1 For ye youre selves knowe brethren of oure entraunce in vnto you howe that it was not in vayne:
1 Vocês mesmos sabem, irmãos, que a visita que lhes fizemos não foi inútil.
2 but even after that we had suffered before and were shamfully entreated at Phillippos (as ye well knowe) then were we bolde in oure God to speake vnto you the gospell of God with moche strivynge.
2 Sabem como fomos maltratados e quanto sofremos em Filipos, antes de chegarmos aí. E, no entanto, com confiança em nosso Deus, anunciamos a vocês as boas-novas de Deus, apesar de grande oposição.
3 Oure exhortacion was not to brynge you to erroure nor yet to vnclennes nether was it with gyle:
3 Portanto, como veem, não pregamos com a intenção de enganá-los, nem com motivos impuros, nem com artimanhas.
4 but as we were alowed of God that the gospell shuld be comitted vnto vs: even so we speake not as though we entended to please men but God which trieth oure hertes.
4 Em vez disso, falamos como mensageiros aprovados por Deus, aos quais foram confiadas as boas-novas. Nosso propósito não é agradar as pessoas, mas a Deus, que examina as intenções de nosso coração.
5 Nether was oure conversacion at eny tyme wt flatterynge wordes as ye well knowe nether in cloked coveteousnes God is recorde:
5 Como bem sabem, nunca tentamos conquistá-los com bajulação, e Deus é nossa testemunha de que não agimos motivados pela ganância.
6 nether sought we prayse of men nether of you nor yet of eny other when we myght have bene chargeable as the apostles of Christ
6 Quanto ao reconhecimento humano, nunca o buscamos de vocês, nem de nenhum outro.
7 but we were tender amonge you even as a norsse cheressheth her children
7 Ainda que, como apóstolos de Cristo, tivéssemos o direito de fazer certas exigências, agimos como crianças entre vocês. Ou melhor, fomos como a mãe que alimenta os filhos e deles cuida.
8 so was oure affeccion towarde you oure good will was to have dealte vnto you not the gospell of God only: but also oure awne soules because ye were deare vnto vs.
8 Nós os amamos tanto que compartilhamos com vocês não apenas as boas-novas de Deus, mas também nossa própria vida.
9 Ye remember brethre oure laboure and travayle. For we laboured daye and nyght because we wolde not be greveous vnto eny of you and preached vnto you ye gospell of God.
9 Não se lembram, irmãos, de como trabalhamos arduamente entre vocês? Noite e dia nos esforçamos para obter sustento, a fim de não sermos um peso para ninguém enquanto lhes anunciávamos as boas-novas de Deus.
10 Ye are witnesses and so is god how holyly and iustly and vnblameable we behaved oure selves amonge you that beleve:
10 Vocês mesmos são nossas testemunhas, e Deus também é, de que fomos dedicados, honestos e irrepreensíveis com todos vocês, os que creem.
11 as ye knowe how that we exhorted and comforted and besought every one of you as a father his childre
11 E sabem que tratamos a cada um como um pai trata seus filhos.
12 that ye wolde walke worthy of God which hath called you vnto his kyngdome and glory.
12 Aconselhamos, incentivamos e insistimos para que vivam de modo que Deus considere digno, pois ele os chamou para terem parte em seu reino e em sua glória.
13 For this cause thanke we god with out ceasynge because that when ye receaved of vs the worde wherwith God was preached ye receaved it not as the worde of man: but even as it was in dede the worde of God which worketh in you that beleve.
13 Portanto, nunca deixamos de agradecer a Deus, pois, quando vocês receberam de nós a mensagem dele, não consideraram nossas palavras meras ideias humanas, mas as aceitaram como palavra de Deus, o que sem dúvida são. E essa mensagem continua a atuar em vocês, os que creem.
14 For ye brethre became folowers of the congregacions of god which in Iewry are in Christ Iesu: for ye have suffered lyke thynges of youre kynsmen as we oure selves have suffered of the Iewes.
14 E então, irmãos, vocês foram perseguidos por seus próprios compatriotas, tornando-se assim imitadores das igrejas de Deus em Cristo Jesus na Judeia, que também sofreram nas mãos de seu próprio povo, os judeus.
15 Which as they kylled the lorde Iesus and their awne prophetes even so have they persecuted vs and God they please not and are contrary to all men
15 Eles mataram o Senhor Jesus e os profetas, e agora também nos perseguem. Não agradam a Deus e trabalham contra toda a humanidade,
16 and forbid vs to preache vnto the gentyls that they myght be saved to fulfill their synnes all waye. For the wrath of God is come on them even to the vtmost.
16 procurando impedir-nos de anunciar a salvação aos gentios. Com isso, continuam a acumular pecados, mas a ira de Deus finalmente os alcançou.
17 For as moch brethren as we are kept from you for a season as concernynge the bodyly presence but not in the herte we enforsed the more to se you personally with great desire.
17 Irmãos, depois de um breve tempo separados de vocês, embora nosso coração nunca os tenha deixado, esforçamo-nos por voltar a vê-los, pela grande saudade que sentimos.
18 And therfore we wolde have come vnto you I paul once and agayne: but Satan with stode vs.
18 Queríamos muito visitá-los, e eu, Paulo, tentei não apenas uma vez, mas duas; Satanás, porém, nos impediu.
19 For what is oure hope or ioye or croune of reioysynge? are not ye it in the presence of oure lorde Iesus Christ at his comynge?
19 Afinal, o que nos dá esperança e alegria? E qual será nossa magnífica recompensa e coroa diante do Senhor Jesus quando ele voltar? Serão vocês!
20 yes ye are oure glory and ioye.
20 Sim, vocês são nosso orgulho e nossa alegria.
