1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and laid siege to it.
1 No nono ano de Zedequias, rei de Judá, no décimo mês, veio Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia e todo o seu exército contra Jerusalém, e a sitiaram.
2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was taken by assault.
2 E no décimo primeiro ano de Zedequias, no quarto mês, o nono dia do mês, a cidade foi desmantelada.
3 And all the officials of the king of Babylon came and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim the chief officer, Nergal-sharezer the high official, with all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.
3 E todos os príncipes do rei de Babilônia entraram, e assentaram-se na porta do meio: Nergal-Sarezer, Sangar-Nebo, Sarsequim, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague, e todo o restante dos príncipes do rei de Babilônia.
4 ⌞And then⌟ ⌞when⌟ Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all ⌞the soldiers⌟ with him, they fled and went out at night from the city by the way of the garden of the king through the gate between the walls. And they went out toward the Jordan Valley.
4 E aconteceu que, quando Zedequias, o rei de Judá os viu, e todos os homens de guerra, então eles fugiram, e saíram da cidade à noite, pelo caminho do jardim do rei, pelo portão entre os dois muros. E ele partiu pelo caminho da planície.
5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And they took him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath. And he pronounced ⌞sentence⌟ on him.
5 Porém, o exército dos caldeus os perseguiu e alcançaram Zedequias nas planícies de Jericó. E quando eles o tinham capturado, eles o trouxeram até Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, até Ribla na terra de Hamate, onde o sentenciou.
6 And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes. The king of Babylon also slaughtered all the nobles of Judah.
6 Então o rei de Babilônia matou os filhos de Zedequias em Ribla perante os seus olhos. Também o rei de Babilônia matou todos os nobres de Judá.
7 Then he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah and tied him up with bronze fetters to bring him to Babylon.
7 E também arrancou os olhos de Zedequias, e o amarrou com correntes, para o transportar para a Babilônia.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the palace of the king and the houses of the people with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
8 E os caldeus queimaram a casa do rei e as casas do povo a fogo, e demoliram os muros de Jerusalém.
9 Then the rest of the people who were left in the city, and those deserting who had deserted to him, and the rest of the people who remained, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, deported to Babylon.
9 Então, Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, levou cativo para a Babilônia o remanescente do povo que ficou na cidade, e os desertores que passaram para ele, com o restante do povo que permaneceu.
10 And some of the poor people, ⌞who had nothing⌟, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, left in the land of Judah. And he gave them vineyards and fields on that day.
10 Porém, Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, deixou os pobres do povo, que nada tinham na terra de Judá, e deu-lhes vinhas e campos ao mesmo tempo.
11 And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon commanded concerning Jeremiah ⌞through⌟ Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, ⌞saying⌟,
11 Ora, Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, deu ordem a respeito de Jeremias a Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, dizendo:
12 “Take him and set your eyes on him. And you must not do something bad to him, ⌞but only⌟ that which he speaks to you, so do with him.”
12 Toma-o, e busque bem-estar para ele e não lhe faças mal, porém faz para com ele exatamente como ele te dirá.
13 So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, sent word, ⌞along with⌟ Nebushazban the chief officer, and Nergal-sharezer the high official, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon.
13 Então enviou Nebuzaradã, o capitão da guarda, e Nebusazbã, Rabe-Saris, e Nergal-Sarezer, o Rabe-Mague, e todos os príncipes do rei de Babilônia.
14 And they sent and took Jeremiah from the courtyard of the guard and gave him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him to the house, so he stayed in the midst of the people.
14 Eles enviaram, e retiraram Jeremias do átrio da prisão, e incumbiram a Gedalias, o filho de Aicão, o filho de Safã, para que ele o levasse para casa. Então ele habitou entre o povo.
15 And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah at his confinement in the courtyard of the guard, ⌞saying⌟,
15 Ora, a palavra do SENHOR veio até Jeremias, enquanto ele estava trancado no átrio da prisão, dizendo:
16 “Go and say to Ebed-melech the Cushite, ⌞saying⌟, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: “Look, I am about to bring my words to pass against this city for evil and not for good. And they will be ⌞before you⌟ on that day.
16 Vai e fala a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, dizendo: Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que eu trarei minhas palavras sobre esta cidade para o mal, e não para o bem, e elas se cumprirão naquele dia diante de ti.
17 But I will rescue you on that day,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “and you will not be given into the hand of the men ⌞of whom you are frightened⌟.
17 Porém, eu livrarei a ti naquele dia, diz o SENHOR, e tu não serás dado na mão dos homens aos quais temes.
18 For surely I will save you, and you will not fall by the sword. But your life will be for you as booty because you have trusted in me,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.’ ”
18 Porque eu certamente te livrarei, e tu não cairás pela espada, porém a tua vida será por um despojo para ti, porque tu tens colocado tua confiança em mim, diz o SENHOR.
