1 Rebuke not an elder: but exhorte him as a father and the yonger me as brethren
1 Não repreendas ao homem idoso; antes, exorta-o como a pai; aos moços, como a irmãos;
2 the elder wemen as mothers ye yonger as sisters with all purenes.
2 às mulheres idosas, como a mães; às moças, como a irmãs, com toda a pureza.
3 Honoure widdowes which are true wyddowes.
3 Honra as viúvas verdadeiramente viúvas.
4 Yf eny wyddowe have chyldren or neves let them learne fyrst to rule their awne houses godly and to recompence their elders. For that is good and acceptable before God.
4 Mas, se alguma viúva tem filhos ou netos, que estes aprendam primeiro a exercer piedade para com a própria casa e a recompensar a seus progenitores; pois isto é aceitável diante de Deus.
5 She that is a very wyddowe and frendlesse putteth her trust in god and continueth in supplicacion and prayer nyght and daye.
5 Aquela, porém, que é verdadeiramente viúva e não tem amparo espera em Deus e persevera em súplicas e orações, noite e dia;
6 But she that liveth in pleasure is deed even yet alive.
6 entretanto, a que se entrega aos prazeres, mesmo viva, está morta.
7 And these thynges commaunde that they maye be without faut
7 Prescreve, pois, estas coisas, para que sejam irrepreensíveis.
8 Yf ther be eny that provideth not for his awne and namly for them of his housholde the same denyeth the fayth and is worsse then an infydell.
8 Ora, se alguém não tem cuidado dos seus e especialmente dos da própria casa, tem negado a fé e é pior do que o descrente.
9 Let no wyddowe be chosen vnder threscore yere olde and soche a one as was the wyfe of one man
9 Não seja inscrita senão viúva que conte ao menos sessenta anos de idade, tenha sido esposa de um só marido,
10 and well reported of in good workes: yf she have noresshed children yf she have bene liberall to straugers yf she have wesshed the saynctes fete yf she have ministred vnto them which were in adversite yf she were continually geve vnto all maner good workes.
10 seja recomendada pelo testemunho de boas obras, tenha criado filhos, exercitado hospitalidade, lavado os pés aos santos, socorrido a atribulados, se viveu na prática zelosa de toda boa obra.
11 The yonger widdowes refuse. For when they have begone to wexe wantone to the dishonoure of Christ then will they mary
11 Mas rejeita viúvas mais novas, porque, quando se tornam levianas contra Cristo, querem casar-se,
12 havynge damnacio because they have broke their fyrst fayth.
12 tornando-se condenáveis por anularem o seu primeiro compromisso.
13 And also they learne to goo from housse to housse ydle ye not ydle only but also tryflynge and busybodyes speakynge thynges which are not comly.
13 Além do mais, aprendem também a viver ociosas, andando de casa em casa; e não somente ociosas, mas ainda tagarelas e intrigantes, falando o que não devem.
14 I will therfore that ye yonger weme mary and beare childre and gyde the housse and geve none occasio to ye adversary to speake evill
14 Quero, portanto, que as viúvas mais novas se casem, criem filhos, sejam boas donas de casa e não deem ao adversário ocasião favorável de maledicência.
15 For many of them are all redy turned bake and are gone after Satan.
15 Pois, com efeito, já algumas se desviaram, seguindo a Satanás.
16 And yf eny man or woman that beleveth have widdowes let the minister vnto them and let not the congregacion be charged: that yt maye have sufficient for them that are widdowes in dede.
16 Se alguma crente tem viúvas em sua família, socorra-as, e não fique sobrecarregada a igreja, para que esta possa socorrer as que são verdadeiramente viúvas.
17 The elders yt rule wel are worthy of double honoure most specially they which laboure in ye worde and in teachinge.
17 Devem ser considerados merecedores de dobrados honorários os presbíteros que presidem bem, com especialidade os que se afadigam na palavra e no ensino.
18 For the scripture sayth: Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne. And the labourer is worthy of his rewarde.
18 Pois a Escritura declara: Não amordaces o boi, quando pisa o trigo. E ainda: O trabalhador é digno do seu salário.
19 Agaynst an elder receave none accusacion: but vnder two or thre witnesses.
19 Não aceites denúncia contra presbítero, senão exclusivamente sob o depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas.
20 Them that synne rebuke openly that other maye feare.
20 Quanto aos que vivem no pecado, repreende-os na presença de todos, para que também os demais temam.
21 I testifie before god and the lorde Iesus Christ and the electe angels that thou observe these thynges with out hasty iudgement and do nothynge parcially.
21 Conjuro-te, perante Deus, e Cristo Jesus, e os anjos eleitos, que guardes estes conselhos, sem prevenção, nada fazendo com parcialidade.
22 Laye hondes sodely on no man nether be partaker of other mes synnes: kepe thy silfe pure.
22 A ninguém imponhas precipitadamente as mãos. Não te tornes cúmplice de pecados de outrem. Conserva-te a ti mesmo puro.
23 Drynke no lenger water but vse a lytell wyne for thy stommakes sake and thyne often diseases.
23 Não continues a beber somente água; usa um pouco de vinho, por causa do teu estômago e das tuas frequentes enfermidades.
24 Some mennes synnes are open before honde and goo before vnto iudgement: some mennes synnes folowe after.
24 Os pecados de alguns homens são notórios e levam a juízo, ao passo que os de outros só mais tarde se manifestam.
25 Lykwyse also good workes are manyfest before honde and they that are other wyse canot be hid.
25 Da mesma sorte também as boas obras, antecipadamente, se evidenciam e, quando assim não seja, não podem ocultar-se.
