Deuteronômio 1

1 These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the Arabah across from Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Di-zahab.
1 São estas as palavras que Moisés falou a todo o Israel, dalém do Jordão, no deserto, na Arabá, defronte do mar de Sufe, entre Parã, Tofel, Labã, Hazerote e Di-Zaabe.
2 It is eleven days' [journey] from Horeb by the way of mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea.
2 Jornada de onze dias há desde Horebe, pelo caminho da montanha de Seir, até Cades-Barneia.
3 And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, according to all that Yahweh had given him in commandment to them;
3 Sucedeu que, no ano quadragésimo, no primeiro dia do undécimo mês, falou Moisés aos filhos de Israel, segundo tudo o que o Senhor lhe mandara a respeito deles,
4 after he had struck Sihon the king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, who dwelt in Ashtaroth, at Edrei.
4 depois que feriu a Seom, rei dos amorreus, que habitava em Hesbom, e a Ogue, rei de Basã, que habitava em Astarote, em Edrei.
5 Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses began to declare this law, saying,
5 Além do Jordão, na terra de Moabe, encarregou-se Moisés de explicar esta lei, dizendo:
6 Yahweh our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying, You{+} have dwelt long enough in this mountain:
6 O Senhor , nosso Deus, nos falou em Horebe, dizendo: Tempo bastante haveis estado neste monte.
7 turn{+}, and take your{+} journey, and go{+} to the hill-country of the Amorites, and to all its neighboring places, in the Arabah, in the hill-country, and in the lowland, and in the South, and by the seashore, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates.
7 Voltai-vos e parti; ide à região montanhosa dos amorreus, e a todos os seus vizinhos, na Arabá, e à região montanhosa, e à baixada, e ao Neguebe, e à costa marítima, terra dos cananeus, e ao Líbano, até ao grande rio Eufrates.
8 Look, I have set the land before you{+}: go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your{+} fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.
8 Eis aqui a terra que eu pus diante de vós; entrai e possuí a terra que o Senhor , com juramento, deu a vossos pais, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, a eles e à sua descendência depois deles.
9 And I spoke to you{+} at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you{+} myself alone:
9 Nesse mesmo tempo, eu vos disse: eu sozinho não poderei levar-vos.
10 Yahweh your{+} God has multiplied you{+}, and see, you{+} are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
10 O Senhor , vosso Deus, vos tem multiplicado; e eis que, já hoje, sois multidão como as estrelas dos céus.
11 Yahweh, the God of your{+} fathers, may he make you{+} a thousand times as many as you{+} are, and bless you{+}, as he has promised you{+}!
11 O Senhor , Deus de vossos pais, vos faça mil vezes mais numerosos do que sois e vos abençoe, como vos prometeu.
12 How can I myself alone bear your{+} cumbrance, and your{+} burden, and your{+} strife?
12 Como suportaria eu sozinho o vosso peso, a vossa carga e a vossa contenda?
13 Take yourselves wise men, and understanding, and known, according to your{+} tribes, and I will make them heads over you{+}.
13 Tomai-vos homens sábios, inteligentes e experimentados, segundo as vossas tribos, para que os ponha por vossos cabeças.
14 And you{+} answered me, and said, The thing which you have spoken is good [for us] to do.
14 Então, me respondestes e dissestes: É bom cumprir a palavra que tens falado.
15 So I took the heads of your{+} tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you{+}, captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens, and officers, according to your{+} tribes.
15 Tomei, pois, os cabeças de vossas tribos, homens sábios e experimentados, e os fiz cabeças sobre vós, chefes de milhares, chefes de cem, chefes de cinquenta, chefes de dez e oficiais, segundo as vossas tribos.
16 And I charged your{+} judges at that time, saying, Hear [the causes] between your{+} brothers, and judge righteously between a man and his brother, and the sojourner who is with him.
16 Nesse mesmo tempo, ordenei a vossos juízes, dizendo: ouvi a causa entre vossos irmãos e julgai justamente entre o homem e seu irmão ou o estrangeiro que está com ele.
17 You{+} will not respect persons in judgment; you{+} will hear the small and the great alike; you{+} will not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you{+}, you{+} will bring to me, and I will hear it.
17 Não sereis parciais no juízo, ouvireis tanto o pequeno como o grande; não temereis a face de ninguém, porque o juízo é de Deus; porém a causa que vos for demasiadamente difícil fareis vir a mim, e eu a ouvirei.
18 And I commanded you{+} at that time all the things which you{+} should do.
18 Assim, naquele tempo, vos ordenei todas as coisas que havíeis de fazer.
19 And we journeyed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you{+} saw, by the way to the hill-country of the Amorites, as Yahweh our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
19 Então, partimos de Horebe e caminhamos por todo aquele grande e terrível deserto que vistes, pelo caminho da região montanhosa dos amorreus, como o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos ordenara; e chegamos a Cades-Barneia.
20 And I said to you{+}, You{+} have come to the hill-country of the Amorites, which Yahweh our God gives to us.
20 Então, eu vos disse: tendes chegado à região montanhosa dos amorreus, que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos dá.
21 Look, Yahweh your God has set the land before you: go up, take possession, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has spoken to you; don't be afraid, neither be dismayed.
21 Eis que o Senhor , teu Deus, te colocou esta terra diante de ti. Sobe, possui-a, como te falou o Senhor , Deus de teus pais: Não temas e não te assustes.
22 And you{+} came near to me every one of you{+}, and said, Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we will come.
22 Então, todos vós vos chegastes a mim e dissestes: Mandemos homens adiante de nós, para que nos espiem a terra e nos digam por que caminho devemos subir e a que cidades devemos ir.
23 And the thing pleased me well; and I took twelve men of you{+}, one man for every tribe:
23 Isto me pareceu bem; de maneira que tomei, dentre vós, doze homens, de cada tribo um homem.
24 and they turned and went up into the hill-country, and came to the valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.
24 E foram-se, e subiram à região montanhosa, e, espiando a terra, vieram até o vale de Escol,
25 And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down to us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which Yahweh our God gives to us.
25 e tomaram do fruto da terra nas mãos, e no-lo trouxeram, e nos informaram, dizendo: É terra boa que nos dá o Senhor , nosso Deus.
26 Yet you{+} would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your{+} God:
26 Porém vós não quisestes subir, mas fostes rebeldes à ordem do Senhor , vosso Deus.
27 and you{+} murmured in your{+} tents, and said, Because Yahweh hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
27 Murmurastes nas vossas tendas e dissestes: Tem o Senhor contra nós ódio; por isso, nos tirou da terra do Egito para nos entregar nas mãos dos amorreus e destruir-nos.
28 Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our heart to melt, saying, The people are greater and more numerous than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.
28 Para onde subiremos? Nossos irmãos fizeram com que se derretesse o nosso coração, dizendo: Maior e mais alto do que nós é este povo; as cidades são grandes e fortificadas até aos céus. Também vimos ali os filhos dos anaquins.
29 Then I said to you{+}, Don't dread, neither be afraid of them.
29 Então, eu vos disse: não vos espanteis, nem os temais.
30 Yahweh your{+} God who goes before you{+}, he will fight for you{+}, according to all that he did for you{+} in Egypt before your{+} eyes,
30 O Senhor , vosso Deus, que vai adiante de vós, ele pelejará por vós, segundo tudo o que fez conosco, diante de vossos olhos, no Egito,
31 and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that Yahweh your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you{+} went, until you{+} came to this place.
31 como também no deserto, onde vistes que o Senhor , vosso Deus, nele vos levou, como um homem leva a seu filho, por todo o caminho pelo qual andastes, até chegardes a este lugar.
32 Yet in this thing you{+} did not believe Yahweh your{+} God,
32 Mas nem por isso crestes no Senhor , vosso Deus,
33 who went before you{+} in the way, to seek you{+} out a place to pitch your{+} tents in, in fire by night, to show you{+} by what way you{+} should go, and in the cloud by day.
33 que foi adiante de vós por todo o caminho, para vos procurar o lugar onde deveríeis acampar; de noite, no fogo, para vos mostrar o caminho por onde havíeis de andar, e, de dia, na nuvem.
34 And Yahweh heard the voice of your{+} words, and was angry, and swore, saying,
34 Tendo, pois, ouvido o Senhor as vossas palavras, indignou-se e jurou, dizendo:
35 Surely not a man of these men of this evil generation will see the good land, which I swore to give to your{+} fathers,
35 Certamente, nenhum dos homens desta maligna geração verá a boa terra que jurei dar a vossos pais,
36 except Caleb the son of Jephunneh: he will see it; and to him I will give the land that he has trodden on, and to his sons, because he has wholly followed Yahweh.
36 salvo Calebe, filho de Jefoné; ele a verá, e a terra que pisou darei a ele e a seus filhos, porquanto perseverou em seguir ao Senhor .
37 Also Yahweh was angry with me for your{+} sakes, saying, You also will not go in there:
37 Também contra mim se indignou o Senhor por causa de vós, dizendo: Também tu lá não entrarás.
38 Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he will go in there: encourage him; for he will cause Israel to inherit it.
38 Josué, filho de Num, que está diante de ti, ele ali entrará; anima-o, porque ele fará que Israel a receba por herança.
39 Moreover your{+} little ones, that you{+} said should be a prey, and your{+} sons, that this day have no knowledge of good or evil, they will go in there, and to them I will give it, and they will possess it.
39 E vossos meninos, de quem dissestes: Por presa serão; e vossos filhos, que, hoje, nem sabem distinguir entre bem e mal, esses ali entrarão, e a eles darei a terra, e eles a possuirão.
40 But as for you{+}, you{+} turn, and take your{+} journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.
40 Porém vós virai-vos e parti para o deserto, pelo caminho do mar Vermelho.
41 Then you{+} answered and said to me, We have sinned against Yahweh, we will go up and fight, according to all that Yahweh our God commanded us. And you{+} girded on every man his weapons of war, and were forward to go up into the hill-country.
41 Então, respondestes e me dissestes: Pecamos contra o Senhor ; nós subiremos e pelejaremos, segundo tudo o que nos ordenou o Senhor , nosso Deus. Vós vos armastes, cada um dos seus instrumentos de guerra, e vos mostrastes temerários em subindo à região montanhosa.
42 And Yahweh said to me, Say to them, Don't go up, neither fight; for I am not among you{+}; lest you{+} be struck before your{+} enemies.
42 Disse-me o Senhor : Dize-lhes: Não subais, nem pelejeis, pois não estou no meio de vós, para que não sejais derrotados diante dos vossos inimigos.
43 So I spoke to you{+}, and you{+} didn't listen; but you{+} rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh, and were presumptuous, and went up into the hill-country.
43 Assim vos falei, e não escutastes; antes, fostes rebeldes às ordens do Senhor e, presunçosos, subistes às montanhas.
44 And the Amorites, that dwelt in that hill-country, came out against you{+}, and chased you{+}, as bees do, and beat you{+} down in Seir, even to Hormah.
44 Os amorreus que habitavam naquela região montanhosa vos saíram ao encontro; e vos perseguiram como fazem as abelhas e vos derrotaram desde Seir até Horma.
45 And you{+} returned and wept before Yahweh; but Yahweh didn't listen to your{+} voice, nor gave ear to you{+}.
45 Tornastes-vos, pois, e chorastes perante o Senhor , porém o Senhor não vos ouviu, não inclinou os ouvidos a vós outros.
46 So you{+} remained in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you{+} remained [there].
46 Assim, permanecestes muitos dias em Cades.
