1 And the derth waxed sore in the lande.
1 A fome continuava gravíssima na terra.
2 And when they had eate vp that corne which they brought out of the lande of Egipte their father sayde vnto them: goo agayne and by vs a litle food.
2 Quando eles acabaram de consumir o cereal que tinham trazido do Egito, Jacó disse aos filhos: — Voltem e comprem mais um pouco de mantimento para nós.
3 Than sayde Iuda vnto him: the man dyd testifie vnto vs saynge: loke that ye see not my face excepte youre brother be with you.
3 Mas Judá lhe disse: — Aquele homem nos advertiu solenemente, dizendo: “Vocês não verão o meu rosto, se o outro irmão não vier com vocês.”
4 Therfore yf thou wilt sende oure brother with vs we wyll goo and bye the food.
4 Se o senhor resolver enviar conosco o nosso irmão, iremos e compraremos mantimento para o senhor.
5 But yf thou wylt not sende him we wyll not goo: for the man sayde vnto vs: loke that ye see not my face excepte youre brother be with you.
5 Mas, se o senhor não o enviar, não iremos, pois o homem nos disse: “Vocês não verão o meu rosto, se o outro irmão não vier com vocês.”
6 And Israell sayde: wherfore delt ye so cruelly with me as to tell the man that ye had yet another brother?
6 Israel respondeu: — Por que vocês me fizeram esse mal, dando a saber àquele homem que vocês tinham outro irmão?
7 And they sayde: The man asked vs of oure kynred saynge: is youre father yet alyue? haue ye not another brother? And we tolde him acordynge to these wordes. How cowd we knowe that he wolde byd vs brynge oure brother downe with vs?
7 Eles responderam: — O homem nos fez perguntas específicas a respeito de nós e de nossa parentela, dizendo: “O pai de vocês ainda é vivo? Vocês têm outro irmão?” Nós apenas respondemos o que ele nos perguntou. Como podíamos adivinhar que ele nos diria: “Tragam o outro irmão?”
8 Than sayde Iuda vnto Israell his father: Send the lad with me and we wyll ryse and goo that we maye lyue and not dye: both we thou and also oure childern.
8 Então Judá disse a Israel, seu pai: — Deixe o jovem ir comigo, e nos levantaremos e iremos, para que vivamos e não morramos, nem nós, nem o senhor, nem os nossos filhinhos.
9 I wilbe suertie for him and of my handes requyre him. Yf I brynge him not to the and sett him before thine eyes than let me bere the blame for euer.
9 Eu serei responsável por ele; da minha mão o senhor poderá requerê-lo. Se eu não o trouxer de volta e não o puser diante do senhor, serei culpado para com o senhor pelo resto da minha vida.
10 For except we had made this tarieg: by this we had bene there twyse and come agayne.
10 Se não nos tivéssemos demorado, já teríamos ido e voltado duas vezes.
11 Than their father Israel sayde vnto the Yf it must nedes be so now: than do thus take of the best frutes of the lande in youre vesselles and brynge the man a present a curtesie bawlme and a curtesie of hony spyces and myrre dates and almondes.
11 Então Israel, seu pai, disse: — Se é assim, então façam o seguinte: peguem do mais precioso desta terra, ponham nos sacos para o mantimento e levem de presente a esse homem: um pouco de bálsamo e um pouco de mel, especiarias e mirra, nozes de pistácia e amêndoas.
12 And take as moch money more with you. And the money that was brought agayne in youre sackes take it agayne with you in youre handes peraduenture it was some ouersyghte.
12 Levem dinheiro em dobro. E devolvam o dinheiro restituído na boca dos sacos de cereal; é possível que tenha havido algum engano.
13 Take also youre brother with you and aryse and goo agayne to the man.
13 Levem também o irmão de vocês. Levantem-se e voltem àquele homem.
14 And God almightie geue you mercie in the sighte of the man and send you youre other brother and also Be Iamin and I wilbe as a ma robbed of his childern.
14 Deus Todo-Poderoso lhes dê misericórdia diante do homem, para que restitua o outro irmão e deixe que Benjamim volte com vocês. Quanto a mim, se eu perder os filhos, sem filhos ficarei.
15 Thus toke they the present and twise so moch more money with them and Ben Iamin. And rose vp went downe to Egipte and presented them selfe to Ioseph.
15 Então os homens pegaram os presentes, o dinheiro em dobro e Benjamim; levantaram-se, foram ao Egito e se apresentaram diante de José.
16 When Ioseph sawe Ben Iamin with them he sayde to the ruelar of his house: brynge these men home and sley and make redie: for they shall dyne with me at none.
16 Quando José viu que Benjamim estava com eles, disse ao administrador de sua casa: — Leve estes homens para casa, mate um animal e prepare tudo, pois estes homens comerão comigo ao meio-dia.
17 And the man dyd as Ioseph bad and brought them in to Iosephs house.
17 Ele fez como José lhe havia ordenado e levou os homens para a casa de José.
18 When they were brought to Iosephs house they were afrayde ad sayde: be cause of the money yt came in oure sackes mouthes at the first tyme are we brought to pyke a quarell with vs and to laye some thinge to oure charge: to brynge us in bondage and oure asses also.
18 Os homens tiveram medo, porque foram levados à casa de José. E diziam: — É por causa do dinheiro que da outra vez voltou nos sacos de cereal que nós fomos trazidos para cá, para que possa nos acusar e atacar, nos escravizar e tomar os nossos jumentos.
19 Therfore came they to the man that was the ruelar ouer Iosephs house and comened with him at the doore
19 E se aproximaram do administrador da casa de José, e lhe falaram à porta,
20 and sayde:Sir we came hither at the first tyme to bye foode
20 e disseram: — Meu senhor, já estivemos aqui uma vez para comprar mantimento.
21 and as we came to an Inne and opened oure sackes: beholde euery mannes money was in his sacke with full weghte: But we haue broght it agene with us
21 Mas, quando chegamos à estalagem, ao abrir os sacos de cereal, eis que o dinheiro de cada um estava na boca do saco de cereal, nosso dinheiro intacto. Por isso, trouxemos esse dinheiro de volta.
22 and other mony haue we brought also in oure handes to bye foode but we can not tell who put oure money in oure sackes.
22 Trouxemos também outro dinheiro conosco, para comprar mantimento. Não sabemos quem pôs o nosso dinheiro nos sacos de cereal.
23 And he sayde: be of good chere feare not: Youre God and the God of youre fathers hath put you that treasure in youre sackes for I had youre money. And he brought Simeon out to them
23 O administrador disse: — Que a paz esteja com vocês! Não tenham medo. O seu Deus e o Deus do pai de vocês colocou esse tesouro nos sacos de cereal. Eu recebi o dinheiro que vocês trouxeram. Então ele trouxe Simeão para fora.
24 ad led the into Iosephs house and gaue the water to washe their fete and gaue their asses prauender:
24 Depois, o administrador levou aqueles homens à casa de José e lhes deu água, e eles lavaram os pés. Também deu ração aos seus jumentos.
25 And they made redie their present agaynst Ioseph came at none for they herde saye that they shulde dyne there.
25 Então prepararam o presente, para quando José viesse ao meio-dia, pois ouviram que ali haviam de comer.
26 When Ioseph came home they brought the present in to the house to him which they had in their handes ad fell flat on the grounde befor him.
26 Quando José chegou à sua casa, trouxeram-lhe para dentro o presente que tinham em mãos e se inclinaram até o chão diante dele.
27 And he welcomed the curteously sainge: is youre father that old man which ye tolde me of in good health? and is he yet alyue?
27 Ele lhes perguntou como tinham passado e disse: — O pai de vocês, aquele velho de quem me falaram, vai bem? Ainda vive?
28 they answered: thy servaunte oure father is in good health ad is yet alyue. And they bowed them selues and fell to the grounde.
28 Responderam: — O seu servo, nosso pai, vai bem e ainda vive. E abaixaram a cabeça e se inclinaram.
29 And he lyfte vp his eyes and behelde his brother Ben Iamin his mothers sonne and sayde: is this youre yongest brother of whome ye sayde vnto me? And sayde: God be mercyfull vnto ye my sonne.
29 Quando José levantou os olhos, viu Benjamim, seu irmão, filho de sua mãe, e disse: — É este o irmão mais novo de vocês, de quem me falaram? E acrescentou: — Deus lhe conceda a sua graça, meu filho.
30 And Ioseph made hast (for his hert dyd melt apon his brother) and soughte for to wepe and entred in to his chambre for to wepe there.
30 José, profundamente emocionado por causa do seu irmão, apressou-se e procurou um lugar onde chorar. Entrou no quarto e ali chorou.
31 And he wasshed his face and came out and refrayned himselfe and bad sett bread on the table
31 Depois, lavou o rosto e saiu; conteve-se e disse: — Sirvam a refeição.
32 And they prepared for him by himselfe and for them by them selues and for the Egiptians which ate with him by them selues because the Egyptians may not eate bread with the Hebrues for that is an abhomynacyon vnto the Egiptians.
32 Serviram a comida dele numa mesa à parte, e a comida deles também numa mesa à parte. Também os egípcios que comiam com ele foram servidos numa mesa à parte, porque os egípcios não podiam comer com os hebreus, pois isso é abominação para os egípcios.
33 And they satt before him: the eldest acordynge vnto his age and the yongest acordyng vnto his youth. And the men marveled amonge them selves.
33 E sentaram-se diante dele por ordem de idade, desde o mais velho ao mais novo. Eles olhavam uns para os outros cheios de espanto.
34 And they broughte rewardes vnto them from before him: but Ben Iamins parte was fyue tymes so moch as any of theirs. And they ate and they dronke and were dronke wyth him.
34 Então José lhes apresentou as porções que estavam diante dele, e a porção de Benjamim era cinco vezes maior do que a dos outros. E beberam com ele até ficarem alegres.
