¹ O God, my God, you, you do I seek: my heart thirsts for you, my body faints for you in a parched and waterless land.

¹ Ó Deus, tu és o meu Deus, eu te busco intensamente; a minha alma tem sede de ti! Todo o meu ser anseia por ti, numa terra seca, exausta e sem água.

² As I in the temple have seen you, beholding your power and your glory,

² Quero contemplar-te no santuário e avistar o teu poder e a tua glória.

³ for better than life is your kindness: my lips shall utter your praise.

³ O teu amor é melhor do que a vida! Por isso os meus lábios te exaltarão.

⁴ So, while I live, I will bless you, and lift up my hands in your name.

⁴ Eu te bendirei enquanto viver, e em teu nome levantarei as minhas mãos.

⁵ As with marrow and fat am I feasted; with joyful lips I will praise you.

⁵ A minha alma ficará satisfeita como de rico banquete; com lábios jubilosos a minha boca te louvará.

⁶ I call you to mind on my bed, and muse on you in the night watches;

⁶ Quando me deito lembro-me de ti; penso em ti durante as vigílias da noite.

⁷ for you have been my help, I joyfully sing in the shadow of your wings.

⁷ Porque és a minha ajuda, canto de alegria à sombra das tuas asas.

⁸ I cling close after you, your right hand holds me up.

⁸ A minha alma apega-se a ti; a tua mão direita me sustém.

⁹ But those who seek after my life shall go down to the depths of the earth,

⁹ Aqueles, porém, que querem matar-me serão destruídos; descerão às profundezas da terra.

¹⁰ given o’er to the power of the sword, or as prey for jackals to devour.

¹⁰ Serão entregues à espada e devorados por chacais.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God: all who own his allegiance will glory. For the mouth of the false shall be stopped.
