Levítico 17

1 And Yahweh spake unto Moses saying:
1 O Senhor Deus mandou Moisés
2 Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons and unto all the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say unto them,This, is the thing which Yahweh hath commanded, saying:
2 dar a Arão, aos filhos de Arão e a todo o povo de Israel as seguintes leis :
3 What man soever, there be of the house of Israel, who slayeth an ox or lamb or goat, in the camp,or who slayeth it outside the camp;
3 Se um israelita matar um boi, ou um carneirinho, ou um cabrito dentro ou fora do acampamento
4 and, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, bringeth it not in, to present as an oblation unto Yahweh, before the habitation of Yahweh, blood, shall be imputed to that manblood, hath he shed, therefore shall that man be cut off from the midst of his people:
4 e não levar o animal até a entrada da Tenda Sagrada para oferecê-lo como sacrifício a Deus, o Senhor , esse homem será expulso do meio do povo de Israel. Ele é culpado; é como se tivesse matado uma pessoa.
5 to the end that the sons of Israel may bring in their sacrifices which they are offering upon the face of the field, that they may bring them in unto Yahwehunto the entrance of the tent of meeting, unto the priest,and that so as peace-offerings unto Yahweh, they may offer them.
5 Portanto, os israelitas, em vez de matarem os animais no campo, deverão levá-los ao sacerdote, em frente da Tenda Sagrada. Ali matarão os animais e os apresentarão ao Senhor como oferta de paz.
6 Then shall the priest dash the blood against the altar of Yahweh, at the entrance of the tent of meeting,and shall make a perfume of the fat, as a satisfying odour unto Yahweh;
6 O sacerdote borrifará com o sangue o altar que fica em frente da Tenda Sagrada e ali queimará a gordura do animal. O cheiro dessa oferta é agradável ao Senhor .
7 so shall they no more offer their sacrifices unto demons after whom they are unchastely going away,a statute age-abiding, shall this be to them unto their generations.
7 Daqui em diante e para sempre, os israelitas nunca mais oferecerão sacrifícios aos demônios do deserto; pois, se fizerem isso, estarão sendo infiéis a Deus.
8 Wherefore, unto them, shalt thou say: What man soever, there may be of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners that sojourn in their midst,who causeth to go up an ascending-offering, or a sacrifice;
8 Todos os israelitas e todos os estrangeiros que vivem no meio do povo de Israel apresentarão ao Senhor as suas ofertas que são completamente queimadas ou qualquer outro sacrifício
9 and unto the entrance of the tent of meeting, doth not bring it in, to offer it unto Yahweh, then shall that man be cut off from among his kinsfolk.
9 somente na entrada da Tenda Sagrada e em nenhum outro lugar. Quem desobedecer será expulso do meio do povo.
10 And, what man soever, there may be of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners that sojourn in their midst, that partaketh of any manner of blood, then will I set my face against the person that partaketh of the blood, and will cut him off from the midst of his people.
10 Se um israelita ou um estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo de Israel comer sangue, Deus ficará contra ele e o expulsará do meio do povo.
11 For as for the life of the flesh, in the blood, it is, therefore have, I, given it unto you upon the altar, to put a propitiatory-covering over your lives,for the blood, it is, which, by virtue of the life, maketh propitiation.
11 Pois a vida de todo ser vivente está no sangue. É por isso que Deus mandou que o sangue dos animais oferecidos como sacrifício fosse derramado no altar a fim de conseguir o perdão dos pecados do povo. Pois é o sangue, isto é, a vida, que tira os pecados.
12 For this cause, have I said unto the sons of Israel, Not a person from among you shall partake of blood,Even the sojourner that sojourneth in your midst, shall not partake of blood.
12 Por isso o Senhor diz que nenhum israelita e nenhum estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo podem comer sangue.
13 And, what man soever, there may be of the sons of Israel, or of the sojourners that sojourn in their midst, who taketh by hunting any wild-beast or bird that may be eaten, then shall he pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust;
13 Quando um israelita ou um estrangeiro que vive no meio do povo caçar um animal ou uma ave que se pode comer, ele deverá deixar que o sangue corra para o chão e depois deverá cobri-lo com terra.
14 for, as for the life of all flesh, the blood thereof, for the life thereof, standeth, therefore have I said unto the sons of IsraelOf the blood of no manner of flesh, shall ye partake, For, the life of all flesh is the blood thereof; whoso partaketh thereof, shall be cut off.
14 A vida de todo ser vivente está no sangue, e é por isso que Deus diz aos israelitas que não comam o sangue de nenhum animal, pois o sangue é a vida. Quem comer sangue será expulso do meio do povo de Israel.
15 And, in the case of any person who eateth that which died of itself or was torn in pieces, whether he be home-born, or a sojourner, then shall he wash his clothes, and bathe in water, and be unclean until the evening, and then be clean.
15 Qualquer um, seja israelita ou estrangeiro, que comer a carne de um animal que tenha tido morte natural ou que tenha sido morto por outros animais deverá lavar a roupa que estiver vestindo e tomar um banho; e ficará impuro até o pôr do sol. Depois ficará puro de novo.
16 But, if he wash them not, and his flesh, he do not bathe, then shall he bear his iniquity.
16 Mas, se não lavar a roupa e se não tomar um banho, essa pessoa será castigada.
