1 Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocationmen and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.
1 Ora, quando Esdras orou e quando ele confessou chorando e lançando-se ao chão diante da casa de Deus, ajuntou-se ali com ele uma mui grande congregação de homens e mulheres e crianças de Israel; porque o povo chorava mui amargamente.
2 Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land,yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.
2 E Secanias, o filho de Jeiel, um dos filhos de Elão, disse a Esdras: Temos transgredido contra o nosso Deus, e temos tomado esposas estranhas do povo da terra; todavia agora há esperança em Israel acerca desta coisa.
3 Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our Godto put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God,and, according to the law, let it be done.
3 Agora, portanto, façamos um pacto com o nosso Deus para despedirmos todas as esposas, e os que delas são nascidos, de acordo com o conselho do meu senhor, e daqueles que tremem diante do mandamento do nosso Deus; e faça-se segundo a lei.
4 Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee,be strong, and act.
4 Levanta-te; pois a ti pertence esta questão; nós também estaremos contigo; sê de boa coragem, e faze-o.
5 Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this wordand they sware.
5 Então, levantou-se Esdras, e ajuramentou os sumos sacerdotes, os levitas e todo o Israel, de que eles fariam de acordo com esta palavra. E eles juraram.
6 Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib,and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.
6 Então, Esdras se levantou de diante da casa de Deus, e adentrou a câmara de Joanã, o filho de Eliasibe; e quando chegou ali, ele não comeu pão, nem bebeu água; porque se lamentava por causa da transgressão daqueles que haviam sido levados.
7 Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
7 E eles fizeram proclamação por todo o Judá e em Jerusalém, a todos os filhos do cativeiro, para que todos eles se reunissem em Jerusalém;
8 and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted,and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.
8 e que todo aquele que não viesse dentro de três dias, de acordo com o conselho dos príncipes e dos anciãos, todos os seus bens deveriam ser confiscados, e ele seria separado da congregação daqueles que tinham sido levados.
9 Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month,and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.
9 Então, todos os homens de Judá e de Benjamim se reuniram em Jerusalém dentro de três dias. Era o nono mês, no vigésimo dia do mês; e todo o povo assentava-se na rua da casa de Deus, tremendo por causa desta questão, e por causa da grande chuva.
10 Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women,to add unto the guilt of Israel.
10 E o sacerdote Esdras pôs-se em pé, e disse-lhes: Vós tendes transgredido, e tendes tomado esposas estrangeiras, aumentando a transgressão de Israel.
11 Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure,and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.
11 Agora, portanto, fazei confissão ao SENHOR Deus dos vossos pais, e fazei a sua vontade; e separai-vos dos povos da terra, e das esposas estrangeiras.
12 Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice,Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.
12 Então toda a congregação respondeu e disse em voz alta: Como disseste, assim nós devemos fazer.
13 Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside,and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.
13 Porém, o povo é muito, e é um tempo de muita chuva, e não conseguimos ficar de pé na parte de fora, nem é isto uma obra de um dia ou dois; porque somos muitos que temos transgredido nesta questão.
14 Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.
14 Que, agora, levantem-se os nossos governantes de todas as congregações, e que todos os que têm tomado esposas estrangeiras em nossas cidades venham em tempos estabelecidos, e com eles os anciãos de toda cidade, e os seus juízes, até que seja desviada de nós a ira ardente do nosso Deus por esta questão.
15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this,and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.
15 Somente Jônatas, o filho de Asael, e Jazeías, o filho de Ticva, foram empregados nesta questão; e Mesulão e Sabetai, o levita, os ajudaram.
16 But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain menancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name,and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;
16 E assim fizeram os filhos do cativeiro. E Esdras, o sacerdote, com alguns chefes dos pais, segundo a casa dos seus pais, e todos eles pelos seus nomes, foram separados, e se assentaram no primeiro dia do décimo mês para examinar a questão.
17 and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women,by the first day of the first month.
17 E eles concluíram com todos os homens que haviam tomado esposas estrangeiras no primeiro dia do primeiro mês.
18 Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women,of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;
18 E entre os filhos dos sacerdotes foram achados quem tinha tomado esposas estrangeiras, a saber; dos filhos de Jesuá, o filho de Jozadaque, e os seus irmãos, Maaseias, e Eliézer, e Jaribe, e Gedalias.
19 and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives,and, being guilty, a ram of the flock for their guilt.
19 E deram-se as mãos, prometendo que despediriam as suas esposas; e sendo culpados, eles ofereceram um carneiro do rebanho pela sua transgressão.
20 And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.
20 E dos filhos de Imer: Hanani e Zebadias.
21 And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
21 E dos filhos de Harim: Maaseias, e Elias, e Semaías, e Jeiel, e Uzias.
22 And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.
22 E dos filhos de Pasur: Elioenai, Maaseias, Ismael, Nataneel, Jozabade e Elasa.
23 And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
23 Também dos levitas: Jozabade, e Simei, e Quelaías (este é Quelita), e Petaías, Judá, e Eliézer.
24 And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.
24 Também dos cantores: Eliasibe; e dos porteiros: Salum, e Telém, e Uri.
25 And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
25 Além disso, de Israel, dos filhos de Parós: Ramias, e Jezias, e Malquias, e Miamim, e Eleazar, e Malquias, e Benaia.
26 And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.
26 E dos filhos de Elão: Matanias, e Zacarias, e Jeiel, e Abdi, e Jeremote, e Elias.
27 And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
27 E dos filhos de Zatu: Elioenai, Eliasibe, Matanias, e Jeremote, e Zabade, e Aziza.
28 And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.
28 E também dos filhos de Bebai: Joanã, Hananias, Zabai e Atlai.
29 And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.
29 E dos filhos de Bani: Mesulão, Maluque, e Adaías, Jasube, e Seal, e Jeremote.
30 And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal,Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
30 E dos filhos de Paate-Moabe: Adna, e Quelal, Benaia, Maaseias, e Matanias, e Bezalel, e Binui, e Manassés.
31 And, the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;
31 E dos filhos de Harim: Eliézer, Issias, Malquias, Semaías, Simeão,
32 Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.
32 Benjamim, Maluque e Semarias.
33 Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet,Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.
33 Dos filhos de Hasum: Matenai, Matatá, Zabade, Elifelete, Jeremai, Manassés e Simei.
34 Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;
34 Dos filhos de Bani: Maadai, Anrão, e Uel,
35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;
35 Benaia, Bedias, Queluí,
36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;
36 Vanias, Meremote, Eliasibe,
37 Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;
37 Matanias, Matenai, e Jaasai,
38 and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;

39 and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;

43 Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina,Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.
43 Dos filhos de Nebo: Jeiel, Matitias, Zabade, Zebina, Jadai, e Joel, Benaia.
44 All these, had taken foreign women,and had begotten of them children.
44 Todos estes haviam tomado esposas estrangeiras; e alguns deles tinham esposa de quem tiveram filhos.
