¹ O God, my God, you, you do I seek: my heart thirsts for you, my body faints for you in a parched and waterless land.

¹ Ó Deus, tu és o meu Deus; eu te busco ansiosamente. A minha alma tem sede de ti; meu corpo te almeja, como terra árida, exausta e sem água.

² As I in the temple have seen you, beholding your power and your glory,

² Assim, quero ver-te no santuário, para contemplar a tua força e a tua glória.

³ for better than life is your kindness: my lips shall utter your praise.

³ Porque a tua graça é melhor do que a vida; os meus lábios te louvam.

⁴ So, while I live, I will bless you, and lift up my hands in your name.

⁴ Assim, eu te bendirei enquanto viver; em teu nome, levanto as mãos.

⁵ As with marrow and fat am I feasted; with joyful lips I will praise you.

⁵ Como de saborosa comida se farta a minha alma; e, com júbilo nos lábios, a minha boca te louva,

⁶ I call you to mind on my bed, and muse on you in the night watches;

⁶ no meu leito, quando de ti me recordo e em ti medito, durante as vigílias da noite.

⁷ for you have been my help, I joyfully sing in the shadow of your wings.

⁷ Porque tu tens sido o meu auxílio; à sombra das tuas asas, eu canto de alegria.

⁸ I cling close after you, your right hand holds me up.

⁸ A minha alma apega-se a ti; a tua mão direita me ampara.

⁹ But those who seek after my life shall go down to the depths of the earth,

⁹ Porém os que procuram destruir a minha vida descerão às profundezas da terra.

¹⁰ given o’er to the power of the sword, or as prey for jackals to devour.

¹⁰ Serão entregues ao poder da espada e virão a ser pasto dos chacais.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God: all who own his allegiance will glory. For the mouth of the false shall be stopped.

¹¹ Mas o rei se alegrará em Deus; quem por ele jura se gloriará, pois se tapará a boca dos que proferem mentira.
