1 To speake of thinges dedicate vnto ydols we are sure that we all have knowledge. knowledge maketh a man swell: bnt love edifieth.
1 No que se refere às coisas sacrificadas a ídolos, sabemos que todos temos conhecimento. O conhecimento leva ao orgulho, mas o amor edifica.
2 If eny man thinke that he knoweth eny thinge he knoweth nothynge yet as he ought to knowe.
2 Se alguém julga conhecer alguma coisa, ainda não conhece como deveria conhecer.
3 But yf eny man love god the same is knowen of him.
3 Mas, se alguém ama a Deus, esse é conhecido por ele.
4 To speake of meate dedicat vnto ydols we are sure that ther is none ydoll in the worlde and that ther is none other god but one.
4 Quanto a comer alimentos sacrificados a ídolos, sabemos que o ídolo, por si mesmo, nada é no mundo e que não há senão um só Deus.
5 And though ther be yt are called goddes whether in heven other in erth (as ther be goddes many and lordes many)
5 Porque, ainda que existam alguns que são chamados de deuses, quer no céu ou sobre a terra — como há muitos “deuses” e muitos “senhores” —,
6 yet vnto vs is there but one god which is the father of whom are all thinges and we in him: and one lorde Iesus Christ by whom are all thinges and we by him.
6 para nós, porém, há um só Deus, o Pai, de quem são todas as coisas e para quem existimos, e um só Senhor, Jesus Cristo, por meio de quem todas as coisas existem e por meio de quem também nós existimos.
7 But every man hath not knowledge. For some suppose that ther is an ydoll vntyll this houre and eate as of a thinge offered vnto ye ydole and so their consciences beynge yet weake are defyled.
7 Entretanto, nem todos têm esse conhecimento. Alguns, acostumados até agora com o ídolo, ainda comem desses alimentos como se fossem sacrificados a ídolos; e a consciência destes, por ser fraca, vem a contaminar-se.
8 Meate maketh vs not acceptable to god. Nether yf we eate are we ye better. Nether yf we eate not are we the worsse.
8 Não é a comida que nos torna agradáveis a Deus, pois nada perderemos, se não comermos, e nada ganharemos, se comermos.
9 But take hede that youre libertie cause not ye weake to faule.
9 Mas tenham cuidado para que essa liberdade de vocês não venha, de algum modo, a ser tropeço para os fracos.
10 For yf some man se ye which hast knowledge sit at meate in the ydoles teple shall not the conscience of hym which is weake be boldened to eate those thinges which are offered vnto ye ydole?
10 Porque, se alguém enxergar você, que tem conhecimento, sentado à mesa no templo de um ídolo, será que a consciência do que é fraco não vai ser induzida a participar de comidas sacrificadas a ídolos?
11 And so thorow thy knowledge shall ye weake brother perisshe for whom christ dyed.
11 E, assim, por causa do conhecimento que você tem, perde-se o irmão fraco, pelo qual Cristo morreu.
12 Whe ye synne so agaynst the brethren and wounde their weake consciences ye synne agaynst Christ.
12 E, deste modo, pecando contra os irmãos, ferindo a consciência fraca que eles têm, é contra Cristo que vocês estão pecando.
13 Wherfore yf meate hurt my brother I will eate no flesshe whill the worlde stondeth because I will not hurte my brother.
13 E, por isso, se a comida serve de escândalo ao meu irmão, nunca mais comerei carne, para que não venha a escandalizá-lo.
