1 And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel asked of Yahweh, saying, Who will go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?
1 Ora, depois da morte de Josué, sucedeu que os filhos de Israel perguntaram ao SENHOR, dizendo: Quem primeiro subirá por nós contra os cananeus, para lutar contra eles?
2 And Yahweh said, Judah will go up: look, I have delivered the land into his hand.
2 E o SENHOR disse: Judá subirá. Eis que entreguei a terra em sua mão.
3 And Judah said to Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot. So Simeon went with him.
3 E Judá disse a Simeão, seu irmão: Suba comigo para a minha terra, para que possamos lutar contra os cananeus; e eu, do mesmo modo, irei contigo para a tua terra. Então Simeão foi com ele.
4 And Judah went up; and Yahweh delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they struck of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
4 E Judá subiu; e o SENHOR entregou os cananeus e os ferezeus na sua mão; e mataram deles em Bezeque dez mil homens.
5 And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
5 E encontraram Adoni-Bezeque em Bezeque; e lutaram contra ele, e mataram os cananeus e os ferezeus.
6 But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
6 Porém Adoni-Bezeque fugiu; e eles o perseguiram, e o apanharam, e cortaram fora os seus polegares e os dedos grandes dos seus pés.
7 And Adoni-bezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their food] under my table: as I have done, so God has repaid me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
7 E Adoni-Bezeque disse: Setenta reis, com os seus polegares e dedos grandes dos pés decepados, juntavam sua carne debaixo da minha mesa; tal como eu fiz, assim também Deus me retribuiu. E o trouxeram a Jerusalém, e ali ele morreu.
8 And the sons of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
8 Ora, os filhos de Judá haviam lutado contra Jerusalém, conquistaram-na, feriram-na com o fio da espada, e atearam fogo à cidade.
9 And afterward the sons of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites that dwelt in the hill-country, and in the South, and in the lowland.
9 E, depois disso, os filhos de Judá desceram para lutar contra os cananeus que habitavam no monte, e no sul, e no vale.
10 And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron (now the name of Hebron formerly was Kiriath-arba); and they struck Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
10 E Judá foi contra os cananeus que habitavam em Hebrom; ora, o nome anterior de Hebrom era Quiriate-Arba; e eles mataram Sesai, Aimã e Talmai.
11 And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.)
11 E de lá ele foi contra os habitantes de Debir; e o nome de Debir era anteriormente Quiriate-Sefer.
12 And Caleb said, He who strikes Kiriath-sepher, and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.
12 E Calebe disse: Aquele que ferir Quiriate-Sefer, e a tomar; a ele darei Acsa, minha filha, por esposa.
13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
13 E Otniel, o filho de Quenaz, irmão mais novo de Calebe, tomou-a; e ele lhe deu Acsa, sua filha, por esposa.
14 And it came to pass, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she dismounted from off her donkey; and Caleb said to her, What do you want?
14 E sucedeu que, quando ela veio a ele, ela o levou a pedir ao seu pai um campo; e ela desceu do seu jumento; e Calebe lhe disse: O que queres?
15 And she said to him, Give me a blessing; for that you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
15 E ela lhe disse: Dá-me uma bênção; pois tu me deste uma terra ao sul; dá-me também fontes de água. E Calebe lhe deu as fontes do alto, e as fontes de baixo.
16 And the sons of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up out of the city of palm-trees with the sons of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the Negeb of Arad; and Amalek went and dwelt with them.
16 E os filhos do queneu, sogro de Moisés, subiram da cidade das palmeiras com os filhos de Judá para o deserto de Judá, que fica ao sul de Arade; e eles foram e habitaram no meio do povo.
17 And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and completely destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
17 E Judá foi com Simeão, seu irmão, e eles mataram os cananeus que habitavam em Zefate, e a destruíram por completo. E o nome da cidade passou a ser Horma.
18 Also Judah took Gaza with its border, and Ashkelon with its border, and Ekron with its border.
18 Judá também tomou Gaza com o seu termo, e Asquelom com o seu termo, e Ecrom com o seu termo.
19 And Yahweh was with Judah; and drove out [the inhabitants of] the hill-country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
19 E o SENHOR estava com Judá; e ele expulsou os habitantes do monte; mas não conseguiu expulsar os habitantes do vale, porque eles tinham carruagens de ferro.
20 And they gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken: and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.
20 E eles entregaram Hebrom a Calebe, como disse Moisés; e ele expulsou de lá os três filhos de Anaque.
21 And the sons of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the sons of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
21 E os filhos de Benjamim não expulsaram os jebuseus que habitavam em Jerusalém, mas os jebuseus habitam com os filhos de Benjamim em Jerusalém até este dia.
22 And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Beth-el; and Yahweh was with them.
22 E a casa de José, eles também subiram contra Betel; e o SENHOR estava com eles.
23 And the house of Joseph sent to spy out Beth-el. (Now the name of the city formerly was Luz.)
23 E a casa de José mandou espionar Betel (Ora, o nome anterior da cidade era Luz).
24 And the watchers saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said to him, Show us, we pray you, the entrance into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.
24 E os espiões viram um homem sair da cidade, e lhe disseram: Mostra-nos, rogamos-te, a entrada da cidade, e mostraremos misericórdia para contigo.
25 And he showed them the entrance into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man go and all his family.
25 E quando ele lhes mostrou a entrada da cidade, eles feriram a cidade com o fio da espada; mas deixaram ir aquele homem e toda a sua família.
26 And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.
26 E o homem foi para a terra dos heteus, e edificou uma cidade, e chamou o seu nome de Luz; e este é o seu nome até este dia.
27 And Manasseh did not drive out [the inhabitants of] Beth-shean and its towns, nor [of] Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites determined to dwell in that land.
27 Manassés não expulsou os habitantes de Bete-Seã e das suas aldeias, nem Taanaque e suas aldeias, nem os habitantes de Dor e das suas aldeias, nem os habitantes de Ibleão e das suas aldeias, nem os habitantes de Megido e suas cidades; mas os cananeus habitaram naquela terra.
28 And it came to pass, when Israel was waxed strong, that they put the Canaanites to slave labor, and did not completely drive them out.
28 E sucedeu que, quando Israel se fortaleceu, eles colocaram os cananeus sob tributo, e não os expulsaram por completo.
29 And Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
29 Tampouco Efraim expulsou os cananeus que habitavam em Gezer, mas os cananeus habitaram em Gezer entre eles.
30 Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became subject to slave labor.
30 Zebulom não expeliu os habitantes de Quitrom, nem os habitantes de Naalol; mas os cananeus habitaram entre eles, e se tornaram tributários.
31 Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;
31 Aser não expeliu os habitantes de Aco, nem os habitantes de Sidom, nem os de Alabe, nem os de Aczibe, nem os de Helba, nem os de Afeque, nem os de Reobe;
32 but the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.
32 mas os aseritas habitaram no meio dos cananeus, os habitantes da terra; pois eles não os expulsaram.
33 Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became subject to slave labor.
33 Naftali não expulsou os habitantes de Bete-Semes, nem os habitantes de Bete-Anate; mas habitou no meio dos cananeus, os habitantes da terra; todavia, os habitantes de Bete-Semes e os de Bete-Anate se tornaram seus tributários.
34 And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the hill-country; for they would not allow them to come down to the valley;
34 E os amorreus forçaram os filhos de Dã até o monte; pois não o fariam descer até o vale;
35 but the Amorites determined to dwell in mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to slave labor.
35 mas os amorreus habitariam no monte Heres, em Aijalom, e em Saalabim; contudo, a mão da casa de José prevaleceu, e assim eles se tornaram tributários.
36 And the border of the Amorites was the Edomites, from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
36 E o termo dos amorreus era da subida de Acrabim, a partir da rocha, e para cima.
