1 In the seventh month on the twenty-first day, the word of Yahweh ⌞came through⌟ Haggai the prophet, saying,
1 No segundo ano do rei Dario, no sétimo mês, ao vigésimo primeiro do mês, veio a palavra do Senhor por intermédio do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
2 “Speak now to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
2 Fala, agora, a Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, governador de Judá, e a Josué, filho de Jozadaque, o sumo sacerdote, e ao resto do povo, dizendo:
3 ‘Who among you is left that saw this house in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it seem like nothing ⌞to you⌟?
3 Quem dentre vós, que tenha sobrevivido, contemplou esta casa na sua primeira glória? E como a vedes agora? Não é ela como nada aos vossos olhos?
4 ‘But now take courage, Zerubbabel,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh. ‘Take courage, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and take courage, all the people of the land,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh. ‘Do the work, because I am with you,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts,
4 Ora, pois, sê forte, Zorobabel, diz o Senhor , e sê forte, Josué, filho de Jozadaque, o sumo sacerdote, e tu, todo o povo da terra, sê forte, diz o Senhor , e trabalhai, porque eu sou convosco, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos;
5 ‘according to ⌞the promise⌟ that ⌞I covenanted⌟ with you when you came out of Egypt. My spirit ⌞is with you⌟; do not be afraid.’
5 segundo a palavra da aliança que fiz convosco, quando saístes do Egito, o meu Espírito habita no meio de vós; não temais.
6 For thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and dry land.
6 Pois assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Ainda uma vez, dentro em pouco, farei abalar o céu, a terra, o mar e a terra seca;
7 I will shake all the nations so that the treasure of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says Yahweh of hosts.
7 farei abalar todas as nações, e as coisas preciosas de todas as nações virão, e encherei de glória esta casa, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.
8 Minha é a prata, meu é o ouro, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
9 ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.’ ”
9 A glória desta última casa será maior do que a da primeira, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos; e, neste lugar, darei a paz, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of Yahweh came to the prophet Haggai, saying,
10 Ao vigésimo quarto dia do mês nono, no segundo ano de Dario, veio a palavra do Senhor por intermédio do profeta Ageu, dizendo:
11 “Thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Ask now the priests for a ruling:
11 Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Pergunta, agora, aos sacerdotes a respeito da lei:
12 If a man carries consecrated meat in the hem of his garment, and his hem touches bread, or stew, or wine, or olive oil, or any kind of food, will it become holy?’ ” The priests answered, “No.”
12 Se alguém leva carne santa na orla de sua veste, e ela vier a tocar no pão, ou no cozinhado, ou no vinho, ou no azeite, ou em qualquer outro mantimento, ficará isto santificado? Responderam os sacerdotes: Não.
13 Then Haggai said, “If one who is unclean from contact with a corpse touches any of these, will it become unclean?” The priests answered, “Yes, it will be become unclean.”
13 Então, perguntou Ageu: Se alguém que se tinha tornado impuro pelo contato com um corpo morto tocar nalguma destas coisas, ficará ela imunda? Responderam os sacerdotes: Ficará imunda.
14 And Haggai answered and said, “ ‘So it is with this people, and with this nation before me,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, ‘and so it is with every kind of work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.
14 Então, prosseguiu Ageu: Assim é este povo, e assim esta nação perante mim, diz o Senhor ; assim é toda a obra das suas mãos, e o que ali oferecem: tudo é imundo.
15 But now, please ⌞consider⌟ from this day forward, before one stone was placed on another in the temple of Yahweh,
15 Agora, pois, considerai tudo o que está acontecendo desde aquele dia. Antes de pordes pedra sobre pedra no templo do Senhor ,
16 ⌞from that time when⌟ one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten, and when one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures, there were only twenty.
16 antes daquele tempo, alguém vinha a um monte de vinte medidas, e havia somente dez; vinha ao lagar para tirar cinquenta, e havia somente vinte.
17 I struck you with blight, and with plant mildew, and hail, all the work of your hands. But ⌞you did not come back to me⌟,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
17 Eu vos feri com queimaduras, e com ferrugem, e com saraiva, em toda a obra das vossas mãos; e não houve, entre vós, quem voltasse para mim, diz o Senhor .
18 ‘⌞Please consider⌟ from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, ⌞consider⌟:
18 Considerai, eu vos rogo, desde este dia em diante, desde o vigésimo quarto dia do mês nono, desde o dia em que se fundou o templo do Senhor , considerai nestas coisas.
19 Is there still seed in the store chamber? Do the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree still produce nothing? From this day forward I will bless you.’ ”
19 Já não há semente no celeiro. Além disso, a videira, a figueira, a romeira e a oliveira não têm dado os seus frutos; mas, desde este dia, vos abençoarei.
20 And the word of Yahweh came to Haggai a second time on the twenty-fourth day of the month saying,
20 Veio a palavra do Senhor segunda vez a Ageu, ao vigésimo quarto dia do mês, dizendo:
21 “Say to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah: I am going to shake the heavens and the earth,
21 Fala a Zorobabel, governador de Judá: Farei abalar o céu e a terra;
22 and I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the military strength of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overthrow chariots and their drivers; horses and their riders will fall, every one by the sword of another!
22 derribarei o trono dos reinos e destruirei a força dos reinos das nações; destruirei o carro e os que andam nele; os cavalos e os seus cavaleiros cairão, um pela espada do outro.
23 ‘On that day,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, my servant,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, ‘and I will make you a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh of hosts.”
23 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, tomar-te-ei, ó Zorobabel, filho de Salatiel, servo meu, diz o Senhor , e te farei como um anel de selar, porque te escolhi, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
