¹ Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.

² Huixín chá camaksquíntit Dios stalanca ixtalacapa̱stacni la̱ lactzú lakskatá̱n talaktasá istziqui̱tcán xlacata tla̱n nama̱ta̱xtucá̱tit amá tapa̱xahuá̱n ni̱ma̱ ca̱ma̱lacnu̱nicani̱tántit.

² as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.

⁵ Huixín tí li̱pa̱huaná̱tit Cristo, Dios na̱ ca̱li̱ma̱nu̱yá̱n xastacnán chíhuix ni̱ma̱ maclacasquima li̱tlahuama ixchic ní nalatamá, y hasta li̱tanu̱yá̱tit curas tí tali̱scuja Dios tali̱lakachixcuhuí tú takalhí nac ixnacujcán, y Dios lakatí ca̱li̱pa̱xahuayá̱n porque li̱ta̱yayá̱tit li̱pa̱huaná̱tit Cristo.

⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ La̱ huan nac Escrituras:

⁶ Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ Li̱pu̱tum huixín tí li̱pa̱huaná̱tit Cristo, Dios ca̱lacsacni̱tán xlacata huata cha̱tum Minti̱cucán nakalhi̱yá̱tit, li̱tanu̱yá̱tit pu̱tum curas tí talakachixcuhuí cha̱tum lanca rey, li̱tanu̱yá̱tit ixca̱chiquí̱n Dios tí tali̱scuja, y li̱tanu̱yá̱tit ixcamán Dios tí ca̱lakalhamaná̱n. Dios ca̱ma̱tunujni xlacata naca̱maclacasquiná̱n nali̱chihui̱naná̱tit laclanca ixtascújut amá tí ca̱ma̱xtún ní ca̱paklhtu̱táj ixlapa̱nántit y ca̱ma̱xquí̱n lanca ixtaxkáket.

⁹ But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ Milh quilhtamacú huixín ni̱ ixli̱tanu̱yá̱tit ixcamán Dios, pero chí li̱tanu̱yá̱tit ixcamán Dios tí ca̱lacsacni. Huixín ni̱ ixmaklhcatzi̱ni̱tántit ixtapa̱xquí̱n Dios pero chí catzi̱yá̱tit la̱ ca̱pa̱xqui̱ni̱tán.

¹⁰ who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Li̱ta̱camán tí cca̱lakalhamán, huixín tancs calatapá̱tit juú ca̱quilhtamacú la̱ amá tí tamakchá̱n tamaklatamá a̱lacatunu pu̱latama̱n. Ni̱ catakokétit namá lacli̱xcájnit talacapa̱stacni ni̱ma̱ tataxtú nac ixnacujcán tí ni̱ talakapasa Dios y ma̱laktzanké ixli̱stacnicán.

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² Huixín tancs calatapá̱tit ixlacati̱ncán namá cristianos xlacata nata̱cxila la̱ tlahuayá̱tit li̱tlá̱n y ma̱squi chí ca̱lhcuyuya̱huayá̱n la̱ makni̱naní̱n, acxni Dios naca̱qui̱cxilhlacachá̱n tla̱n natama̱kachakxí y natapa̱xcatcatzi̱ní tú tlahuani̱t milacatacán.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.

¹³ Dios lakatí tí tali̱pa̱huán catakáxmatli tú tahuán ma̱paksi̱naní̱n xala ca̱quilhtamacú. Catakáxmatli rey porque kalhí li̱ma̱paksí̱n,

¹⁴ catakáxmatli gobernadores porque xlacán ca̱li̱lhca̱cani̱t xlacata naca̱ma̱xoko̱ni̱cán amá tí tatzaca̱tnán y naca̱paxcatcatzi̱nicán tí tatlahuá tú tla̱n.

¹⁴ or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

¹⁵ Dios lacasquín catlahuátit li̱tlá̱n xlacata naca̱ma̱quilhacsli̱yá̱tit namá laktakalhí̱n cristianos tí li̱xcájnit ca̱li̱chihui̱naná̱n.

¹⁵ Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ Huixín calatapá̱tit la̱ namá cristianos tí hua̱k tla̱n tatlahuá tú talacasquín, pero ni̱ xlacata hua̱k tla̱n tlahuayá̱tit catlahuátit tú li̱xcájnit. Huixín huata cali̱scújtit tú lakatí Dios.

¹⁶ as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁷ Huixín hua̱k caca̱rrespetartlahuátit, caca̱pa̱xquí̱tit quintacamcán tí tali̱pa̱huán Cristo, tancs calatapa̱tit ixlacatí̱n Dios la̱ tí ni̱cxni tatlahuaputún tú ni̱ nalakatí, y carrespetartlahuátit lanca quima̱paksi̱nacán emperador.

¹⁷ Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.

¹⁸ Huixín tí scujá̱tit caca̱rrespetartlahuátit mimpatroncán, cakaxpáttit tú tahuán la̱ amá tí tla̱n catzí y ca̱pa̱xqui̱yá̱n y la̱ amá tí lacsnú̱n talani̱t.

¹⁸ Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Porque Dios ca̱pa̱xcatcatzi̱ní ixcamán tí talakalhamán tapa̱tí ixta̱kxtakajnicán ma̱squi ni̱tú tali̱tzaca̱tnani̱t.

¹⁹ For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ Chí calacpuhuántit, para huixín tzaca̱tnaná̱tit y ca̱castigartlahuacaná̱tit ¿niculá naca̱pa̱xcatcatzi̱niyá̱n Dios minta̱kxtakajnicán ni̱ma̱ ta̱lapa̱nántit? Pero para huixín tlahuayá̱tit tú tla̱n y ca̱castigartlahuacaná̱tit entonces Dios xli̱ca̱na ama ca̱paxcatcatzi̱niyá̱n minta̱kxtakajnicán ni̱ma̱ ta̱lapa̱nántit.

²⁰ For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Dios ca̱lacsacni̱tán ca̱li̱ma̱nu̱yá̱n ixcamán xlacata naca̱li̱cxilá̱n para natlahuayá̱tit ixtalacasquín na̱ chuná la̱ Cristo quinca̱liakxtakajnán. Xlá quinca̱ma̱si̱nín la̱ quili̱pa̱ti̱tcán acxni tlahuayá̱u tú lakatí Dios, huá cca̱li̱huaniyá̱n catakokéu tú tláhualh.

²¹ For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² Xlá ni̱cxni tláhualh tala̱kalhí̱n, ni̱cxni quilhtáxtulh aktum ta̱kskahuín;

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ acxni ixuanicán lacli̱xcájnit tachihuí̱n ni̱cxni ixkalhti̱nán, acxni ma̱kxtakajni̱ca ni̱cxni lacpúhualh ca̱ma̱xoko̱ní tí tama̱kxtakájni̱lh, xlá huata chá ma̱s tancs li̱tá̱yalh li̱pa̱huán Dios, amá tí tancs ca̱ma̱xquí cha̱tunu tú ca̱mini̱ní.

²³ who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ Cristo mactánu̱lh hua̱k quintala̱kalhi̱ncán y ca̱lactláhualh acxni ni̱lh nac culu̱s. Xlá mákni̱lh quintala̱kalhi̱ncán quilakapu̱xokocán y chí lama̱náu la̱ mini̱ní porque Dios quinca̱cxilhlacachín chu̱ta naquinca̱ma̱tzanke̱naniyá̱n tú ixtlahuani̱táu. Cristo ma̱stájalh ixkalhni xlacata aquín nama̱ksa̱ni̱yá̱u quili̱stacnicán.

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ Aquín ixlapu̱layá̱u la̱ xata̱ktzanká̱n borregos, pero chí kalhi̱yá̱u cha̱tum quimaktakalhnacán tí quinca̱pu̱laniyá̱n xlacata nalakma̱xtuyá̱u quili̱stacnicán.

²⁵ For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
