1 And in the fourth year of king Darius, the word of Jehovah was to Zechariah, in the fourth of the ninth month, in Chislev.
1 E sucedeu que, no quarto ano do rei Dario, a palavra do SENHOR veio a Zacarias, no quarto dia do nono mês, que é Quisleu;
2 And Sharezer and Regem-melech, and his men, had sent to Bethel to seek the favor of the face of Jehovah,
2 quando eles enviaram à casa de Deus Sarezer e Régen-Meleque, e seus homens, para orarem diante do SENHOR,
3 to speak to the priests who belong to the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, consecrating myself as I have done these many years?
3 e para dizerem aos sacerdotes que estavam na casa do SENHOR dos Exércitos, e aos profetas dizendo: Devo eu chorar no quinto mês, separando-me, como tenho feito por tantos anos?
4 The word of Jehovah of hosts was to me, saying,
4 Então a palavra do SENHOR dos Exércitos veio a mim, dizendo:
5 Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months , even those seventy years, did you truly fast to Me, even to Me?
5 Fala a todo o povo desta terra, e aos sacerdotes, dizendo: Quando jejuastes e lamentastes, no quinto e no sétimo mês, durante aqueles setenta anos, foi mesmo para mim que jejuastes?
6 And when you ate, and when you drank, was it not for those eating, and for those drinking?
6 E quando comestes, e quando bebestes, não comestes para vós mesmos e bebestes para vós mesmos?
7 Are not these the words which Jehovah proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited, and prosperous with her cities all around her, and the Negeb and the Shephelah were inhabited?
7 Não devíeis ouvir as palavras que o SENHOR clamou através dos primeiros profetas, quando Jerusalém era habitada e próspera, com as cidades ao redor dela, quando homens habitavam o sul e a planície?
8 And the word of Jehovah was to Zechariah, saying,
8 E a palavra do SENHOR veio a Zacarias, dizendo:
9 So says Jehovah of hosts, saying, Judge true judgment, and practice kindness and pity, each man with his brother.
9 Assim falou o SENHOR dos Exércitos, dizendo: Executai juízo verdadeiro, e mostrai misericórdia e compaixão cada homem para com seu irmão;
10 And do not oppress the widow, or the fatherless, the alien, or the poor. And do not devise evil in your heart, of a man against his brother.
10 e não oprimais a viúva, nem o órfão, nem o estrangeiro, nem o pobre; e nenhum de vós intenteis o mal contra o seu irmão em seu coração.
11 But they refused to listen, and gave a stubborn shoulder, and they made their ears heavy from hearing.
11 Mas eles se recusaram a escutar, deram as costas, e ensurdeceram os seus ouvidos para que não ouvissem.
12 And they made their heart adamant from hearing the law and the words which Jehovah of hosts has sent by the former prophets through His Spirit. And great wrath was from Jehovah of hosts.
12 Sim, fizeram os seus corações como pedra de diamante, para que não ouvissem a lei, nem as palavras que o SENHOR dos Exércitos enviara pelo seu Espírito através dos primeiros profetas; por isso veio a grande ira do SENHOR dos Exércitos.
13 And it will be, just as He called, and they did not listen; so they called, and I did not listen, says Jehovah of hosts.
13 E aconteceu que, como ele clamou e eles não ouviram, também eles clamaram, e eu não ouvi, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
14 But I stormed them away on all the nations whom they did not know. And the land is desolated behind them, from passing and from returning; for they made the land of desire a waste.
14 Mas eu os espalhei com um turbilhão por entre todas as nações que eles não conheciam, e a terra foi assolada atrás deles, de modo que nenhum homem passava ou retornava; porque eles tornaram a terra agradável em desolação.
