1 ⌞Oh that my head were waters⌟, and my eyes a fountain of tears, so that I might weep day and night, for the slain of the daughter of my people.
1 Prouvera a Deus a minha cabeça se tornasse em águas, e os meus olhos, em uma fonte de lágrimas! Então, choraria de dia e de noite os mortos da filha do meu povo.
2 ⌞Oh that I had⌟ in the desert a place of overnight lodging for travelers, that I may leave my people and go from them, for all of them are adulterers, a band of traitors.
2 Prouvera a Deus eu tivesse no deserto uma estalagem de caminhantes! Então, deixaria o meu povo e me apartaria dele, porque todos eles são adúlteros, são um bando de aleivosos;
3 And they bend their tongue like their bow, for falsehood and not truth is superior in the land, for they go forth from evil to evil, and they do not know me,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
3 e estendem a língua, como se fosse o seu arco para a mentira; fortalecem-se na terra, mas não para a verdade, porque avançam de malícia em malícia e a mim me não conhecem, diz o Senhor .
4 “Let everyone be on your guard against his neighbor, and you must not trust in any brother, for everyone surely betrays, and every neighbor goes about with slander.
4 Guardai-vos cada um do seu amigo e de irmão nenhum vos fieis; porque todo irmão não faz mais do que enganar, e todo amigo anda caluniando.
5 And everyone deceives his neighbor, and they do not speak the truth, they have taught their tongues to speak lies, they are tired from going astray.
5 E zombará cada um do seu próximo, e não falam a verdade; ensinam a sua língua a falar a mentira; andam-se cansando em obrar perversamente.
6 Your dwelling is in the midst of deceit, upon deceit they refuse to know me,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
6 A tua habitação está no meio do engano; pelo engano recusam conhecer-me, diz o Senhor .
7 Therefore, thus says Yahweh of hosts: “Look, I am about to refine them, and I will test them, for what else can I do, because of the ⌞presence⌟ of the daughter of my people?
7 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eis que eu os fundirei e os provarei; por que, de que outra maneira procederia com a filha do meu povo?
8 Their tongue is a murderous arrow, it speaks deceit. With his mouth he speaks peace with his neighbor, but in his inner parts he sets up his ambush.
8 Uma flecha mortífera é a língua deles; fala engano; com a sua boca fala cada um de paz com o seu companheiro, mas no seu interior arma-lhe ciladas.
9 Because of these things shall I not punish them?” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “On a nation that is like this shall I not take revenge?
9 Porventura, por estas coisas não os visitaria? — diz o Senhor ; ou não se vingaria a minha alma de gente tal como esta?
10 For the mountains I lift up weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the desert a lament, because they are laid waste so that no man passes through. And the sounds of cattle are not heard, from the birds of heaven to the animals they have fled, they are gone.
10 Pelos montes levantarei choro e pranto e pelas pastagens do deserto, lamentação; porque já estão queimadas, e ninguém passa por elas; nem já se ouve mugido de gado; desde as aves dos céus até aos animais, andaram vagueando e fugiram.
11 And I will make Jerusalem as heaps of ruins, a lair of jackals, and the towns of Judah I will make a desolation, ⌞without inhabitants⌟.
11 E farei de Jerusalém montões de pedras, morada de dragões, e das cidades de Judá farei uma assolação, de sorte que fiquem desabitadas.
12 Who is the wise man that can understand this? And to whom has the mouth of Yahweh spoken, so that he may declare it? Why is the land destroyed? It is laid waste like the desert so that no one passes through.”
12 Quem é o homem sábio, que entenda isso? E a quem falou a boca do Senhor , para que o possa anunciar? Por que razão pereceu a terra e se queimou como deserto, de sorte que ninguém passa por ela?
13 And Yahweh said, “Because of their forsaking my law that I set ⌞before⌟ them, and they have not obeyed my voice, and have not walked in it,
13 E disse o Senhor : Porque deixaram a minha lei, que publiquei perante a sua face, e não deram ouvidos à minha voz, nem andaram nela.
14 but they went after the stubbornness of their heart, and after the Baals, which their ancestors taught them.”
14 Antes, andaram após o propósito do seu coração e após os baalins, como lhes ensinaram os seus pais.
15 Therefore thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, “Look, I am feeding this people wormwood, and providing drink for them, water of poison,
15 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, Deus de Israel: Eis que darei de comer alosna a este povo e lhe darei a beber água de fel.
16 and I will scatter them among the nations that they have not known, they and their ancestors, and I will send the sword after them until I bring them to an end.”
16 E os espalharei entre nações que não conheceram, nem eles nem seus pais, e mandarei a espada após eles, até que venha a consumi-los.
17 Thus says Yahweh of hosts: “Consider closely, and call for the wailing women, so that they come, and for the skillful women, so that they come.
17 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Considerai e chamai carpideiras, para que venham; e mandai procurar mulheres sábias, para que venham também.
18 And let them hasten, and let them lift up wailing over us, so that our eyes may melt with tears, and our eyelids may flow with water.
18 E se apressem e levantem o seu lamento sobre nós; e desfaçam-se os nossos olhos em lágrimas, e as nossas pálpebras destilem águas.
19 For a sound of wailing is heard from Zion, ‘How we are devastated! We are very ashamed because we have left the land, because they have overthrown our dwelling places.’
19 Porque uma voz de pranto se ouviu de Sião: Como estamos arruinados! Estamos mui envergonhados, porque deixamos a terra, e eles transtornaram as nossas moradas.
20 For hear, O women, the word of Yahweh, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters a lamentation, and each woman her neighbor a lament.
20 Ouvi, pois, vós, mulheres, a palavra do Senhor , e os vossos ouvidos recebam a palavra da sua boca; e ensinai o pranto a vossas filhas, e cada uma, à sua companheira, a lamentação.
21 For death has come into our windows, it has entered into our fortresses, to cut off the children from the streets, the young men from the public squares.
21 Porque a morte subiu pelas nossas janelas e entrou em nossos palácios, para exterminar das ruas as crianças e os jovens das praças.
22 Speak, ‘thus ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh: “The dead body of the human will fall like dung upon the surface of the field, and like cut grain behind the reaper, and there is no one who gathers.” ’ ”
22 Fala: Assim diz o Senhor : Até os cadáveres dos homens jazerão como esterco sobre a face do campo e como gavela atrás do segador, e não há quem a recolha.
23 Thus says Yahweh, “The wise man must not boast in his wisdom, and the warrior must not boast in his might, the wealthy man must not boast in his wealth.
23 Assim diz o Senhor : Não se glorie o sábio na sua sabedoria, nem se glorie o forte na sua força; não se glorie o rico nas suas riquezas.
24 ⌞But only⌟ in this must the one who boasts boast, that he has insight, and that he knows me, that I am Yahweh, showing loyal love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for in these things I delight,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
24 Mas o que se gloriar glorie-se nisto: em me conhecer e saber que eu sou o Senhor , que faço beneficência, juízo e justiça na terra; porque destas coisas me agrado, diz o Senhor .
25 “Look, days are coming,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “and I will call into account all those who are circumcised in the foreskin:
25 Eis que vêm dias, diz o Senhor , em que visitarei a todo circuncidado com o incircunciso.
26 Egypt, Judah, and Edom, and the ⌞Ammonites⌟, and Moab, and all those who are trimmed to the side, those who live in the desert, for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised of heart.”
26 Ao Egito, e a Judá, e a Edom, e aos filhos de Amom, e a Moabe, e a todos os que cortam os cantos do seu cabelo, que habitam no deserto; porque todas as nações são incircuncisas, e toda a casa de Israel é incircuncisa de coração.
