1 For every hye prest that is taken from amoge men is ordeyned for men in thynges pertaynynge to god: to offer gyftes and sacryfyses for synne:
1 Porque todo sumo sacerdote, sendo tomado dentre os homens, é constituído nas coisas concernentes a Deus, a favor dos homens, para oferecer tanto dons como sacrifícios pelos pecados,
2 which can have compassion on the ignoraunt and on them that are out of the waye because that he him silfe also is compased with infirmitie:
2 e é capaz de condoer-se dos ignorantes e dos que erram, pois também ele mesmo está rodeado de fraquezas.
3 For the which infirmities sake he is bounde to offer for synnes as well for hys awne parte as for the peoples.
3 E, por esta razão, deve oferecer sacrifícios pelos pecados, tanto do povo como de si mesmo.
4 And no man taketh honour vnto him silfe but he that is called of God as was Aaron.
4 Ninguém, pois, toma esta honra para si mesmo, senão quando chamado por Deus, como aconteceu com Arão.
5 Even so lykewise Christ glorified not him silfe to be made the hye prest: but he that sayde vnto him: thou arte my sonne this daye begat I the glorified him.
5 Assim, também Cristo a si mesmo não se glorificou para se tornar sumo sacerdote, mas o glorificou aquele que lhe disse: Tu és meu Filho, eu hoje te gerei;
6 As he also in another place speaketh: Thou arte a prest for ever after the order of Melchisedech.
6 como em outro lugar também diz: Tu és sacerdote para sempre, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
7 Which in the dayes of his flesshe did offer vp prayers and sup plicacions with stronge cryinge and teares vnto him that was able to save him from deeth: and was also hearde because of his godlines.
7 Ele, Jesus, nos dias da sua carne, tendo oferecido, com forte clamor e lágrimas, orações e súplicas a quem o podia livrar da morte e tendo sido ouvido por causa da sua piedade,
8 And though he were Goddes sonne yet learned he obediece by tho thynges which he suffered
8 embora sendo Filho, aprendeu a obediência pelas coisas que sofreu
9 and was made parfaite and the cause of eternall saluacion vnto all them that obey him:
9 e, tendo sido aperfeiçoado, tornou-se o Autor da salvação eterna para todos os que lhe obedecem,
10 and is called of God an hye prest after the order of Melchisedech.
10 tendo sido nomeado por Deus sumo sacerdote, segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque.
11 Wherof we have many thynges to saye which are harde to be vttered: because ye are dull of hearinge.
11 A esse respeito temos muitas coisas que dizer e difíceis de explicar, porquanto vos tendes tornado tardios em ouvir.
12 For when as cocerninge ye tyme ye ought to be teachers yet have ye nede agayne that we teache you the fyrst principles of the worde of god: and are become soche as have nede of mylke and not of stronge meate:
12 Pois, com efeito, quando devíeis ser mestres, atendendo ao tempo decorrido, tendes, novamente, necessidade de alguém que vos ensine, de novo, quais são os princípios elementares dos oráculos de Deus; assim, vos tornastes como necessitados de leite e não de alimento sólido.
13 For every man that is feed with mylke is inexperte in the worde of rightewesnes. For he is but a babe.
13 Ora, todo aquele que se alimenta de leite é inexperiente na palavra da justiça, porque é criança.
14 But stronge meate belongeth to them that are parfecte which thorow custome have their wittes exercised to iudge both good and evyll also.
14 Mas o alimento sólido é para os adultos, para aqueles que, pela prática, têm as suas faculdades exercitadas para discernir não somente o bem, mas também o mal.
