1 Paul, a servant of Godan apostle moreover of Jesus Christ,according to the faith of the chosen ones of God, and the personal knowledge of the truth that is according to godliness,
1 Paulo, servo de Deus e apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, para promover a fé que é dos eleitos de Deus e o pleno conhecimento da verdade segundo a piedade.
2 In hope of life age-abiding; which God, who cannot lie, promised before age-during times,
2 Escrevo na esperança da vida eterna que o Deus que não pode mentir prometeu antes dos tempos eternos
3 but hath manifested in its fitting seasons, even his word, in the proclamation with which entrusted am Iby injunction of our Saviour God:
3 e, no momento oportuno, manifestou a sua palavra mediante a pregação que me foi confiada por ordem de Deus, nosso Salvador,
4 Unto Titus, my true child according to a common faith,favour and peace, from God
4 a Tito, verdadeiro filho, segundo a fé comum. Que a graça e a paz, da parte de Deus Pai e de Cristo Jesus, nosso Salvador, estejam com você.
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that, the things remaining undone, thou mightest completely set in order, and mightest establish, in every city, elders, as, I, with thee arranged:
5 Foi por esta causa que deixei você em Creta: para que pusesse em ordem as coisas restantes, bem como, em cada cidade, constituísse presbíteros, conforme prescrevi a você:
6 If anyone is unaccusable, a husband of, one wife, having children that believe, who are not charged with riotous excess, nor insubordinate;
6 alguém que seja irrepreensível, marido de uma só mulher, que tenha filhos crentes que não são acusados de devassidão, nem são insubordinados.
7 For it is needful that the overseer beunaccusable, as Gods steward, not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not ready to wound, not seeking gain by base means,
7 Porque é indispensável que o bispo, por ser encarregado das coisas de Deus, seja irrepreensível, não arrogante, alguém que não se irrita facilmente, não apegado ao vinho, não violento, nem ganancioso.
8 But hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, kind, possessing self-control,
8 Pelo contrário, o bispo deve ser hospitaleiro, amigo do bem, sensato, justo, piedoso, deve ter domínio de si,
9 Holding fast, in the matter of his teaching, the faithful word, that he may be able both to encourage with his healthful instruction, and, the gainsayers, to refute.
9 ser apegado à palavra fiel, que está de acordo com a doutrina, para que possa exortar pelo reto ensino e convencer os que contradizem este ensino.
10 For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially they of the circumcision,
10 Porque existem muitos, especialmente os da circuncisão, que são insubordinados, falam coisas sem sentido e enganam os outros.
11 Whose mouths must needs be stopped, men who are upsetting whole houses, teaching the things which ought not for the sake of base gain.
11 É preciso fazer com que se calem, porque andam pervertendo casas inteiras, ensinando o que não devem, com a intenção vergonhosa de ganhar dinheiro.
12 Said one from among them, a prophet, of their own!Cretans! always false, mischievous wild-beasts, idle gluttons:
12 Foi um dos cretenses, um próprio profeta deles, que disse: “Os cretenses são sempre mentirosos, feras terríveis, comilões preguiçosos.”
13 This witness, is true,for which cause, be reproving them sharply, that they may be healthy in their faith,
13 Este testemunho é verdadeiro. Portanto, repreenda-os severamente, para que sejam sadios na fé
14 Not giving heed to Judaical stories and commandments of men who are turning away from the truth:
14 e não se ocupem com fábulas judaicas, nem com mandamentos de gente que se desvia da verdade.
15 All things, are pure, unto the pure, but, unto the polluted and faithless, nothing, is pure, but polluted are both their mind and conscience;
15 Todas as coisas são puras para os puros; mas, para os impuros e descrentes, nada é puro. Porque tanto a mente como a consciência deles estão corrompidas.
16 God, they confess that they know, but, by their works, they deny him, being, abominable, and obdurate, and, as to any good work, found, worthless.
16 Afirmam que conhecem a Deus, mas o negam por meio do que fazem; é por isso que são abomináveis, desobedientes e reprovados para qualquer boa obra.
