's people will sit in judgement upon the world? And if you are the court before which the world is to be judged, are you unfit to deal with these petty matters?
2 Ou vocês não sabem que os santos hão de julgar o mundo? Ora, se o mundo deverá ser julgado por vocês, será que vocês não são competentes para julgar as coisas mínimas?
3 Do you not know that we are to sit in judgement upon angels–to say nothing of things belonging to this life?
3 Por acaso vocês não sabem que havemos de julgar os próprios anjos? Quanto mais as coisas desta vida!
4 If therefore you have things belonging to this life which need to be decided, is it men who are absolutely nothing in the Church–is it they whom you make your judges?
4 Portanto, quando precisam julgar negócios terrenos, por que vocês constituem como juízes aqueles que não têm nenhuma aceitação na igreja?
5 I say this to put you to shame. Has it come to this, that there does not exist among you a single wise man competent to decide between a man and his brother,
5 Digo isso para a vergonha de vocês. Será que não existe nem ao menos um sábio entre vocês, que possa julgar entre seus irmãos?
6 but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?
6 Mas um irmão vai a juízo contra outro irmão, e isto diante de não crentes!
7 To say no more, then, it is altogether a defect in you that you have law-suits with one another. Why not rather endure injustice? Why not rather submit to being defrauded?
7 O simples fato de moverem ações uns contra os outros já é completa derrota para vocês. Por que não preferem sofrer a injustiça? Por que não preferem ficar com o prejuízo?
8 On the contrary you yourselves inflict injustice and fraud, and upon brethren too.
8 Mas vocês mesmos cometem injustiça e causam prejuízo, e isto aos próprios irmãos!
9 Do you not know that unrighteous men will not inherit God's Kingdom? Cherish no delusion here. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor any who are guilty of unnatural crime,
9 Ou vocês não sabem que os injustos não herdarão o Reino de Deus? Não se enganem: nem imorais, nem idólatras, nem adúlteros, nem afeminados, nem homossexuais,
10 nor theives, nor avaricious people, nor any who are addicted to hard drinking, to abusive language or to greed of gain, will inherit God's Kingdom.
10 nem ladrões, nem avarentos, nem bêbados, nem maldizentes, nem roubadores herdarão o Reino de Deus.
11 And all this describes what some of you were. But now you have had every stain washed off: now you have been set apart as holy: now you have been pronounced free from guilt; in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and through the Spirit of our God.
11 Alguns de vocês eram assim. Mas vocês foram lavados, foram santificados, foram justificados no nome do Senhor Jesus Cristo e no Espírito do nosso Deus.
12 Everything is allowable to me, but not everything is profitable. Everything is allowable to me, but to nothing will I become a slave.
12 “Todas as coisas me são lícitas”, mas nem todas convêm. “Todas as coisas me são lícitas”, mas eu não me deixarei dominar por nenhuma delas.
13 Food of all kinds is meant for the stomach, and the stomach is meant for food, and God will cause both of them to perish. Yet the body does not exist for the purpose of fornication, but for the Master's service, and the Master exists for the body;
13 “Os alimentos são para o estômago, e o estômago existe para os alimentos.” Mas Deus destruirá tanto o estômago quanto os alimentos. Porém o corpo não é para a imoralidade, mas para o Senhor, e o Senhor, para o corpo.
14 and as God by His power raised the Master to life, so He will also raise us up.
14 Deus ressuscitou o Senhor e também nos ressuscitará pelo seu poder.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them the members of a prostitute? No, indeed.
15 Vocês não sabem que o corpo de cada um de vocês é membro de Cristo? E será que eu tomaria os membros de Cristo e os faria membros de uma prostituta? De modo nenhum!
16 Or do you not know that a man who has to do with a prostitute is one with her in body? For God says, »The two shall become one.«
16 Ou não sabem que o homem que se une à prostituta forma um só corpo com ela? Porque, como se diz, “os dois se tornarão uma só carne”.
17 But he who is in union with the Master is one with Him in spirit.
17 Mas aquele que se une ao Senhor é um só espírito com ele.
18 Flee from fornication. Any other sin that a human being commits lies outside the body; but he who commits fornication sins against his own body.
18 Fujam da imoralidade sexual! Qualquer outro pecado que uma pessoa cometer é fora do corpo; mas aquele que pratica imoralidade sexual peca contra o próprio corpo.
19 Or do you not know that your bodies are a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is within you–the Spirit whom you have from God?
19 Será que vocês não sabem que o corpo de vocês é santuário do Espírito Santo, que está em vocês e que vocês receberam de Deus, e que vocês não pertencem a vocês mesmos?
20 And you are not your own, for you have been redeemed at infinite cost. Therefore glorify God in your bodies.
20 Porque vocês foram comprados por preço. Agora, pois, glorifiquem a Deus no corpo de vocês.
