1 And, these, are the inheritances which the sons of Israel received in the land of Canaan,which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the ancestral heads of the tribes of the sons of Israel gave them to inherit.
1 As demais tribos de Israel receberam como herança as terras em Canaã designadas pelo sacerdote Eleazar, por Josué, filho de Num, e pelos chefes das tribos.
2 By lot, was their inheritance divided,as Yahweh commanded by the hand of Moses, unto the nine tribes and unto the half tribe.
2 Essas nove tribos e meia receberam as terras de sua herança por sorteio, como o S enhor havia ordenado por meio de Moisés.
3 For Moses had given the two tribes and the half tribe their inheritance over the Jordan,but, unto the Levites, gave he no inheritance in their midst;
3 Ele já havia designado as terras de herança para as duas tribos e meia do lado leste do rio Jordão, mas não tinha dado uma porção de terra como herança para os levitas.
4 for the sons of Joseph became two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim,so they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, save only cities to dwell in, with the pasture lands thereof, for their cattle and for their substance.
4 Os descendentes de José haviam se tornado duas tribos separadas: Manassés e Efraim. Os levitas não receberam porção alguma de terra, mas apenas cidades para morarem, com pastagens ao redor para seus animais e todos os seus bens.
5 As Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did the sons of Israel,when they apportioned the land.
5 Assim, os israelitas distribuíram a terra exatamente de acordo com as ordens do S enhor a Moisés.
6 Then came near the sons of Judah unto Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, the Kenizzite, said unto him,Thou, knowest the word which Yahweh spake unto Moses the man of God in my behalf and in thine in Kadesh-barnea.
6 Uma delegação da tribo de Judá, liderada por Calebe, filho do quenezeu Jefoné, foi a Josué em Gilgal. Calebe disse a Josué: “Lembre-se do que o S enhor disse a Moisés, o homem de Deus, a respeito de você e de mim quando estávamos em Cades-Barneia.
7 Forty years old, was I when Moses the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land,so I brought him back word, as was in my heart.
7 Eu tinha 40 anos quando Moisés, servo do S enhor , me enviou de Cades-Barneia para fazer o reconhecimento da terra de Canaã. Eu voltei e lhe dei um relatório verdadeiro,
8 But, my brethren who had been up with me, made the heart of the people melt,whereas, I, wholly followed Yahweh my God.
8 mas meus irmãos israelitas que foram comigo assustaram o povo de tal maneira que eles se encheram de medo. De minha parte, segui o S enhor , meu Deus, de todo o coração.
9 So then Moses sware on that day saying, Surely, the land on which thy foot hath trodden, unto thee, shall belong, for an inheritance, and unto thy sons, unto times age-abiding,because thou hast wholly followed Yahweh my God.
9 Por isso, naquele dia Moisés me prometeu solenemente: ‘A terra de Canaã na qual você caminhou será herança permanente para você e seus descendentes, pois você seguiu o S enhor , meu Deus, de todo o coração’.
10 Now, therefore lo! Yahweh hath kept me alive as he spake these forty and five years from the time Yahweh spake this word unto Moses, while Israel journeyed in the desert. Now, therefore lo! Ito-day, am eighty and five years old:
10 “Agora, como você vê, em todos estes 45 anos, desde que Moisés disse essas palavras, o S enhor me preservou como havia prometido, mesmo quando Israel vagava pelo deserto. Hoje estou com 85 anos.
11 I remain, to-day, as courageous as on the day when Moses sent me, as my strength was then, so also my strength is now,for war, both to go out and to come in.
11 Continuo forte como no dia em que Moisés me enviou, e ainda posso viajar e lutar tão bem quanto naquela época.
12 Now, therefore, give me this mountain, whereof Yahweh spake, on that day,for, thou thyself, didst hear, on that day, that, Anakim, were there, and great cities fortified, if so be Yahweh be with me, then shall I dispossess them, as spake Yahweh.
12 Portanto, dê-me a região montanhosa que o S enhor me prometeu. Você certamente se lembra de que, enquanto fazíamos o reconhecimento da terra, descobrimos que os descendentes de Enaque viviam ali em grandes cidades fortificadas. Mas, se o S enhor estiver comigo, eu os expulsarei da terra, como o S enhor prometeu”.
13 So Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb son of Jephunneh, for an inheritance.
13 Então Josué abençoou Calebe, filho de Jefoné, e lhe deu Hebrom como sua porção de terra.
14 For this cause, hath Hebron belonged unto Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite, for an inheritance, unto this day,because he wholly followed Yahweh, God of Israel.
14 Até hoje Hebrom pertence aos descendentes de Calebe, filho do quenezeu Jefoné, pois ele seguiu fielmente o S enhor , o Deus de Israel.
15 Now, the name of Hebron, was formerly, City of Arba, the greatest man among the Anakim, was he. And, the land, had rest from war.
15 Antes disso, Hebrom era chamada Quiriate-Arba, em homenagem a Arba, um grande herói dos descendentes de Enaque. E a terra descansou da guerra.
