Josué 5

1 And it happened, when all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea heard that Yahweh dried up the waters of the Jordan in front of the ⌞Israelites⌟ until they crossed over, their hearts melted, and ⌞there was no courage left in them⌟ because of the presence of the ⌞Israelites⌟.
1 E sucedeu que, quando todos os reis dos amorreus, que estavam no lado oeste do Jordão, e todos os reis dos cananeus, que estavam perto do mar, ouviram que o SENHOR havia secado as águas do Jordão diante dos filhos de Israel, até que tivessem atravessado, o seu coração derreteu, tampouco restou neles espírito, por causa dos filhos de Israel.
2 At that time Yahweh said to Joshua, “Make for yourself knives of flint, and circumcise the ⌞Israelites⌟ a second time.”
2 Naqueles dias o SENHOR disse a Josué: Faz para ti facas afiadas e circuncida novamente os filhos de Israel pela segunda vez.
3 So Joshua made knives of flint, and he circumcised the ⌞Israelites⌟ at the hill of the foreskins.
3 E Josué fez para si facas afiadas, e circuncidou os filhos de Israel no outeiro dos prepúcios.
4 This is the reason why Joshua circumcised all the people: all the males who went out from Egypt, all the warriors, died in the wilderness as they went out from Egypt ⌞on the journey⌟.
4 E esta é a causa pela qual Josué circuncidou: todo o povo que veio do Egito, os que eram machos, todos os homens de guerra, morreram no deserto pelo caminho, depois de saírem do Egito.
5 For all the people who left were circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness ⌞on the journey⌟ after they left from Egypt were not circumcised.
5 Assim, todo o povo que saiu era circuncidado, mas todo o povo que nasceu no deserto, pelo caminho, enquanto eles saíam do Egito, eles não haviam circuncidado.
6 For forty years the ⌞Israelites⌟ traveled in the wilderness until all the nation, the warriors that left Egypt, perished, because they did not listen to the voice of Yahweh. To them Yahweh swore that they would not see the land that he swore to their ancestors to give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
6 Porque os filhos de Israel caminharam quarenta anos no deserto, até que todas as pessoas, que eram homens de guerra, que saíram do Egito, foram consumidas, porque elas não obedeceram a voz do SENHOR, aos quais o SENHOR jurou que não lhes mostraria a terra, a que o SENHOR jurou aos seus pais que nos daria: uma terra da qual flui leite e mel.
7 And it was their children whom he raised in their place that Joshua circumcised, for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised ⌞on the journey⌟.
7 E os seus filhos, os quais ele levantou em seu lugar, a estes Josué circuncidou, pois eram incircuncisos, porque não os haviam circuncidado ao longo do caminho.
8 And it happened, when all the nation had finished circumcising, they remained where they were in the camp until they recovered.
8 E sucedeu que, quando eles terminaram de circuncidar todo o povo, eles permaneceram nos seus lugares no acampamento, até ficarem curados.
9 And Yahweh said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from you.” Therefore, the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.
9 E o SENHOR disse a Josué: Neste dia eu revolvi de sobre vós a reprovação do Egito. Portanto, o nome do lugar é chamado Gilgal até este dia.
10 And the ⌞Israelites⌟ camped at Gilgal, and they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, on the plains of Jericho.
10 E os filhos de Israel acamparam em Gilgal, e celebraram a páscoa no décimo quarto dia do mês, ao entardecer, nas planícies de Jericó.
11 On the next day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate from the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and roasted corn.
11 E eles comeram do velho grão da terra, na manhã seguinte à páscoa, pães ázimos e semente tostada nesse mesmo dia.
12 And the manna ceased the day after, when they started eating the produce of the land, and there was no longer manna for the ⌞Israelites⌟. They ate from the crop of the land of Canaan in that year.
12 E cessou o maná na manhã após eles terem comido do velho grão da terra; os filhos de Israel também não tiveram mais o maná; mas naquele ano eles comeram do fruto da terra de Canaã.
13 And it happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, ⌞he looked up⌟, and he saw a man standing ⌞opposite him⌟ with his sword drawn in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said, “Are you with us, or with our adversaries?”
13 E sucedeu que, quando Josué estava próximo de Jericó, levantou ele os olhos e olhou, e eis que havia lá um homem que se lhe opunha com a sua espada desembainhada em sua mão; e Josué foi até ele e lhe disse: És tu por nós, ou pelos nossos adversários?
14 And he said, “Neither. I have come now as the commander of Yahweh’s army.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and ⌞he bowed down⌟ and said to him, “What is my lord commanding his servant?”
14 E ele disse: Não, mas venho agora como capitão do exército do SENHOR. E Josué caiu com a sua face em terra, e o adorou, e disse-lhe: O que diz o meu senhor ao seu servo?
15 The commander of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
15 E o capitão do exército do SENHOR disse a Josué: Desata o teu calçado do teu pé; pois o lugar sobre o qual tu estás é santo. E Josué assim o fez.
