1 And it came to pass that Isaac, was old, and his eyes became too dim to see, so he called Esau his elder son and said unto him My son! And he said unto him, Behold me!
1 Isaque já estava bem velho e havia ficado cego. Um dia ele chamou Esaú, o seu filho mais velho, e disse: — Meu filho! — Estou aqui, pai — respondeu ele.
2 And he said, Behold, I pray thee, I am old,I know not the day of my death.
2 O pai lhe disse: — Você está vendo que estou velho e um dia desses vou morrer.
3 Now, therefore, take I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and catch for me game;
3 Pegue o seu arco e as suas flechas, vá até o campo e cace um animal.
4 and make for me dainty meats, such as I love and bring in to me, that I may eat,To the end my soul may bless thee, ere yet I lie!
4 Prepare uma comida saborosa, como eu gosto, e traga aqui para mim. Depois de comer, eu lhe darei a minha bênção, antes de morrer.
5 Now, Rebekah, was hearkening, when Isaac spake unto Esau his son, and Esau went his way to the field, to catch game, to bring in.
5 Acontece que Rebeca escutou o que Isaque disse a Esaú. Por isso, quando ele saiu para caçar,
6 Rebekah, therefore spake unto Jacob her son saying,Lo! I heard thy father, speaking unto Esau thy brother, saying,
6 ela disse a Jacó: — Escutei agora mesmo uma conversa do seu pai com o seu irmão Esaú. O seu pai disse assim:
7 Bring in for me gains and make for me dainty meats, that I may eat; and let me bless thee in the presence of Yahweh before my death.
7 “Vá caçar um animal e prepare uma comida saborosa para mim. Depois de comer, eu lhe darei a minha bênção na presença de Deus, o Senhor , antes de morrer.”
8 Now, therefore my son, hearken unto my voice,in that which I am commanding thee:
8 Agora, meu filho — continuou Rebeca — escute bem e faça o que eu vou dizer.
9 Go, I pray thee, unto the flock, and fetch me from thence two kids of the goats, fine ones,that I may make of them dainty meats for thy father such as he loveth:
9 Vá ao lugar onde estão os nossos animais e traga dois cabritos dos melhores. Eu vou preparar uma comida saborosa, como o seu pai gosta,
10 Then shalt thou take them in unto thy father and he shall eat,To the end he may bless thee before his death.
10 e você vai levá-la para ele comer. Depois o seu pai vai abençoar você, antes que ele morra.
11 And Jacob said unto Rebekah his mother, Lo! Esau my brother, is a hairy man, whereas, I, am a smooth man:
11 Aí Jacó disse à mãe: — O meu irmão é muito peludo, e eu não.
12 peradventure my father might feel me, then should I be in his eyes as one that mocketh,and should bring upon myself a reproach, and not a blessing!
12 Se o meu pai me apalpar e descobrir que sou eu, ele vai saber que eu estou tentando enganá-lo. Então ele vai me amaldiçoar em vez de me abençoar.
13 And his mother said to him, Upon me, be thy reproach my son,only hearken unto my voice and go fetch for me.
13 Mas a mãe respondeu: — Nesse caso, que a maldição caia sobre mim, meu filho. Faça exatamente o que eu disse: vá e traga os cabritos para mim.
14 So he went, and fetched , and brought them in to his mother, and his mother made dainty meats, such as his father loved.
14 Jacó foi, pegou os cabritos e os levou à mãe, e ela preparou uma comida saborosa, como Isaque gostava.
15 Then took Rebekah the garments of Esau her elder son, the costly ones, which were with her in the house,and put them on Jacob her younger son:
15 Depois ela pegou a melhor roupa de Esaú, que estava guardada em casa, e com ela vestiu Jacó.
16 and the, skins of the kids of the goats, put she upon his hands,and on the smooth part of his neck;
16 Com a pele dos cabritos ela cobriu as mãos e o pescoço de Jacó, que não tinha pelos.
17 then placed she the dainty meats and the bread, which she had made ready, in the hand of Jacob her son.
17 Depois entregou a Jacó a comida gostosa e o pão que ela havia feito.
18 So he went in unto his father, and said My father! And he said Behold me! who art, thou, my son?
18 Então Jacó foi até onde o pai estava e disse: — Pai! — Aqui estou — respondeu ele. — Quem é você, meu filho?
19 And Jacob said unto his father I, am Esau thy firstborn, I have made ready, as thou didst bid me. Rise, I pray thee, sit up, and eat thou of my game, To the end thy soul may bless me.
19 — Eu sou Esaú, o seu filho mais velho — disse Jacó. — Já fiz o que o senhor mandou. Levante-se, por favor; sente-se, coma da carne do animal que cacei e depois me abençoe.
20 Then said Isaac unto his son. How is it thou hast been so quick in finding, my son? And he said, Because Yahweh thy God caused it so to fall out before me.
20 Aí Isaque perguntou: — Mas como foi que você achou a caça tão depressa, meu filho? Jacó respondeu: — O
21 Then said Isaac unto Jacob. Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee my sonwhether, thou thyself, art my son Esau, or not.
21 Então Isaque disse a Jacó: — Chegue mais perto para que eu possa apalpar você. Assim vou saber se você é Esaú mesmo ou não.
22 So Jacob came near unto Isaac his father, and he felt him; then said he the voice is the voice of Jacob; But, the hands, are the hands of Esau.
22 Jacó chegou perto de Isaque, e ele o apalpou e disse: — A sua voz é a voz de Jacó, mas as mãos parecem as mãos de Esaú.
23 So he did not find him out, because, his hands were like the hands of Esau his brother hairy,so he blessed him.
23 Assim, Isaque não reconheceu que era Jacó, pois as suas mãos estavam peludas como as de Esaú, e por isso ele o abençoou.
24 And he said, Thou thyself, art my son Esau? And he said, I am!
24 Mas, antes de abençoá-lo, perguntou mais uma vez: — Você é mesmo o meu filho Esaú? — Sou, sim — respondeu Jacó.
25 So he said, Bring it near to me., that I may eat of the game of my son, To the end my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat, and be brought in to him wine, and he drank.
25 Então o pai disse: — Traga a carne da caça para que eu coma. Depois eu o abençoarei. Jacó serviu a comida ao seu pai e também trouxe vinho. Isaque comeu, e bebeu,
26 Then Isaac his father said unto him,Come thou near I pray thee and kiss me my son.
26 e depois disse: — Venha cá, meu filho, e me dê um beijo.
27 So he came near, and kissed him, and he smelled the smell of his garments and blessed him,and said. See! the smell of my son, As the smell of a field, which Yahweh hath blessed;
27 Jacó chegou perto e beijou o pai. Quando sentiu o cheiro da roupa que Jacó estava usando, Isaque o abençoou e disse assim: “Ah! O cheiro do meu filho é como o cheiro de um campo que o
28 Then, may God give thee of the dew of the heavens, And of the fatness of the earth,And abundance of corn and new wine:
28 Meu filho, que Deus lhe dê o orvalho do céu; que os seus campos produzam boas colheitas e fartura de trigo e vinho.
29 Let peoples serve thee And races bow down to thee, Become thou lord to thy brethren, And let the sons of thy mother bow down to thee,He that curseth thee, be accursed! And he that blesseth thee, be blessed!
29 Que nações sejam dominadas por você, e que você seja respeitado pelos povos. Que você mande nos seus parentes, e que os descendentes da sua mãe o tratem com respeito. Malditos sejam aqueles que o amaldiçoarem, e que sejam abençoados os que o abençoarem!”
30 And it came to pass as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob,yea it came to pass when Jacob, had only just gone forth, from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother, came in from his hunting.
30 Isaque acabou de dar a bênção, e Jacó ia saindo, quando Esaú chegou, vindo da caçada.
31 Then, he too, made dainty meats, and brought in to his father,and said to his father, Let my father rise that he may eat of the game of his son, To the end thy soul may bless me!
31 Ele também fez uma comida gostosa e levou para o pai. Aí disse: — Levante-se, por favor, coma da caça que eu matei e depois me abençoe.
32 And Isaac his father said to him Who art, thou? And he said, I, am thy son thy firstborn, Esau.
32 Então Isaque perguntou: — Quem é você? — Eu sou Esaú, o seu filho mais velho.
33 Then did Isaac tremble with an exceeding great trembling, and said Who then was it that caught game and brought in to me and I did eat of all ere yet thou didst come in and I blessed him? Yea blessed, shall he remain!
33 Isaque ficou agitado e começou a tremer muito. E disse: — Então quem foi que caçou um animal e trouxe para mim? Eu comi antes que você chegasse e dei àquele homem a minha bênção. Ele é quem será abençoado.
34 When Esau heard the words of his father, then cried he out with an outcry loud and bitter exceedingly,and said to his father, Bless even me also, O my father!
34 Quando Esaú ouviu isso, deu um grito cheio de amargura e disse: — Meu pai, dê a sua bênção para mim também!
35 Then he said, Thy brother came in with deceit,and took away thy blessing.
35 Porém Isaque respondeu: — O seu irmão veio, me enganou e ficou com a bênção que era sua.
36 And he said, Is it because his name, is called, Jacob, that he hath tricked me, now twice? My birthright, he took away, And lo! now, he hath taken away my blessing! And he said, Hast thou not reserved for me a blessing?
36 Esaú disse: — Esta é a segunda vez que ele me engana. Foi com razão que puseram nele o nome de Jacó . Primeiro ele me tirou os direitos de filho mais velho e agora tirou a bênção que era minha. Pai, será que o senhor não guardou nenhuma bênção para mim?
37 Then answered Isaac and said to Esau,Lo a lord, have I appointed him unto thee, And, all his brethren, lave I given to him as servants, And with corn and new wine, have I sustained him,And for theenow, what can I do, my son?
37 Isaque respondeu: — Eu já dei a Jacó autoridade sobre você e fiz com que todos os parentes de Jacó sejam escravos dele. Também disse que ele terá muito trigo e muito vinho. Agora não posso fazer nada por você, meu filho.
38 And Esau said unto his father, But one blessing, hast thou, O my father? Bless, me also, O my father! And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
38 Porém Esaú insistiu: — Será que o senhor tem só uma bênção? Abençoe também a mim, meu pai. E começou a chorar alto.
39 Then answered Isaac his father and said unto him,Lo! of the fat parts of the earth, shall be thy dwelling, And of the dew of the heavens, above;
39 Então Isaque disse: “Você viverá longe de terras boas e longe do orvalho que cai do céu.
40 And on thy sword, shalt thou live, And thy brother, shalt thou serve: But it shall come to pass when thou shalt rove at large, Then shalt thou break his yoke from off thy neck.
40 Você viverá pela sua espada e será empregado do seu irmão. Porém, quando você se revoltar, se livrará dele.”
41 And Esau lay in wait for Jacob, on account of the blessing wherewith his father had blessed him,and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father draw near, when I can slay Jacob my brother.
41 Esaú ficou com ódio de Jacó porque o seu pai tinha dado a ele a bênção. Então pensou assim: “O meu pai vai morrer logo. Quando acabarem os dias de luto, vou matar o meu irmão.”
42 Then were told to Rebekah, the words of Esau her elder son, so she sent and called for Jacob, her younger son, and said unto himLo! Esau, thy brother, is consoling himself as touching thee, to slay thee.
42 Rebeca ficou sabendo do plano de Esaú e mandou chamar Jacó. Ela disse: — Escute aqui! O seu irmão Esaú está planejando se vingar de você; ele quer matá-lo.
43 Now, therefore, my son, hearken to my voice,and rise flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;
43 Por isso, meu filho, preste atenção. Vá agora mesmo para a casa de Labão, o meu irmão, que mora em Harã.
44 And thou shalt dwell with him a few days,until that the wrath of thy brother turn away:
44 Fique algum tempo lá com ele, até que passe o ódio do seu irmão,
45 until the turning away of the anger of thy brother from thee, and he forget what thou hast done to him, and I send and fetch thee from thence. Wherefore should I lose, you both, in one day?
45 e ele esqueça aquilo que você lhe fez. Nessa ocasião eu mandarei alguém para trazer você de volta. Não quero perder os meus dois filhos num dia só!
46 So then Rebekah said unto Isaac, I am disgusted with my life because of the daughters of Heth,Should Jacob be taking a wife of the daughters of Heth, like these, of the daughters of the land, wherefore could I wish for life?
46 Depois Rebeca foi falar com Isaque e disse: — Estou aborrecida da vida por causa dessas mulheres heteias com quem Esaú casou. Se Jacó também casar com uma dessas heteias, será melhor que eu morra.
