1 Let me sing for my beloved a song of my love concerning his vineyard: ⌞My beloved had a vineyard⌟ on ⌞a fertile hill⌟.
1 Vou cantar agora para o meu amigo uma canção a respeito da sua plantação de uvas. O meu amigo fez essa plantação num lugar onde a terra era boa.
2 And he dug it and cleared it of stones, and he planted it with choice vines, and he built a watchtower in the middle of it, and he even hewed out a wine vat in it, and he waited for it to yield grapes— but it yielded wild grapes.
2 Ele cavou o chão, tirou as pedras e plantou as melhores mudas de uva. No centro do terreno, ele construiu uma torre para o vigia e fez também um tanque para esmagar as uvas. Esperava que as mas deram somente uvas azedas.
3 And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.
3 Agora o meu amigo diz: “Moradores de Jerusalém e povo de Judá, digam se a culpa é minha ou da minha plantação de uvas.
4 What more was there to do for my vineyard that I have not done in it? Why did I hope for it to yield grapes, and it yielded wild grapes?
4 Fiz por ela tudo o que podia; então, por que produziu uvas azedas em vez das uvas doces que eu esperava?
5 And now let me tell you what I myself am about to do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall become a devastation. I will break down its wall, and it shall become a trampling.
5 “Agora eu lhes digo o que vou fazer com a minha plantação de uvas: vou tirar a cerca e derrubar os muros que a protegem e vou deixar que os animais invadam a plantação e acabem com as parreiras.
6 And I will make it a wasteland; it shall not be pruned and hoed, and it shall be overgrown with briers and thornbushes. And concerning the clouds, I will command ⌞them not to send⌟ rain down upon it.
6 A plantação ficará abandonada; as parreiras não serão podadas, e a terra não será cultivada; o mato e os espinheiros tomarão conta dela. Também darei ordem às nuvens para que não deixem cair chuva na minha plantação.”
7 For the vineyard of Yahweh of hosts is the house of Israel, and the man of Judah is the plantation of his delight. And he waited for justice, but look! Bloodshed! For righteousness, but look! A cry of distress!
7 A plantação de uvas do Senhor Todo-Poderoso, as parreiras de que ele tanto gosta são o povo de Israel e o povo de Judá. Deus esperava que eles obedecessem à sua mas ele os viu cometendo crimes de morte; esperava que fizessem o que é direito, mas só ouviu as suas vítimas gritando por socorro.
8 Ah! Those who ⌞join⌟ house with house, they join field together with field until ⌞there is no place⌟ and you are caused to dwell alone in the midst of the land.
8 Ai de vocês que compram casas e mais casas, que se tornam donos de mais e mais terrenos! Daqui a pouco não haverá mais lugar para os outros morarem, e vocês serão os únicos moradores do país.
9 Yahweh of hosts said in my ears: ⌞Surely⌟ many houses shall become a desolation, large and beautiful ones without inhabitant.
9 Ouvi o Senhor Todo-Poderoso dizer isto: “As grandes e belas mansões serão destruídas, e ninguém ficará morando nelas.
10 For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of a homer will yield an ephah.
10 Um alqueire de parreiras dará somente uns vinte litros de vinho, e cem quilos de sementes produzirão somente dez quilos de trigo.”
11 Ah! Those who rise early in the morning, they pursue strong drink. Those who linger in the evening, wine inflames them.
11 Ai dos que passam o dia inteiro bebendo cerveja e vinho, desde a madrugada até tarde da noite, e ficam completamente bêbados!
12 And there will be lyre and harp, tambourine and flute, and wine at their feasts, but they do not look at the deeds of Yahweh, and they do not see the work of his hands.
12 Nas suas festas há música de harpas e de liras , de pandeiros e de flautas e muito vinho para beber. Eles não se importam com os planos de Deus, o nem levam em conta o que ele está fazendo.
13 Therefore my people will go into exile without knowledge, and their nobles will be men of hunger, and their multitude is parched with thirst.
13 Portanto, por causa da sua desobediência, o meu povo será levado prisioneiro para fora do país. O povo e as autoridades morrerão de fome e de sede.
14 Therefore Sheol has enlarged its throat, and it has opened wide its mouth without limit, and her nobles will go down, and her multitude, her tumult and those who revel in her.
14 O mundo dos mortos , como se fosse uma fera faminta, abrirá a sua boca enorme e engolirá o povo e as autoridades, toda essa gente que vive nas farras e nas orgias.
15 And humankind is bowed down, and man is brought low, and the eyes of the haughty are humiliated.
15 Todos ficarão envergonhados, e os orgulhosos serão humilhados.
16 But Yahweh of hosts is exalted by justice, and the holy God shows himself holy by righteousness.
16 Mas o Senhor Todo-Poderoso fará o que é direito e assim mostrará a sua grandeza; Deus fará o que é certo, e assim todos ficarão sabendo que ele é santo.
17 And then the lambs will graze as in their pasture, and ⌞fatlings, kids will eat among the sites of ruins.⌟
17 As cidades virarão montões de ruínas, e ali as ovelhas e os cabritinhos encontrarão pasto.
18 Ah! Those who drag iniquity along with the cords of falsehood and sin as with rope of the cart,
18 Ai dos que se amarram aos seus pecados com mentiras! Eles andam arrastando a sua maldade como quem puxa um carro
19 those who say, “Let him make haste; let him hurry his work so that we may see it and let it draw near and let the plan of the holy one of Israel come so that we may know it!”
19 e dizem: “Que Deus se apresse e faça logo o que vai fazer para que nós fiquemos sabendo o que é! Que o Santo Deus de Israel realize depressa os seus planos para que nós possamos conhecê-los!”
20 Ah! Those who call evil good and good evil, those who put darkness for light and light for darkness, those who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
20 Ai dos que chamam de mau aquilo que é bom e que chamam de bom aquilo que é mau; que fazem a luz virar escuridão e a escuridão virar luz; que fazem o amargo ficar doce e o que é doce ficar amargo!
21 Ah! Those who are wise in their own eyes and have understanding ⌞in their view⌟!
21 Ai dos que acham que são sábios, dos que pensam que sabem tudo!
22 Ah! Heroes at drinking wine, and men of capability at mixing strong drink!
22 Ai dos que são campeões de beber vinho, que vencem apostas de misturar bebidas alcoólicas;
23 Those who acquit the guilty because of a bribe and remove the justice of the innocent from him.
23 que aceitam dinheiro para torcer a justiça, deixando livres os culpados e condenando os inocentes!
24 Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will become like the stench, and their blossom will go up like the dust. For they have rejected the instruction of Yahweh of hosts, and they have treated the word of the holy one of Israel with contempt.
24 Portanto, assim como o fogo queima a palha, e as chamas acabam com a grama seca, assim também vocês desaparecerão. Serão como plantas cujas raízes ficam podres e cujas flores são levadas pelo vento como se fossem pó. Pois vocês desobedeceram às e desprezaram os mandamentos do Santo Deus de Israel.
25 Therefore ⌞Yahweh’s wrath was kindled⌟ against his people, and he stretched out his hand against them and struck them, and the mountains quaked, and their corpses were like refuse in the middle of the streets. In all of this his anger has not turned back, and still his hand is stretched out.
25 Por isso, o Senhor ficou irado com o seu povo; ele levantou a mão e os castigou. As montanhas tremeram, e os corpos dos mortos ficaram largados nas ruas como lixo. Mesmo assim, a ira de Deus não passou; a sua mão continua levantada para castigar.
26 And he will raise a signal for a nation from afar, and he will whistle for it from the end of the earth. And look! It comes quickly, swiftly!
26 O Senhor levanta uma bandeira para chamar uma nação que fica lá no fim do mundo; com um assobio, ele chama o povo daquele país distante, e eles vêm correndo com muita rapidez.
27 None is weary, and none among him stumbles; none slumbers and none sleeps. And no loincloth on his waist is opened, and no thong of his sandals is drawn away.
27 Nenhum dos seus soldados se cansa ou tropeça, nenhum descansa ou dorme. Eles estão preparados para lutar: os cinturões estão bem apertados, e as tiras das sandálias não se arrebentam.
28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all of his bows are bent. The hoofs of his horses are reckoned like flint, and his wheels like the storm wind.
28 As suas flechas são pontudas, e os seus arcos estão prontos para atirar. Os cascos dos seus cavalos são duros como pedra, e as rodas dos seus carros de guerra parecem redemoinhos.
29 His roaring is like the lion, and he roars like young lions. And he growls and seizes his prey, and he carries it off, and not one can rescue it.
29 Esses soldados rugem como leões, como leões ferozes que matam um animal e, rosnando, o arrastam para um lugar onde ninguém o pode arrancar deles.
30 And he will roar over him on that day like the roaring of the sea, and if one looks to the land, look! Darkness! Distress! And the light grows dark with its clouds.
30 Quando chegar aquele dia, esse povo rugirá como o mar contra o povo de Israel. Se alguém olhar para a terra, verá somente escuridão e tristeza e nuvens negras escondendo a luz.
