1 But Job answered and said,
1 Então Jó respondeu:
2 How have you helped the powerless, or saved the arm that has no strength?
2 Como tens ajudado ao que não tem força e sustentado o braço que não tem vigor!
3 How have you advised those not wise, or fully declared wise plans?
3 como tens aconselhado ao que não tem sabedoria, e plenamente tens revelado o verdadeiro conhecimento!
4 To whom have you spoken words? And whose spirit came from you?
4 Para quem proferiste palavras? E de quem é o espírito que saiu de ti?
5 The departed spirits tremble under the waters, and those who dwell in them.
5 Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas, com os que ali habitam.
6 Hell is naked before Him, and the Pit has no covering.
6 O Seol está nu perante Deus, e não há coberta para o Abadom.
7 He stretches out the north over the empty place, and He hung the earth on nothing.
7 Ele estende o norte sobre o vazio; suspende a terra sobre o nada.
8 He binds up the waters in His thick clouds; and the cloud is not torn under them.
8 Prende as águas em suas densas nuvens, e a nuvem não se rasga debaixo delas.
9 He covers the face of His throne, spreading His cloud on it.
9 Encobre a face do seu trono, e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.
10 He has described a circle on the surface of the waters to the boundary of light with darkness.
10 Marcou um limite circular sobre a superfície das águas, onde a luz e as trevas se confinam.
11 The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astonished at His rebuke.
11 As colunas do céu tremem, e se espantam da sua ameaça.
12 He quiets the sea with His power, and by His understanding He shatters the proud.
12 Com o seu poder fez sossegar o mar, e com o seu entendimento abateu a Raabe.
13 By His Spirit the heavens were beautiful; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
13 Pelo seu sopro ornou o céu; a sua mão traspassou a serpente veloz.
14 Lo, these are the edges of His ways; but what a whisper of a word we hear of Him! And the thunder of His power who can understand?
14 Eis que essas coisas são apenas as orlas dos seus caminhos; e quão pequeno é o sussurro que dele, ouvimos! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o poderá entender?
