1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
1 E o SENHOR falou a Moisés, dizendo:
2 “Speak to the ⌞Israelites⌟, and take from among them twelve staffs, ⌞a staff from each family⌟ from among all their leaders according to their families’ households. Write the name of each man on his staff,
2 Fala aos filhos de Israel e toma de cada um deles uma vara, segundo a casa de seus pais, de todos os seus príncipes, segundo as casas de seus pais, doze varas; escreve o nome de cada homem na sua vara.
3 and the name of Aaron on the staff of Levi, because one staff is for the head of each of ⌞their families⌟.
3 E escreverás o nome de Arão na vara de Levi, porque será uma vara para cada cabeça da casa de seus pais.
4 You must then put them in the tent of assembly ⌞before⌟ the testimony where I meet with you.
4 E porás as varas no tabernáculo da congregação, perante o testemunho, onde eu vos encontrarei.
5 And it will happen, the man whom I will choose, his staff will blossom, and so I will rid from upon myself the grumblings of the ⌞Israelites⌟, who are grumbling against you.”
5 E a vara do homem que eu escolher florescerá; e farei cessar as murmurações dos filhos de Israel contra mim, com que murmuram contra vós.
6 Moses spoke to the ⌞Israelites⌟, and all their leaders gave him a staff for each leader, one from ⌞each of their families⌟, twelve staffs, and the staff of Aaron was in the midst of their tribes.
6 E Moisés falou aos filhos de Israel; e todos os seus príncipes lhe deram, cada um, uma vara, para cada príncipe uma, segundo as casas de seus pais, doze varas; e a vara de Arão estava entre as suas varas.
7 And Moses put the staffs before Yahweh in the tent of testimony.
7 E Moisés pôs estas varas diante do SENHOR no tabernáculo do testemunho.
8 Then the next day, Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi blossomed and put forth a flower and produced blossoms, and it produced almonds.
8 E no dia seguinte, Moisés entrou no tabernáculo do testemunho, e eis que a vara de Arão, pela casa de Levi, havia florescido, e produzido botões de flores, e brotado renovos, e dado amêndoas.
9 Then Moses brought out to all the ⌞Israelites⌟ all the staffs before the presence of Yahweh, and they saw, and each man took his staff.
9 E Moisés trouxe todas as varas de diante do SENHOR a todos os filhos de Israel; e eles olharam, e cada homem tomou a sua vara.
10 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Bring back the staff of Aaron before the testimony as a guard and sign for the children of rebellion, and let them finish their grumblings before me and not die.”
10 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Traze de novo a vara de Arão perante o testemunho, para que seja um sinal para os rebeldes; e acabarás com as suas murmurações contra mim, para que não morram.
11 So Moses did; just as Yahweh commanded him, so he did.
11 E Moisés fez isso; como lhe ordenara o SENHOR, assim fez.
12 And the ⌞Israelites⌟ said to Moses, saying, “Look! We will die! We will be destroyed! All of us will perish!
12 E os filhos de Israel falaram a Moisés, dizendo: Eis que nós morremos, perecemos, todos nós perecemos.
13 Anyone who approaches the tabernacle of Yahweh will die. ⌞Will we all die⌟?”
13 Todo aquele que se aproximar do tabernáculo do SENHOR, morrerá; seremos todos consumidos pela morte?
