1 After these things king Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and raised him, and set his seat above all the princes with him.
1 Depois desses acontecimentos, o rei Assuero elevou em dignidade Amã, filho de Amedata, o agagita, e lhe deu um lugar acima de todos os grandes que o rodeavam.
2 And all the king's servants who were in the king's gate were bowing and worshiping Haman, for the king had so commanded for him. But Mordecai did not bow nor worship.
2 Todos os servos do rei, que estavam à sua porta, dobravam o joelho e prostravam-se diante de Amã, por ordem expressa do rei; entretanto, Mardoqueu não queria nem dobrar o joelho, nem prostrar-se.
3 And the king's servants who were at the gate of the king said to Mordecai, Why do you disobey the king's command?
3 Por que, pois, lhe diziam os servos que estavam à porta real, desobedeces assim à ordem do rei?
4 And it happened, when they spoke daily to him, and he did not listen to them, they told Haman, to see if Mordecai's matters would stand. For he had told them that he was a Jew.
4 E como lhe repetissem isso todos os dias, sem que ele fizesse conta, denunciaram-no a Amã, para ver se esse Mardoqueu persistia em sua resolução, pois ele lhes havia dito que era judeu.
5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow nor worship him, then Haman was filled with fury.
5 Amã viu que Mardoqueu não queria nem inclinar-se, nem prostrar-se diante dele e isso o pôs em cólera.
6 And it was light in his eyes to reach forth a hand against Mordecai alone; for they had revealed to him Mordecai's people. And Haman sought to destroy all the Jews in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus, the people of Mordecai.
6 Mas teve como pouco vingar-se só de Mardoqueu, cuja raça conhecia, e procurou um meio de exterminar a nação de Mardoqueu, todos os judeus do reino de Assuero.
7 In the first month, it is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they made fall Pur, that is , the lot, before Haman day by day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month , the month Adar.
7 No primeiro mês, chamado Nisã, do ano duodécimo do reinado de Assuero, foi lançado o pur, isto é, a sorte, diante de Amã, para cada dia e para cada mês, até o duodécimo mês, isto é, Adar.
8 And Haman said to king Ahasuerus, There is a people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom. And their laws are different from every people, and they are not doing the king's laws. And it is not for the king's gain to let them alone.
8 Então Amã disse ao rei Assuero: Há em todas as províncias do teu reino uma nação dispersa e separada das outras; suas leis são diferentes das dos demais povos e se nega a observar as leis do rei. Não convém aos interesses do rei deixar essa gente em paz.
9 If it pleases the king, let it be written to destroy them; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
9 Se ao rei lhe parece bem, dê-se ordem de fazê-los perecer, e eu pesarei dez mil talentos de prata nas mãos dos funcionários, para que os recolham ao tesouro real.
10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' vexer.
10 Tirando o anel de seu dedo, o rei o entregou a Amã, filho de Amedata, o agagita, o opressor dos judeus.
11 And the king said to Haman, The silver is given to you, also the people, to do with them as seems good to you.
11 Eu te entrego, lhe disse, esse dinheiro e ao mesmo tempo esse povo; faze dele o que quiseres.
12 Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and it was written according to all that Haman had commanded to the king's satraps, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province. according to its writing, and to every people according to their language. It was written in the name of king Ahasuerus, and sealed with the king's ring.
12 No dia treze do primeiro mês foram convocados os escribas reais. Foram escritas pontualmente todas as ordens do rei aos sátrapas do rei, aos governadores de cada província e aos príncipes de cada nação, a cada província segundo sua escritura e a cada nação em sua língua própria. O edito estava assinado com o nome de Assuero e levava o selo real.
13 And the documents were sent by the runners into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take what they owned for a prize.
13 Foram expedidas cartas, por correios, para todas as províncias do rei, a fim de destruir, matar e exterminar todos os judeus, jovens, velhos, crianças e mulheres, num só dia, no dia treze do duodécimo mês chamado Adar e a fim de entregar ao saque os seus despojos.
14 A copy of the writing to be given as law in every province was published to all people to be ready for that day.
14 Uma cópia do edito, que devia ser promulgado em cada província, foi enviada a todos os povos, para que todos estivessem preparados para o dia marcado.
15 The runners went out, being burned by the king's word. And the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink. But the city, Shushan. was perplexed.
15 Por ordem do rei, os correios partiram a toda a pressa. O edito fora publicado primeiro em Susa, a capital, e enquanto o rei bebia acompanhado de Amã, a consternação reinava na cidade de Susa.
