1 Then said Yahweh unto me, Though Moses and Samuel should stand before me, My soul could not be toward this people,Send them away from before me And let them go forth.
1 Então o S enhor me disse: “Mesmo que Moisés e Samuel intercedessem diante de mim em favor deste povo, eu não ajudaria. Fora com eles! Expulse-os de minha presença!
2 And it shall come to pass when they say unto thee Whither shall we go? Then shalt, thou say unto them, Thus saith YahwehSuch as are for death, to death, and Such as are for t he sword, to the sword, and Such as are for famine, to the famine, and Such as are for captivity, to captivity.
2 E se lhe perguntarem: ‘Para onde iremos?’, diga-lhes: ‘Assim diz o S enhor : “‘Os destinados à morte, para a morte; os destinados à guerra, para a guerra; os destinados à fome, para a fome; os destinados ao cativeiro, para o cativeiro’.
3 And I will set in charge over themfour species Declareth Yahweh, The sword to slay, and The dogs to trail along,and The bird of the heavens and The beast of the earth to devour and to destroy.
3 “Enviarei contra eles quatro tipos de destruidores”, diz o S enhor . “Enviarei espada para matá-los, cães para arrastá-los, abutres para devorá-los e animais selvagens para acabar com o que tiver sobrado.
4 And I will make them a terror, to all the kingdoms of the earth,On account of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For what he did in Jerusalem.
4 Por causa das maldades que Manassés, filho de Ezequias, rei de Judá, fez em Jerusalém, farei de meu povo objeto de horror para todos os reinos da terra.
5 For who shall have pity upon thee O Jerusalem? And who shall lament for thee? And who shall turn aside, to ask for thy welfare?
5 “Quem terá compaixão de você, Jerusalém? Quem chorará por você? Quem se dará o trabalho de perguntar se está bem?
6 Thou, hast abandoned, me, Declareth Yahweh, Backward, thou wilt go, Therefore have I stretched forth my hand against thee and laid thee waste,I am weary of having compassion.
6 Você me abandonou e me deu as costas”, diz o S “Portanto, levantarei a mão para destruí-la; estou cansado de mostrar compaixão.
7 Therefore have I winnowed them with a winnowing shovel in the gates of the land,I have bereavedI have destroyed my people, From their own ways, have they not returned.
7 Às portas das cidades, eu os espalharei ao vento, como palha separada do cereal, e levarei seus filhos queridos. Destruirei meu próprio povo, pois não querem abandonar seus maus caminhos.
8 Their widows have become multiplied to me, beyond the sand of the seas, I have brought against themupon the mother of young menthe spoiler in the broad noon,I have let fall upon her suddenly, excitement and terrors.
8 Haverá mais viúvas que grãos de areia do mar. Ao meio-dia, trarei um destruidor contra as mães dos jovens. Farei cair sobre elas angústia e terror repentinos.
9 Languisheth! she who had given birth to seven, She hath breathed out her life Her sun hath gone in, while yet it was day, She hath turned pale and hath turned red,And the remnant of them, to the sword, will I deliver before their enemies, Declareth Yahweh.
9 A mãe de sete filhos desmaia e respira com dificuldade; para ela, o sol se pôs enquanto ainda era dia. Agora está sem filhos, envergonhada e humilhada. Entregarei os que restarem para serem mortos pelo inimigo. Eu, o S
10 Woe to me! my mother, That thou didst bear me, A man of litigation and a man of contention to all the land,I have not lent on interest Nor have they lent on interest to me, Every one, hath treated me with contempt.
10 Então eu disse: “Como estou aflito, minha mãe! Quem dera eu tivesse morrido ao nascer! Sou odiado em todo lugar. Não sou um credor que ameaça cobrar a dívida, nem um devedor que se recusa a pagá-la; ainda assim, todos me amaldiçoam”.
11 Said Yahweh,Verily, I will loose thee, for good! Verily, I will intercede for thee In the time of calamity, and In the time of distress with the enemy!
11 O S enhor respondeu: “Eu cuidarei de você; em tempos de calamidade e aflição, seus inimigos lhe pedirão que interceda por eles.
12 Shall iron crush the iron from the North and the bronze?
12 Alguém é capaz de quebrar uma barra de ferro do norte ou uma barra de bronze?
13 Thy substance and thy treasuresfor a prey, will I give, without price,Even for all thy sins and in all thy bounds:
13 Entregarei de graça sua riqueza e seus tesouros como despojo a seus inimigos, pois o pecado corre solto pela terra.
14 Therefore will I make thee pass, with thine enemies into a land thou knowest not,For, a fire, hath been kindled in mine anger Upon you, shall it burn.
14 Farei que seus inimigos os levem como prisioneiros para uma terra estrangeira. Pois minha ira se acendeu como fogo e arderá contra vocês”.
15 Thou knowestO Yahweh Remember me and visit me and avenge me upon my persecutors, Do not of thy longsuffering, take me away,KnowI have borne for thy sake, reproach.
15 Então eu disse: “S intervém, ajuda-me e castiga meus perseguidores! Dá-me tempo, não permitas que eu morra ainda jovem; é por teu nome que tenho sofrido humilhações.
16 Thy words, were found, and I did eat them, Then became thy words unto me the joy and gladness of my heart,For thy Name hath been called upon me, O Yahweh God of hosts!
16 Quando descobri tuas palavras, devorei-as; são minha alegria e dão prazer a meu coração, pois pertenço a ti, ó S
17 I sat not in the circle of mockers, Nor became I uproarious,Because of thy hand, by myself did I sit, For with indignation, hadst thou filled me.
17 Nunca participei dos banquetes alegres do povo; sentei-me sozinho, porque tua mão pesava sobre mim, e enchi-me de indignação com os pecados deles.
18 Wherefore hath my pain become perpetual? And my wound, incurable? Refuseth to be healed? Wilt thou, indeed be, to me that disappointeth, Waters that cannot be trusted?
18 Por que, então, continuo a sofrer? Por que minha ferida não tem cura? Teu socorro parece incerto como um riacho inconstante; é como uma fonte que secou”.
19 Wherefore Thus, saith YahwehIf thou wouldst return, I will cause thee to return Before me, shalt thou stand, Yea if thou wilt bring out the precious from among the vile, As mine own mouth shalt thou be,Let them return unto thee, But thou, shalt not return unto them;
19 Assim diz o S enhor : “Se voltar para mim, eu o restaurarei, para que possa continuar a me servir. Se disser palavras de valor, em vez de palavras inúteis, será meu porta-voz. Você os influenciará, mas não deixará que o influenciem.
20 So will I make thee to this people a wall of bronze, fortified, When they fight against thee, they shall not prevail against thee,For with thee, am, I, to save thee and to deliver thee, Declareth Yahweh;
20 Lutarão contra você como um exército, mas o tornarei invencível como uma muralha de bronze. Não o vencerão, pois estou com você para protegê-lo e livrá-lo. Eu, o S
21 Thus will I deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked,And redeem thee out of the grasp of the tyrants.
21 Certamente o livrarei desses homens perversos e o resgatarei de suas mãos cruéis”.
