1 The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
1 A palavra do SENHOR que veio a Jeremias, o profeta, contra os gentios,
2 Concerning Egypt: Concerning the army of Pharaoh Neco, the king of Egypt, which was by the Euphrates River at Carchemish, which Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon defeated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah.
2 contra o Egito, contra o exército de Faraó Neco, rei do Egito, que estava próximo ao rio Eufrates em Carquemis, o qual Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, feriu no quarto ano de Jeoiaquim, o filho de Josias, rei de Judá:
3 “Prepare small shield and shield, and approach for the battle!
3 Preparai o broquel e escudo, e aproximai-vos para batalha.
4 Harness the horses and mount the steeds! And take your stand with helmets! Polish the spears! Put on the body armor!
4 Selai os cavalos e montai, vós cavaleiros, e apresentai-vos com vossos elmos; limpai as lanças, e vesti-vos de couraças.
5 Why do I see them terrified? They are turning back and their warriors are beaten down. And they have fled to a place of refuge and they do not turn back. Terror is from all around,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
5 Por que razão eu vos vejo consternados e voltando para trás? E seus poderosos estão abatidos, e fogem apressadamente, e não olham para trás: pois o medo estava ao redor, diz o SENHOR.
6 The swift cannot flee, and the warrior cannot escape. They have stumbled and they have fallen, by the bank of the Euphrates River.
6 Não fuja o ligeiro, nem escape o poderoso homem. Eles tropeçarão e cairão em direção ao norte, próximo ao rio Eufrates.
7 Who is this that rises like the Nile, like the rivers whose waters surge?
7 Quem é este que surge como uma inundação, cujas águas são agitadas como os rios?
8 Egypt rises like the Nile, even like the rivers whose waters surge. And he says, “Let me rise, let me cover the earth, let me destroy cities, and the inhabitants in them.”
8 O Egito levanta-se como uma inundação, e suas águas são agitadas como os rios, e ele diz: Eu irei subir, e cobrirei a terra, eu destruirei a cidade e os seus habitantes.
9 Go up, O horses, and drive madly, O chariots, and let the warriors go forth; Cush and Put, who wield the small shield, and Lud, who wield and bend the bow.
9 Suba em seus cavalos, e movei-vos furiosamente, vós carruagens, e deixai os poderosos homens surgir, os etíopes e os líbios, que manejam o escudo e os de Lude, que manejam e entesam o arco.
10 For that day is to the Lord Yahweh of hosts a day of retribution, to take revenge on his foes. And the sword will devour and be satisfied, and it will drink its fill of their blood, for a sacrifice is for the Lord Yahweh of hosts in the land of the north by the Euphrates River.
10 Porque este é o dia do Senhor DEUS dos Exércitos, um dia de vingança, para que ele possa vingar-se de seus adversários. E a espada devorará, e ela se saciará e se embriagará com o sangue deles, porque o Senhor DEUS dos Exércitos tem um sacrifício na região do norte, próximo ao rio Eufrates.
11 Go up to Gilead and take balm, O virgin of the daughter of Egypt. ⌞In vain⌟ you make use of many medicines; there is no healing for you.
11 Sobe a Gileade, e toma bálsamo, ó virgem, a filha do Egito. Em vão irás tu usar muitos remédios, pois tu não serás curada.
12 The nations have heard your shame, and your cry of lament fills the earth. For warrior has stumbled against warrior, together they have fallen, the two of them.
12 As nações têm ouvido de tua vergonha, e o teu clamor tem preenchido a terra, pois o homem poderoso tem tropeçado contra o poderoso, e ambos caíram juntos.
13 The word that Yahweh spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon to attack the land of Egypt:
13 Palavra que o SENHOR falou para Jeremias, o profeta, como Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, deveria vir e afligir a terra do Egito:
14 “Declare in Egypt, and proclaim in Migdol, and proclaim in Memphis and in Tahpanhes, say, ‘Take your stand and be prepared, for the sword will devour those all around you.’
14 Declarai vós no Egito, e divulgai em Migdol, e divulgai em Nofe, e em Tafnes, dizei: Fica firme, e prepara-te, porque a espada devorará ao redor de ti.
15 Why are your bulls defeated? He did not stand because Yahweh thrust him down.
15 Por que estão teus homens valentes eliminados? Eles não permanecem, porque o SENHOR os levou.
16 He multiplied the ones stumbling. Furthermore, each one fell to his neighbor, and said, ‘Stand up, and let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, ⌞because of⌟ the ⌞presence⌟ of the sword of the oppressor.’
16 Ele fez muitos caírem, sim, um caiu sobre o outro, e eles disseram: Levanta-te, e voltemos novamente para nosso próprio povo, e para a terra de nosso nascimento, por causa da espada opressora.
17 They will call there, ‘Pharaoh, the king of Egypt is but a roar, ⌞he missed the opportunity⌟.’
17 Eles clamaram ali: Faraó rei do Egito é mais um ruído, ele passou o tempo determinado.
18 ⌞As I live⌟,” ⌞declares⌟ the king, Yahweh of hosts is his name, “one will come like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.
18 Como eu vivo, diz o Rei, cujo nome é o SENHOR dos Exércitos, certamente como Tabor está entre os montes, e como Carmelo fica próximo ao mar, então ele virá.
19 Pack your baggage for exile, O inhabitants of the daughter of Egypt, for Memphis will become as a horror, and it will be destroyed, ⌞without⌟ inhabitant.
19 Ó tu, filha que habitas no Egito, prepara-te para entrar no cativeiro, pois Nofe será devastação, e desolação sem um habitante.
20 Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a gadfly from the north will come against her.
20 O Egito é semelhante a uma novilha mui bela, porém destruição chega; esta chega do norte.
21 Even her mercenaries in her midst are like calves of fattening, for they also have turned away, they have fled together. They stand not, for the day of their calamity has come, the time of their punishment.
21 Também os seus mercenários estão em seu meio como novilhos cevados, porque eles também retornaram e fugiram juntos. Eles não permaneceram porque o dia da calamidade lhes sobreveio, e o tempo da sua visitação.
22 Her sound is like a snake that glides away, for they march in force. And with axes they come to her like those who chop trees.
22 A sua voz irá como uma serpente, pois eles marcharão com um exército, e virão contra ela com machados, como cortadores de lenha.
23 They will cut down her forest,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “for ⌞it is impenetrable⌟. Yes, they are more numerous than locusts, and ⌞they are without number⌟.
23 Eles cortarão a sua floresta, diz o SENHOR, embora fosse impenetrável, porque eles são mais do que gafanhotos, e são inumeráveis.
24 The daughter of Egypt will be ashamed, she will be given into the hand of the people of the north.”
24 A filha do Egito estará perplexa; ela será entregue na mão do povo do norte.
25 Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, said, “Look, I am going to punish Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, and her gods, and her kings, even Pharaoh and those who trust in him.
25 O SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, diz: Eis que eu punirei a multidão de Nofe, e Faraó, e ao Egito, com seus deuses, e seus reis, até o Faraó, e todos aqueles que confiam nele.
26 And I will give them into the hand of the seekers of their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and into the hand of his troops. But ⌞afterward⌟ it will be inhabited, as in days of old,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
26 E, eu os entregarei na mão daqueles que buscam suas vidas, e na mão de Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, e na mão de seus servos, e depois esta será habitada, como nos dias antigos, diz o SENHOR.
27 “But as for you, my servant Jacob, you must not be afraid, and Israel, you must not be dismayed, for look, I am going to save you from far, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob will return, and he will be quiet, and he will be at ease, and without one who makes him afraid.
27 Porém, não temas tu, ó meu servo Jacó, e não estejas consternado, ó Israel, pois eis que eu te salvarei mesmo longe, e a tua semente da terra do cativeiro, e Jacó retornará, e estará em repouso e alívio, e ninguém o intimidará.
28 You must not be afraid, my servant Jacob,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “for I am with you. For I will make a complete destruction in all the nations where I scattered you, but you I will not make a complete destruction, though I will chastise you to the measure, and I will certainly not leave you unpunished.”
28 Não temas tu, ó Jacó meu servo, diz o SENHOR, porque eu estou contigo, pois eu darei um fim a todas as nações para onde te lancei. Porém, eu não destruirei, mas te corrigirei na medida. Por fim, não te deixarei inteiramente impune.
