1 IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
1 No princípio era o Verbo, e o Verbo estava com Deus, e o Verbo era Deus.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
2 Ele estava no princípio com Deus.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not one thing made that was made.
3 Todas as coisas foram feitas por ele, e sem ele nada do que foi feito se fez.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
4 Nele estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it.
5 E a luz resplandece nas trevas, e as trevas não a compreenderam.
6 A man was sent from God, whose name was John.
6 Houve um homem enviado de Deus, cujo nome era João.
7 He came for a witness, that he might bear testimony concerning the Light, that all men through him might believe.
7 Este veio para testemunho, para que testificasse da luz, para que todos cressem por ele.
8 He was not the Light, but sent that he should bear testimony concerning the Light.
8 Não era ele a luz, mas para que testificasse da luz.
9 He was that true Light, which illumines every man by his coming into the world.
9 Ali estava a luz verdadeira, que ilumina a todo o homem que vem ao mundo.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
10 Estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por ele, e o mundo não o conheceu.
11 He came unto his peculiar people, and his peculiar people did not receive him.
11 Veio para o que era seu, e os seus não o receberam.
12 But as many as did receive him, on them he bestowed authority to become children of God, even on those who believe on his name:
12 Mas, a todos quantos o receberam, deu-lhes o poder de serem feitos filhos de Deus, aos que crêem no seu nome;
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
13 Os quais não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade do homem, mas de Deus.
14 And the Word became incarnate, and tabernacled with us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
14 E o Verbo se fez carne, e habitou entre nós, e vimos a sua glória, como a glória do unigênito do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade.
15 John bore witness concerning him, and cried, saying, This is he of whom I said, He that is coming after me, is before me: because before me he was.
15 João testificou dele, e clamou, dizendo: Este era aquele de quem eu dizia: O que vem após mim é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.
16 And from his plenitude we all have received, even grace corresponding with his grace.
16 E todos nós recebemos também da sua plenitude, e graça por graça.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but the grace and the reality came by Jesus Christ.
17 Porque a lei foi dada por Moisés; a graça e a verdade vieram por Jesus Cristo.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath thoroughly described him.
18 Deus nunca foi visto por alguém. O Filho unigênito, que está no seio do Pai, esse o revelou.
19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites, that they should question him, Who art thou?
19 E este é o testemunho de João, quando os judeus mandaram de Jerusalém sacerdotes e levitas para que lhe perguntassem: Quem és tu?
20 And he confessed, and denied it not; but acknowledged, I am not the Messiah.
20 E confessou, e não negou; confessou: Eu não sou o Cristo.
21 And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? and he said, I am not. Art thou that prophet? and he answered, No.
21 E perguntaram-lhe: Então quê? És tu Elias? E disse: Não sou. És tu profeta? E respondeu: Não.
22 Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us: What description givest thou of thyself?
22 Disseram-lhe pois: Quem és? para que demos resposta àqueles que nos enviaram; que dizes de ti mesmo?
23 He said, I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way for the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
23 Disse: Eu sou a voz do que clama no deserto: Endireitai o caminho do Senhor, como disse o profeta Isaías.
24 And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees.
24 E os que tinham sido enviados eram dos fariseus.
25 And they questioned him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptise, if thou be not the Messiah, nor Elias, nor that prophet?
25 E perguntaram-lhe, e disseram-lhe: Por que batizas, pois, se tu não és o Cristo, nem Elias, nem o profeta?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptise with water: but in the midst of you hath stood a person, whom ye have not known;
26 João respondeu-lhes, dizendo: Eu batizo com água; mas no meio devós está um a quem vós não conheceis.
27 it is he, though coming after me, who was before me, the thong of whole sandal I am not worthy to untie.
27 Este é aquele que vem após mim, que é antes de mim, do qual eu não sou digno de desatar a correia da alparca.
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptising.
28 Estas coisas aconteceram em Betabara, do outro lado do Jordão, onde João estava batizando.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world,
29 No dia seguinte João viu a Jesus, que vinha para ele, e disse: Eis o Cordeiro de Deus, que tira o pecado do mundo.
30 This is he of whom I spake, After me cometh a man who was before me: for before me he existed.
30 Este é aquele do qual eu disse: Após mim vem um homem que é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.
31 And I knew him not: though that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore am I come baptising with water.
31 E eu não o conhecia; mas, para que ele fosse manifestado a Israel, vim eu, por isso, batizando com água.
32 And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it rested upon him.
32 E João testificou, dizendo: Eu vi o Espírito descer do céu como pomba, e repousar sobre ele.
33 And I did not know him: but he that sent me baptising with water, he said to me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending as a dove, and resting upon him, that is he who baptiseth with the Holy Ghost.
33 E eu não o conhecia, mas o que me mandou a batizar com água, esse me disse: Sobre aquele que vires descer o Espírito, e sobre ele repousar, esse é o que batiza com o Espírito Santo.
34 And I have seen it, and have borne testimony that this is the Son of God.
34 E eu vi, e tenho testificado que este é o Filho de Deus.
35 On the morrow John was again standing with two of his disciples;
35 No dia seguinte João estava outra vez ali, e dois dos seus discípulos;
36 and looking upon Jesus as he walked by, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
36 E, vendo passar a Jesus, disse: Eis aqui o Cordeiro de Deus.
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
37 E os dois discípulos ouviram-no dizer isto, e seguiram a Jesus.
38 Then Jesus turned about, and seeing them following, saith to them, What are ye seeking? They said unto him, Rabbi (which signifies, when translated, Master), where is thy abode?
38 E Jesus, voltando-se e vendo que eles o seguiam, disse-lhes: Que buscais? E eles disseram: Rabi (que, traduzido, quer dizer Mestre), onde moras?
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he abode, and continued with him that day: and it was about the tenth hour.
39 Ele lhes disse: Vinde, e vede. Foram, e viram onde morava, e ficaram com ele aquele dia; e era já quase a hora décima.
40 One of the two, who had heard from John mention of Jesus, and had followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
40 Era André, irmão de Simão Pedro, um dos dois que ouviram aquilo de João, e o haviam seguido.
41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being translated, the Christ).
41 Este achou primeiro a seu irmão Simão, e disse-lhe: Achamos o Messias (que, traduzido, é o Cristo).
42 And he brought him to Jesus. Then Jesus looking on him, said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called Cephas, which, interpreted in Greek, is Petros, a Rock.
42 E levou-o a Jesus. E, olhando Jesus para ele, disse: Tu és Simão, filho de Jonas; tu serás chamado Cefas (que quer dizer Pedro).
43 The next day Jesus resolved to go into Galilee, and he findeth Philip, and saith to him, Follow me.
43 No dia seguinte quis Jesus ir à Galiléia, e achou a Filipe, e disse-lhe: Segue-me.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
44 E Filipe era de Betsaida, cidade de André e de Pedro.
45 Philip findeth Nathaniel, and saith to him, We have found him whom Moses in the law has described, and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
45 Filipe achou Natanael, e disse-lhe: Havemos achado aquele de quem Moisés escreveu na lei, e os profetas: Jesus de Nazaré, filho de José.
46 And Nathaniel said to him, Can any thing good come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
46 Disse-lhe Natanael: Pode vir alguma coisa boa de Nazaré? Disse-lhe Filipe: Vem, e vê.
47 Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite in reality, in whom there is no guile!
47 Jesus viu Natanael vir ter com ele, e disse dele: Eis aqui um verdadeiro israelita, em quem não há dolo.
48 Nathaniel saith unto him, From whence canst thou know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
48 Disse-lhe Natanael: De onde me conheces tu? Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Antes que Filipe te chamasse, te vi eu, estando tu debaixo da figueira.
49 Nathaniel answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the king of Israel.
49 Natanael respondeu, e disse-lhe: Rabi, tu és o Filho de Deus; tu és o Rei de Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? thou shalt see greater things than these.
50 Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Porque te disse: Vi-te debaixo da figueira, crês? Coisas maiores do que estas verás.
51 And he saith to him, Verily, verily, I tell you, From henceforth ye shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
51 E disse-lhe: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que daqui em diante vereis o céu aberto, e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo sobre o Filho do homem.
