1 And he called in my ears with a loud voice, ⌞saying⌟, “They have come near, the punishers of the city, and each with his weapon of destruction in his hand.
1 Aí ouvi o Senhor dizer em voz bem alta: — Venham cá vocês, os que vão castigar a cidade. Tragam as suas armas de destruição.
2 And look! Six men coming from the way of ⌞the upper gate⌟ that faced ⌞northward⌟, and each with his weapon for shattering in his hand; and one man was in the midst of them, dressed in linen, and the writing case of the scribe was at his side. And they came and stood beside the bronze altar.
2 Naquele momento, seis homens vieram do Templo, do portão externo que fica ao norte, e cada um carregava uma arma mortal. Com eles estava um homem vestido com uma roupa de linho, que carregava material de escrever. Todos eles vieram e ficaram ao lado do altar de bronze.
3 And the glory of the God of Israel lifted itself up from upon the cherub that he was on and went to the threshold of the house, and he called to the man who was clothed in linen ⌞with a scribal writing case at his side⌟.
3 Então a glória do Deus de Israel, que estava em cima dos animais com asas , subiu dali e foi para a entrada do Templo. E o Senhor gritou para o homem vestido com a roupa de linho:
4 And Yahweh said to him, “Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and you must place a mark on the foreheads of the men ⌞who are groaning and lamenting⌟ about all of the detestable things ⌞that are being done⌟ in the midst of her.”
4 — Vá por toda a cidade de Jerusalém e faça um sinal na testa de todas as pessoas que sofrem e se aborrecem por causa de todas as coisas vergonhosas que estão sendo feitas na cidade.
5 And to the others he said in my hearing, “Go through the city behind him and kill! Your eyes shall not take pity, and you shall not have compassion.
5 E ouvi o Senhor dizer aos outros homens: — Vão atrás dele pela cidade e matem todos. Não deixem escapar ninguém; não tenham dó de ninguém.
6 You must kill ⌞totally⌟ old man, young man and young woman, and little children and women, but ⌞concerning⌟ every man ⌞with the mark on him⌟ you must not approach; and from my sanctuary you must begin.” And they began with the old men who ⌞were before⌟ the house.
6 Matem os velhos, os moços, as moças, as mães e as crianças. Mas não toquem em quem tiver o sinal na testa. Comecem aqui no meu Templo. Aí eles começaram a matar os líderes que estavam ali na frente do Templo.
7 And he said to them, “Defile the house and fill the courtyards with the dead; go out! And they went out, and they killed in the city.
7 O Senhor lhes disse ainda: — Então eles começaram a matar as pessoas da cidade.
8 ⌞And then⌟ ⌞as they were striking⌟, and I was left behind, I fell on my face, and I cried out, and I said, “Ah, Lord Yahweh! “Will you be destroying all of the remnant of Israel ⌞while you pour out your rage⌟ on Jerusalem?”
8 Enquanto a matança continuava, fiquei ali sozinho. Eu me atirei no chão, com o rosto encostado na terra, e gritei: —
9 And he said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is ⌞exceedingly⌟ great, and the land is filled with bloodguilt, and the city is full of injustice. For they say Yahweh abandoned the land, and ⌞Yahweh does not see⌟.
9 O Senhor respondeu: — O povo de Israel e de Judá é culpado de pecados terríveis. Eles têm matado pessoas no país inteiro e têm enchido Jerusalém de crimes. Eles dizem: “O
10 And I, my eye will not take pity, and I will not have compassion; their way I will bring on their head.”
10 Por isso, agora não deixarei escapar ninguém e não terei dó de ninguém. Farei com eles o que fizeram com os outros.
11 And look! The man clothed in linen and ⌞with a writing case at his side⌟ was bringing back a word, ⌞saying⌟, “I have done all that you commanded me.”
11 Então o homem que vestia a roupa de linho e carregava material de escrever voltou e contou tudo ao Senhor . E disse: — Fiz tudo como mandaste.
