1 And Job answered the LORD and said,
1 Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor e disse:
2 I know that You can do all, and not any purpose is withheld from You.
2 “Bem sei que tudo podes, e nenhum dos teus planos pode ser frustrado.
3 Who is he who hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have spoken what I did not understand; things too wonderful for me; yea, I did not know.
3 Tu perguntaste: ‘Quem é este que, sem conhecimento, encobre os meus planos?’ Na verdade, falei do que eu não entendia, coisas que são maravilhosas demais para mim, coisas que eu não conhecia.
4 Hear, I beseech You, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You will cause me to know.
4 Disseste: ‘Escute, porque eu vou falar; farei perguntas, e você me responderá.’
5 I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You.
5 Eu te conhecia só de ouvir, mas agora os meus olhos te veem.
6 Therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
6 Por isso, me abomino e me arrependo no pó e na cinza.” Cena final
7 And it happened after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.
7 Depois que o Senhor falou estas palavras a Jó, o Senhor disse também a Elifaz, o temanita: — A minha ira se acendeu contra você e contra os seus dois amigos, porque vocês não falaram a meu respeito o que é reto, como o meu servo Jó falou.
8 And now take to yourselves seven young bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering. And My servant Job will pray for you. Surely I will lift up his face so as not to do with you according to your foolishness, in that you have not spoken of Me what is right, like My servant Job.
8 Agora peguem sete novilhos e sete carneiros, e vão até o meu servo Jó, e ofereçam holocaustos em favor de vocês. O meu servo Jó orará por vocês, e eu aceitarei a intercessão dele, para que eu não os trate segundo a falta de juízo de vocês. Porque vocês não falaram a meu respeito o que é reto, como o meu servo Jó falou.
9 And Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did as the LORD commanded them. The LORD also accepted the face of Job.
9 Então Elifaz, o temanita, Bildade, o suíta, e Zofar, o naamatita, foram e fizeram o que o Senhor lhes havia ordenado; e o Senhor aceitou a oração de Jó.
10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends. Also the LORD added to Job all that had been his, to double.
10 O Senhor restaurou a sorte de Jó, quando este orou pelos seus amigos, e o Senhor lhe deu o dobro de tudo o que tinha tido antes.
11 And came to him all his brothers, and all his sisters, and all those who had known him before. And they ate bread with him in his house, and consoled him and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought on him. Each one also gave him a piece of money, and each one a ring of gold.
11 Então vieram a ele todos os seus irmãos, todas as suas irmãs e todos os que o haviam conhecido antes, e comeram com ele em sua casa. E se condoeram dele, e o consolaram por todo o mal que o Senhor tinha enviado sobre ele. E cada um lhe deu dinheiro e um anel de ouro.
12 And the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than the beginning. For he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
12 O Senhor abençoou o último estado de Jó mais do que o primeiro. Ele veio a ter catorze mil ovelhas, seis mil camelos, mil juntas de bois e mil jumentas.
13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.
13 Também teve outros sete filhos e três filhas.
14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.
14 À primeira filha deu o nome de Jemima; à segunda chamou de Quézia; e à terceira, Quéren-Hapuque.
15 And in all the land there were not found women as beautiful as the daughters of Job. And their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.
15 Em toda aquela terra não havia mulheres tão bonitas como as filhas de Jó; e seu pai lhes deu herança entre seus irmãos.
16 After this Job lived a hundred and forty years, and he saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations.
16 Depois disto, Jó viveu mais cento e quarenta anos; e viu os seus filhos e os filhos de seus filhos, até a quarta geração.
17 And Job died, being old and full of days.
17 E assim Jó morreu, após uma longa velhice.
