¹ To the chief musician, on eight. A Psalm of David. Help, O Jehovah, for the saint ceases to be; for the faithful fail from among the sons of men.

¹ Salva-nos, Senhor, pois não existe mais o piedoso; os fiéis desapareceram dentre os filhos dos homens.

² They speak vanity, each man with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

² Cada um fala com falsidade ao seu próximo; falam com lábios lisonjeiros e coração dobre.

³ Jehovah shall cut off all with flattering lips and the tongue that speaks great things;

³ Corte o Senhor todos os lábios lisonjeiros e a língua que fala soberbamente,

⁴ Who say, We shall be strong by our tongue; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?

⁴ os que dizem: Com a nossa língua prevaleceremos; os nossos lábios a nós nos pertencem; quem sobre nós é senhor?

⁵ For the pain of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, I will now rise up, says Jehovah; I will set in safety; he pants for it.

⁵ Por causa da opressão dos pobres, e do gemido dos necessitados, levantar-me-ei agora, diz o Senhor; porei em segurança quem por ela suspira.

⁶ The words of Jehovah are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.

⁶ As palavras do Senhor são palavras puras, como prata refinada numa fornalha de barro, purificada sete vezes.

⁷ You shall keep them, O Jehovah; You shall preserve them from this generation forever.

⁷ Guarda-nos, ó Senhor; desta geração defende-nos para sempre.

⁸ The wicked walk around on every side, when vileness is exalted by the sons of men.

⁸ Os ímpios andam por toda parte, quando a vileza se exalta entre os filhos dos homens.
