1 Alas! for the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, And for his fading wreath of majestic beauty,Which is on the head of the fertile valley, of them who are overcome with wine.
1 Ai da coroa de orgulho, para os bêbados de Efraim, cuja beleza gloriosa é uma flor que murcha, a qual está na cabeça dos vales férteis daqueles que são dominados pelo vinho!
2 Lo! My Lord hath one who is, strong and bold, Like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, Like a storm of mighty waters overflowing, Hath he thrust it down to the earth with force:
2 Eis que o Senhor tem alguém poderoso e forte, o qual como uma tempestade de granizo e um temporal destruidor, como uma inundação de poderosas águas transbordantes, arremessará para a terra com a mão.
3 With the feet shall be trodden down, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,
3 A coroa de orgulho, os bêbados de Efraim, serão pisados sob os pés.
4 So shall his fading wreath of majestic beauty, Which is on the head of the fertile valley, becomeLike the first-ripe fig before fruit-harvest, Which when he that looketh upon it seeth while it is yet in his hand, he swalloweth it up.
4 E a beleza gloriosa, a qual está ao longo da cabeça do vale fértil, será uma flor murcha. E como a fruta temporã antes do verão, a qual quando aquele que a olha a vê, enquanto ainda está em sua mão, a devora.
5 In that day, will Yahweh of hosts become A crown of beauty, and A diadem of majesty,Unto the remnant of his people:
5 Naquele dia o SENHOR dos Exércitos será por uma coroa de glória e por um diadema de beleza para o remanescente de seu povo.
6 Even a spirit of justiceto him that presideth over justice, And strength to them who would turn back the battle at the gate.
6 E por um espírito de julgamento para aquele que se assenta em juízo, e por força para aqueles que rechaçam a batalha para o portão.
7 But as for these, With wine, do they reel, and With strong drink, do they stagger,Priest and prophet, reel with strong drink They are swallowed up through wine They stagger through strong drink, They reel in prophetic vision, They totter in pronouncing judgment.
7 Porém, eles também têm errado por causa do vinho, e através da bebida forte estão fora do caminho. O sacerdote e o profeta têm errado através da bebida forte, eles estão imersos no vinho, eles estão fora do caminho por causa da bebida forte. Eles erram na visão, eles tropeçam no julgamento.
8 For, all tables, are full of filthy vomit,There is no place!
8 Porque todas as mesas estão repletas de vômito e imundície, tanto que não há mais nenhum lugar limpo.
9 Whom, would he teach knowledge? And, whom, would he cause to understand the message? Them who are weaned from the milk? taken from the breasts?
9 A quem ele ensinará conhecimento? E a quem ele fará compreender doutrina? Àqueles que são desmamados e retirados dos seios.
10 For it isPrecept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line,A little here a little there.
10 Porque preceito precisa ser sobre preceito, preceito sobre preceito; linha sobre linha, linha sobre linha, aqui um pouco, e lá um pouco.
11 For, with a jabbering lip, and with an alien tongue, must he speak unto this people!
11 Porque com lábios que gaguejam e outra língua ele falará a este povo.
12 To whom he saidThis, is the restgive ye rest to the weary, and This, is the quietness,But they were unwilling to hear.
12 A quem ele disse: Este é o repouso por meio do qual vós podeis fazer o cansado descansar e este é o agradavelmente novo, ainda assim eles não ouviriam.
13 So the word of Yahweh must be to themPrecept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, A little here, a little there,That they may go and fall backward and be torn and snared and captured.
13 Porém, a palavra do SENHOR foi para eles preceito sobre preceito, mandato sobre mandato; regra sobre regra, linha sobre linha; aqui um pouco e lá um pouco, para que eles possam ir, e cair para trás, e ser quebrados, e enlaçados e capturados.
14 Wherefore, hear ye the word of Yahweh, Ye men who scoff,Ye rulers of this people that is in Jerusalem.
14 Por conseguinte, ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, vós homens que desdenham, que governam este povo, o qual está em Jerusalém.
15 Because ye have saidWe have solemnised a covenant with death, And with hades, have we effected a vision,The overflowing scourge when it sweepeth by, shall not reach unto us, For we have made lying our refuge. And in falsehood, have we hid ourselves,
15 Porquanto, vós tendes dito: Nós temos feito um pacto com a morte, e com o inferno estamos de acordo; quando o transbordante flagelo vier atravessar, ele não chegará até nós, porquanto nós temos feito das mentiras nosso refúgio e sob a falsidade temos nos escondido.
16 Therefore, Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, Behold me! founding in Zion a stone, A stone of testing, The costly corner of a well-laid foundation, he that trusteth, shall not make haste!
16 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Eis que eu ponho em Sião por alicerce uma pedra, uma pedra à toda prova, uma preciosa pedra de esquina, um alicerce inabalável. Aquele que crer não se apressará.
17 But I will makeJustice the line, and Righteousness the plummet,And the hail shall, sweep away, your refuge of lying, And your hiding-place, the waters shall overflow;
17 Também porei o juízo por linha e a justiça por prumo. E o granizo eliminará completamente o refúgio das mentiras, e as águas transbordarão o lugar de esconderijo.
18 So shall be wiped out your covenant with death, And your vision with hades, not stand,When the overflowing scourge, sweepeth past, then shall ye be thereby beaten down:
18 E seu pacto com a morte será anulado e seu acordo com o inferno não prevalecerá; quando o transbordante flagelo passar, então vós sereis pisoteados por ele.
19 As often as it sweepeth past, it shall take you away, For morning by morning, shall it pass along. By day and by night,And it shall be nothing less than a terror to make out the message;
19 Desde o momento em que isto passar, vos arrebatará. Pois estender-se-á de manhã a manhã, pelo dia e pela noite, e isto será um aborrecimento só o compreender a notícia.
20 For too short is the couch to stretch oneself out,And, the coverlet, too narrow, when one draweth up his feet.
20 Porque a cama é mais curta do que um homem é capaz de se esticar sobre ela. E a coberta mais estreita do que o necessário para ele envolver-se nela.
21 For as in Mount Perazim, will Yahweh, arise, As in the vale of Gibeon, will he be stirred,To do his workforeign is his work, And to perform his taskstrange is his task.
21 Porque o SENHOR levantar-se-á como no monte Perazim. Ele estará furioso como no vale de Gibeão, para que ele possa fazer sua obra, sua estranha obra, e fará acontecer seu ato, seu estranho ato.
22 Now, therefore do not show yourselves scoffers, Lest your fetters, be bound fast,For, of a full end, and that a decreed one, have I heard from My Lord, Yahweh of hosts upon all the land
22 Agora, portanto, não sejais vós zombadores, por medo de que seus grilhões se tornem fortes. Porque eu tenho ouvido da parte do Senhor DEUS dos Exércitos uma destruição, determinada sobre a terra toda.
23 Give ear, and hear ye my voice,Hearken, and hear ye my speech:
23 Dai vós ouvidos e ouvi minha voz. Escutai e ouvi meu discurso.
24 All day long, doth the plowman plow for sowing? Doth he continue laying open and harrowing his soil?
24 O fazendeiro ara o dia todo para semear? Ele abre e quebra os torrões de seu terreno?
25 Doth he not when he hath levelled the face thereof, Cast abroad the fennel? And, the cummin, doth he not scatter? And plant wheat in rows, And barley in a lot, And spelt in the border thereof?
25 Quando ele tem feito plana a face daquele lugar não lança ele sobre uma ampla área o endro, e espalha o cominho, e lança na área principal trigo, e a cevada selecionada e o centeio no seu devido lugar?
26 Yea One hath trained him to good judgment, His God, directeth him.
26 Porque seu Deus o instrui para discernir e o ensina.
27 For not with a sledge, must, black coriander be threshed, Nor must, the wheel of a cart, on cummin, be turned, But with a staff, must fennel be eaten, And cummin with a rod:
27 Pois o endro não é debulhado com um instrumento para debulhar, nem uma roda de carroça é movida sobre o cominho. Porém, o endro é debulhado com um bastão e o cominho com uma vara.
28 Bread-corn, must be crushed,Yet would he not be evermore, threshing, it, So he hasteneth over it the wheel of his cart, with his horsemen, He crusheth it not!
28 O grão usado para fazer pão é esmagado, pois ele não estará sempre o debulhando, nem o esmiúça com a roda de sua carroça nem o esmaga com seus cavaleiros.
29 Even this, from Yahweh of hosts, cometh forth,Who hath bestowed distinction upon counsel, And magnified sound wisdom.
29 Isto também vem do SENHOR dos Exércitos o qual é maravilhoso em aconselhar e excelente em trabalhar.
