1 In the seventh month on the twenty-first day, the word of Yahweh ⌞came through⌟ Haggai the prophet, saying,
1 No sétimo mês, ao vigésimo primeiro dia do mês, veio a palavra do SENHOR por meio do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
2 “Speak now to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
2 Fala agora a Zorobabel, filho de Sealtiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Jozadaque, sumo sacerdote, e ao restante do povo, dizendo:
3 ‘Who among you is left that saw this house in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it seem like nothing ⌞to you⌟?
3 Quem dentre os que permaneceram, viu esta casa na sua primeira glória? E como a vedes agora? Isto não é como nada aos vossos olhos?
4 ‘But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh. ‘Take courage, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and take courage, all the people of the land,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh. ‘Do the work, because I am with you,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts,
4 Mas agora sê forte, ó Zorobabel, diz o SENHOR; sê forte, ó Josué, filho de Jozadaque, sumo sacerdote; sê forte todo o povo da terra, diz o SENHOR, e trabalhai; pois eu sou convosco, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
5 ‘according to ⌞the promise⌟ that ⌞I covenanted⌟ with you when you came out of Egypt. My spirit ⌞is with you⌟; do not be afraid.’
5 Conforme a palavra do pacto que fiz convosco, quando saístes do Egito, o meu Espírito permanece no meio de vós; não temais.
6 For thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and dry land.
6 Pois assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Ainda uma vez, dentro de pouco tempo, eu farei tremer os céus e a terra, e o mar, e a terra seca;
7 I will shake all the nations so that the treasure of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says Yahweh of hosts.
7 E farei tremer todas as nações, e o Desejado de todas as nações virá; e eu encherei esta casa de glória, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.
8 A prata é minha, e o ouro é meu, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
9 ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.’ ”
9 A glória desta última casa será maior do que a da primeira, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos; e neste lugar darei a paz, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came to the prophet Haggai, saying,
10 Ao vigésimo quarto dia do nono mês, no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra do SENHOR por meio do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
11 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Ask now the priests for a ruling:
11 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Pergunta agora aos sacerdotes a respeito da lei, dizendo:
12 If a man carries consecrated meat in the hem of his garment, and his hem touches bread, or stew, or wine, or olive oil, or any kind of food, will it become holy?’ ” The priests answered, “No.”
12 Se alguém leva carne santa na borda de suas vestes, e com sua borda tocar no pão, ou na sopa, ou no vinho, azeite, ou em qualquer alimento, porventura ficará isto santificado? E os sacerdotes responderam e disseram: Não.
13 Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean from contact with a corpse touches any of these, will it become unclean?” The priests answered, “Yes, it will be become unclean.”
13 Então disse Ageu: Se alguém que estiver impuro por causa do contato com um corpo morto, tocar em qualquer destas coisas, ficará ela imunda? E os sacerdotes responderam e disseram: Ela ficará imunda.
14 And Haggai answered and said, “ ‘So it is with this people, and with this nation before me,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, ‘and so it is with every kind of work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
14 Então respondeu Ageu, e disse: Assim é este povo, e assim é esta nação diante de mim, diz o SENHOR; e assim é toda a obra das suas mãos; e tudo o que ali oferecem é imundo.
15 But now, please ⌞consider⌟ from this day forward, before one stone was placed on another in the temple of Yahweh,
15 E agora, eu vos rogo, considerai isto desde este dia em diante, antes de se colocar pedra sobre pedra no templo do SENHOR.
16 ⌞from that time when⌟ one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten, and when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures, there were only twenty.
16 Antes destes dias, vinha alguém a um montão de vinte medidas, e havia somente dez; quando alguém chegou ao lagar para tirar cinquenta vasilhas, havia somente vinte.
17 I struck you with blight, and with plant mildew, and hail, all the work of your hands. But ⌞you did not come back to me⌟,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
17 Eu vos feri com queimadura, com ferrugem e com granizo, em toda obra das vossas mãos; e ainda assim não voltaram para mim, diz o SENHOR.
18 ‘⌞Please consider⌟ from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, ⌞consider⌟:
18 Considerai, agora, desde este dia em diante, desde o vigésimo quarto dia do nono mês, desde o dia em que a fundação do templo do SENHOR foi estabelecida, considerai isto.
19 Is there still seed in the store chamber? Do the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree still produce nothing? From this day forward I will bless you.’ ”
19 Por acaso há ainda semente no celeiro? Sim, além disso a videira, a figueira, a romãzeira, a oliveira, não têm produzido, desde este dia eu vos abençoarei.
20 And the word of Yahweh came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month saying,
20 E mais uma vez a palavra do SENHOR veio a Ageu, aos vinte e quatro dias do mês, dizendo:
21 “Say to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I am going to shake the heavens and the earth,
21 Fala a Zorobabel, governador de Judá, dizendo: Eu farei tremer os céus e a terra;
22 and I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the military strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow chariots and their drivers; horses and their riders will fall, every one by the sword of another!
22 E derrubarei o trono dos reinos, e destruirei a força dos reinos dos pagãos; eu derrubarei as carruagens e os que neles andam; e os cavalos e os seus cavaleiros cairão, cada uma pela espada do seu irmão.
23 ‘On that day,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, my servant,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, ‘and I will make you a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.”
23 Naquele dia, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, eu te tomarei, ó Zorobabel, meu servo, filho de Sealtiel, diz o SENHOR, e te farei como um sinete, porque te escolhi, diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
