1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and laid siege to it.
1 Foi tomada Jerusalém. Era o ano nono de Zedequias, rei de Judá, no mês décimo, quando veio Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e todo o seu exército, contra Jerusalém, e a cercaram;
2 In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was taken by assault.
2 era o undécimo ano de Zedequias, no quarto mês, aos nove do mês, quando se fez uma brecha na cidade.
3 And all the officials of the king of Babylon came and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim the chief officer, Nergal-sharezer the high official, with all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.
3 Então, entraram todos os príncipes do rei da Babilônia e se assentaram na Porta do Meio: Nergal-Sarezer, Sangar-Nebo, Sarsequim, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague e todos os outros príncipes do rei da Babilônia.
4 ⌞And then⌟ ⌞when⌟ Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all ⌞the soldiers⌟ with him, they fled and went out at night from the city by the way of the garden of the king through the gate between the walls. And they went out toward the Jordan Valley.
4 Tendo-os visto Zedequias, rei de Judá, e todos os homens de guerra, fugiram e, de noite, saíram da cidade, pelo caminho do jardim do rei, pela porta que está entre os dois muros; Zedequias saiu pelo caminho da campina.
5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And they took him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath. And he pronounced ⌞sentence⌟ on him.
5 Mas o exército dos caldeus os perseguiu e alcançou a Zedequias nas campinas de Jericó; eles o prenderam e o fizeram subir a Ribla, na terra de Hamate, a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, que lhe pronunciou a sentença.
6 And the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes. The king of Babylon also slaughtered all the nobles of Judah.
6 O rei da Babilônia mandou matar, em Ribla, os filhos de Zedequias à vista deste; também matou a todos os príncipes de Judá.
7 Then he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah and tied him up with bronze fetters to bring him to Babylon.
7 Vazou os olhos a Zedequias e o atou com duas cadeias de bronze, para o levar à Babilônia.
8 And the Chaldeans burned the palace of the king and the houses of the people with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
8 Os caldeus queimaram a casa do rei e as casas do povo e derribaram os muros de Jerusalém.
9 Then the rest of the people who were left in the city, and those deserting who had deserted to him, and the rest of the people who remained, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, deported to Babylon.
9 O mais do povo que havia ficado na cidade, os desertores que se entregaram a ele e o sobrevivente do povo, Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, levou-os cativos para a Babilônia.
10 And some of the poor people, ⌞who had nothing⌟, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, left in the land of Judah. And he gave them vineyards and fields on that day.
10 Porém dos mais pobres da terra, que nada tinham, deixou Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, na terra de Judá; e lhes deu vinhas e campos naquele dia.
11 And Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon commanded concerning Jeremiah ⌞through⌟ Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, ⌞saying⌟,
11 Mas Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, havia ordenado acerca de Jeremias, a Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, dizendo:
12 “Take him and set your eyes on him. And you must not do something bad to him, ⌞but only⌟ that which he speaks to you, so do with him.”
12 Toma-o, cuida dele e não lhe faças nenhum mal; mas faze-lhe como ele te disser.
13 So Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, sent word, ⌞along with⌟ Nebushazban the chief officer, and Nergal-sharezer the high official, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon.
13 Deste modo, Nebuzaradã, o chefe da guarda, ordenou a Nebusazbã, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague, e todos os príncipes do rei da Babilônia
14 And they sent and took Jeremiah from the courtyard of the guard and gave him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to take him to the house, so he stayed in the midst of the people.
14 mandaram retirar Jeremias do átrio da guarda e o entregaram a Gedalias, filho de Aicão, filho de Safã, para que o levasse para o seu palácio; assim, habitou entre o povo.
15 And the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah at his confinement in the courtyard of the guard, ⌞saying⌟,
15 Ora, tinha vindo a Jeremias a palavra do Senhor , estando ele ainda detido no átrio da guarda, dizendo:
16 “Go and say to Ebed-melech the Cushite, ⌞saying⌟, ‘Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: “Look, I am about to bring my words to pass against this city for evil and not for good. And they will be ⌞before you⌟ on that day.
16 Vai e fala a Ebede-Meleque, o etíope, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Eis que eu trarei as minhas palavras sobre esta cidade para mal e não para bem; e se cumprirão diante de ti naquele dia.
17 But I will rescue you on that day,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “and you will not be given into the hand of the men ⌞of whom you are frightened⌟.
17 A ti, porém, eu livrarei naquele dia, diz o Senhor , e não serás entregue nas mãos dos homens a quem temes.
18 For surely I will save you, and you will not fall by the sword. But your life will be for you as booty because you have trusted in me,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.’ ”
18 Pois certamente te salvarei, e não cairás à espada, porque a tua vida te será como despojo, porquanto confiaste em mim.
