1 So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.
1 O profeta Jeremias recebeu do S enhor estas mensagens acerca das nações.
2 Of Egypt, Concerning the force of Pharaoh-necho, king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates, in Carchemish,which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, smote, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2 Esta mensagem acerca do Egito foi anunciada no quarto ano do reinado de Jeoaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judá, quando o faraó Neco, rei do Egito, e seu exército foram derrotados junto ao rio Eufrates por Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, na batalha de Carquemis.
3 Prepare ye buckler and shield, And draw near to battle:
3 “Preparem seus escudos e avancem para a batalha!
4 Harness the horses, and mount, ye horsemen, Stand forth in helmets,Polish the lances, put on the coats of mail.
4 Selem os cavalos e montem neles, cavaleiros! Tomem suas posições e coloquem os capacetes. Afiem as lanças e vistam as armaduras.
5 Why have I seen it? They, panic-struck, are drawing back, Yea, their heroes, are crushed, Yea they have, fled, and not turned,Terror round about! Declareth Yahweh.
5 Mas o que vejo? O exército egípcio foge, apavorado. Seus guerreiros mais valentes correm sem olhar para trás. Estão cercados de terror”, diz o S
6 Let not the swift, flee, Nor let the hero, escape,Northward, beside the river Euphrates, have they stumbled, and fallen.
6 “Os mais velozes não conseguem fugir, os mais fortes não podem escapar. No norte, junto ao rio Eufrates, tropeçam e caem.
7 Who is it that is like the Nile when it riseth, Like rivers when his waters are tossed?
7 “Quem é este que sobe como o Nilo no tempo das cheias e inunda toda a terra?
8 Egypt was like the Nile when it riseth, And like rivers, when the waters are tossed: So he saidI will rise, I will cover the earth, I will destroy the city, and the dwellers therein.
8 É o exército egípcio que inunda toda a terra. Conta vantagem de que a cobrirá como uma enchente e destruirá as cidades e seus habitantes.
9 Mount the horses, And drive the chariots madly on, So let the heroes, go forth,Ethiopians and Libyans that grasp the buckler, And Lydians that graspthat treadthe bow, But, that day, belongeth to My Lord Yahweh of hosts
9 Avancem, cavalos e carros de guerra, ataquem, guerreiros valentes do Egito! Venham todos vocês, aliados da Etiópia, da Líbia e da Lídia, hábeis com o escudo e o arco.
10 A day of avenging, to avenge him of his adversaries, When the sword shall devour and be filled, and be sated with their blood,For, a sacrifice, hath My Lord, Yahweh of hosts, In the land of the North Towards the river Euphrates.
10 Porque este é o dia do Soberano S enhor dos Exércitos, dia de vingar-se de seus inimigos. A espada devorará até se fartar, sim, até se embriagar com seu sangue. O Soberano S na terra do norte, junto ao rio Eufrates.
11 Go up to Gilead and fetch balsam, O virgin daughter of Egypt! In vain, hast thou multiplied remedies, Healing, there is none for thee.
11 “Suba a Gileade para buscar remédio, ó filha virgem do Egito! Mas de nada adiantarão seus muitos medicamentos, pois não há cura para você.
12 The nations have heard of thy disgrace, And, thine outcry, hath filled the earth,For hero against hero, have they stumbled, Together, have fallen, the twain!
12 As nações ouviram falar de sua humilhação, a terra está cheia de seus gritos de desespero. Seus guerreiros mais valentes tropeçarão uns nos outros e juntos cairão.”
13 The word which Yahweh spake unto Jeremiah the prophet,as to the coming of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:
13 Então o S enhor deu ao profeta Jeremias esta mensagem acerca dos planos de Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, para atacar o Egito.
14 Tell ye it in Egypt, And let it be heard in Migdol, Yea let it be heard in Noph, and in Tahpanhes,Say yeStand thou forth, and prepare thyself, For a sword hath devoured round about thee.
14 “Anunciem esta mensagem no Egito, proclamem-na em Migdol, Mênfis Preparem-se para a batalha, pois a espada devorará todos ao seu redor.
15 Wherefore have thy valiant ones been laid prostrate? He hath made no stand, because, Yahweh, hath driven him back:
15 Por que seus guerreiros caíram? Não conseguem ficar em pé, pois o S
16 Hath made many a one to be stumbling, Yea fallen is every one against his neighbour, So they have saidArise and let us return to our own people, And unto the land of our birth, From the face of the sword of the oppressor.
16 Tropeçam e caem uns sobre os outros e dizem entre si: ‘Venham, vamos voltar ao nosso povo, à nossa terra natal; vamos fugir da espada do inimigo!’.
17 Proclaim ye a name,Pharaoh, king of Egypta Sound! He hath overstepped the time appointed!
17 Ali eles dirão: ‘O faraó, o rei do Egito, só faz barulho; perdeu sua oportunidade!’.
18 As I live, saith the King, Yahweh of hosts, is his name: Though Like Tabor among mountains, Like Carmel, Into the sea shall he go!
18 “Tão certo como eu vivo”, diz o Rei, cujo nome é S “vem contra o Egito alguém alto como o monte Tabor, como o monte Carmelo junto ao mar.
19 Baggage for captivity, prepare thee, O inhabitress, daughter of Egypt; For, Noph, shall become a desolation, And be burned without inhabitant.
19 Arrume a bagagem! Prepare-se para ir ao exílio, povo do Egito! A cidade de Mênfis será destruída, e não restará um só habitante.
20 A calf of great beauty, is Egypt: The gad-fly, out of the North, comethcometh.
20 O Egito é formoso como uma bela novilha, mas uma grande mosca do norte está a caminho.
21 Even her hirelings in her midst are like fatted calves, For, even they, have turnedhave fled at once! have made no stand! For, their day of doom, hath come upon them, The time of their visitation.
21 Os mercenários do Egito são fortes como bezerros gordos, mas eles também darão meia-volta e fugirão, pois este é um dia de grande calamidade para o Egito, o tempo de seu castigo.
22 Her noise, like a serpent, departeth,For, with a force, they advance, And with axes, have they come against her, like them who fell trees:
22 O Egito foge como uma serpente que desliza para longe; os exércitos invasores avançam e vêm contra ele com machados, como se fossem lenhadores.
23 They have cut down her forest Declareth Yahweh, Surely he cannot be searched out,For they have outnumbered locusts, and cannot be counted.
23 Cortarão seu povo como árvores”, diz o S enhor , “pois são mais numerosos que gafanhotos.
24 Put to shame is the daughter of Egypt,She hath been delivered into the hand of the people of the North.
24 O Egito será humilhado; será entregue ao povo do norte.”
25 Saith Yahweh of host God of Israel,Behold me! bringing punishmentagainst Amon of No, and upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt, and upon her gods and upon her kings,Even upon Pharaoh, and upon all that trust in him;
25 Assim diz o S enhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: “Castigarei Amom, o deus de Tebas, e todos os outros deuses do Egito. Castigarei seus governantes, o faraó e todos que nele confiam.
26 And I will deliver themInto the hand of them who are seeking their life, Even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon And into the hand of his servants,And after that, shall it be inhabited as in the days of old Declareth Yahweh.
26 Eu os entregarei àqueles que desejam matá-los, a Nabucodonosor, rei da Babilônia, e a seu exército. Depois disso, porém, a terra voltará a ser habitada, como no passado. Eu, o S enhor , falei!
27 Thou, therefore, do not fear, O my Servant Jacob Nor be dismayed O Israel, For behold me! Saving thee from afar, And thy seed from the land of their captivity,So shall Jacob return and be quiet and shall rest, With none to occasion alarm.
27 “Mas não tenha medo, meu servo Jacó; não desanime, ó Israel. Pois eu o trarei de volta de terras distantes, e seus descendentes retornarão do exílio. Israel e ninguém o assustará.
28 Thou, do not fear, O my Servant Jacob, Urgeth Yahweh, For, with thee, am I: Though I make an end of all the nations whither I have driven thee, Yet of thee, will I not make an end, But will correct thee in measure, And not hold thee, guiltless,
28 Não tenha medo, meu servo Jacó, pois estou com você”, diz o S “Destruirei completamente todas as nações entre as quais o espalhei, mas você não será completamente destruído. Eu o disciplinarei, mas com justiça; não posso permitir que fique impune.”
