1 And Job answered and said,
1 Então, Jó respondeu e disse:
2 I have heard many such things. You are all miserable comforters.
2 Tenho ouvido muitas coisas como estas; miseráveis consoladores sois todos vós.
3 Shall words of wind have an end? Or what provokes you that you should answer?
3 Terão fim as palavras vãs? O que te faz responder assim?
4 I also could speak as you do; if your soul were in my soul's place. I could heap up words against you, and shake my head at you.
4 Eu também poderia falar como vós, se a vossa alma estivesse no lugar da minha alma; eu poderia amontoar palavras contra vós, e sacudiria a minha cabeça contra vós.
5 I might make you strong with my mouth, and the moving of my lips would spare you.
5 Mas eu vos fortaleceria com minha boca, e o movimento dos meus lábios abrandaria a vossa dor.
6 Though I speak, my pain is not held back, and though I forbear, in what way am I eased?
6 Embora eu fale, minha dor não é abrandada; e embora eu a tolere, em que sou aliviado?
7 But now He has made me weary; You have made all my company desolate.
7 Mas agora ele me deixou cansado; tu desolaste toda a minha companhia.
8 And You have plucked me, for it is a witness, and my failure rises up against me, and it answers to my face.
8 E tu me encheste de rugas, que são uma testemunha contra mim, e minha magreza que se levanta em mim, dá testemunho diante da minha face.
9 His anger has torn and hated me; He gnashes on me with His teeth; my enemy sharpens his eyes at me;
9 Ele me rasga em sua ira, me odeia; ele range contra mim com os seus dentes; meu inimigo afia seus olhos sobre mim.
10 They have gaped on me with their mouth; and have scornfully beaten me on the cheek; they gather themselves against me.
10 Ficaram boquiabertos diante de mim; Feriram-me sobre o queixo acusadoramente, e juntaram-se contra mim.
11 God has delivered me to the perverse; and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.
11 Deus me entregou aos ímpios, e me pôs nas mãos dos perversos.
12 I was at ease, but He has broken me in pieces; yea, He has also taken me by my neck and shaken me to pieces and set me up for His mark.
12 Eu estava tranquilo, mas ele me quebrou em partes; ele também tomou-me pelo pescoço, e me sacudiu em pedaços, e me pôs por seu alvo.
13 His archers hem me in; He splits my inward parts, and does not spare; He pours out my gall on the ground.
13 Seus arqueiros me cercam; ele fende meus rins em pedaços, e não me poupa, ele derrama a minha bílis sobre a terra.
14 He breaks me with break on break; He runs on me like a giant.
14 Ele me quebra com brecha sobre brecha; ele corre sobre mim como um gigante.
15 I have sewed sackcloth on my skin and thrust my horn in the dust.
15 Costurei pano de saco sobre minha pele, e contaminei o meu chifre no pó.
16 My face is reddened from weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
16 A minha face está avermelhada de tanto chorar, e sobre as minhas pálpebras está a sombra da morte;
17 though no violence is in my hand, and my prayer is pure.
17 não por haver qualquer injustiça em minhas mãos; também minha oração é pura.
18 Oh earth, do not cover my blood, and let not my cry have a place.
18 Ó terra, não cubras o meu sangue, e que meu clamor não encontre lugar.
19 Also now, behold, my Witness is in Heaven, and He who testifies of me is on high.
19 Também agora, eis que minha testemunha está no céu, e o meu registro está nas alturas.
20 My friends scorn me; my eye pours out tears to God.
20 Os meus amigos me desprezam, mas os meus olhos derramam lágrimas para Deus.
21 Oh that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleads for his neighbor!
21 Ó, se alguém pudesse pleitear por um homem com Deus, como um homem pleiteia por seu próximo!
22 For the years that are few will come, and I shall go the way from where I shall not return.
22 Quando alguns anos tiverem passado, então irei pelo caminho por onde eu não retornarei.
