1 Then said Ahithophel unto Absolom: I pray thee, let me choose for myself, twelve thousand men, and arise, and pursue David to-night;
1 Além disso, Aitofel disse a Absalão: Deixa com que eu escolha, agora, doze mil homens, e eu me levantarei e perseguirei Davi esta noite;
2 and let me come upon him, when, he, is weary, and weak-handed, so shall I strike him with terror, and all the people who are with him shall flee,then will I smite the king alone:
2 e eu lhe sobrevirei enquanto ele está exausto e com a mão fragilizada, e fá-lo-ei temoroso; e todo o povo que está com ele fugirá; e eu ferirei somente o rei;
3 that I may bring back all the people unto thee,when all return the man whom thou art seeking, all the people, will be at peace.
3 e eu trarei de volta a ti todo o povo; o homem ao qual tu buscas é como se todos retornassem; assim todo o povo estará em paz.
4 And the saying was right in the eyes of Absolom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel.
4 E o dizer mui agradou a Absalão, e a todos os anciãos de Israel.
5 Then said Absolom, I pray you, call ye Hushai the Archite also,and let us hear what is in, his, mouth, also.
5 Então disse Absalão: Chame, agora, também Husai, o arquita, e ouçamos do mesmo modo o que ele diz.
6 And, when Hushai came in unto Absolom, Absolom spake unto him, sayingAfter this manner, hath Ahithophel spoken, shall we do what he saith? if not, thou, speak.
6 E quando Husai chegou a Absalão, Absalão lhe falou, dizendo: Aitofel falou desta maneira: Devemos proceder conforme o seu dizer? Caso não, fala tu.
7 Then said Hushai unto Absolom,Not good, is the counsel that Ahithophel hath givenat this time.
7 E Husai disse a Absalão: O conselho que Aitofel deu não é bom nesta hora.
8 And Hushai saidThou, knowest thy father and his menthat, men of might, they are, and, embittered in soul, they are, like a bear bereaved of her young, in the field,thy father also, is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
8 Porque Husai disse: Tu conheces o teu pai e os seus homens, que são homens valentes, e estão amargurados nas suas mentes, como uma ursa cujos filhotes lhe foram roubados no campo; e o teu pai é um homem de guerra, e não se alojará com o povo.
9 Lo! by this time, hath, he, hidden himself in some pit, or other place,and it shall be, as soon as he falleth upon them at the first, that he that hearkeneth for tidings will hear , and will sayThere is a defeat among the people that are following Absolom:
9 Eis que agora ele está escondido em algum fosso, ou em algum outro lugar; e será que, quando alguns forem derrubados inicialmente, quem quer que ouvir isto dirá: Há um massacre entre o povo que segue Absalão.
10 then will, even the son of valour himself, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, utterly melt,for all Israel do know that, a man of might, is thy father, and that, sons of valour, are they who are with him.
10 E também aquele que for valente, cujo coração for como o coração de um leão, derreter-se-á por completo; porque todo o Israel sabe que o teu pai é um homem valente, e aqueles que estão com ele são homens valentes.
11 Therefore I counselthat there be a general gathering together unto thee of all Israel, from Dan even unto Beer-sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude,and that, thine own presence, be going on in their midst.
11 Portanto, eu aconselho que todo o Israel se reúna a ti, desde Dã até Berseba, como a areia que está junto ao mar em multidão; e que tu saias pessoalmente em batalha.
12 So shall we come upon him in some place where he hath been found, yea, we, shall be upon him, as when the dew falleth upon the ground,and there shall not be left of him, or of the men that are with him, so much as one.
12 Assim, viremos sobre ele em algum lugar onde ele será achado, e nos lançaremos sobre ele como o orvalho cai sobre o solo; e dele e de todos os homens que estão com ele não restará nada mais do que um.
13 But, if, into a city, he withdraw, then will all Israel bring up unto that city, ropes,and we will drag it down unto the ravine, until there be not found in that place, so much as a small stone.
13 Além disso, se ele for retido em uma cidade, então todo o Israel trará cordas àquela cidade, e nós a arrastaremos para o rio, até que nela não haja mais nem uma pedrinha.
14 Then said Absolom and all the men of Israel, Better, is the counsel of Hushai the Archite, than the counsel of Ahithophel. Yahweh, indeed, had given charge to frustrate the wise counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Yahweh might bring upon Absolom, ruin.
14 E Absalão e todos os homens de Israel disseram: O conselho de Husai, o arquita, é melhor do que o conselho de Aitofel. Porque o SENHOR ordenou a derrota do bom conselho de Aitofel, com o intento de que o SENHOR pudesse trazer o mal sobre Absalão.
15 So Hushai said unto Zadok and unto Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus, did Ahithophel counsel Absolom and the elders of Israel,and, thus and thus, have, I, counselled.
15 Então disse Husai a Zadoque e a Abiatar, os sacerdotes: Assim e assim Aitofel aconselhou Absalão e os anciãos de Israel; e assim e assim tenho eu aconselhado.
16 Now, therefore, send quickly, and tell David, saying,Do not lodge to-night in the waste plains of the wilderness, thou must, even pass over, lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people who are with him.
16 Agora, portanto, enviai rapidamente, e contai a Davi, dizendo: Não te alojes nesta noite nas planícies do deserto, mas atravessa depressa; para que o rei não seja engolido, e todo o povo que está com ele.
17 Now, Jonathan and Ahimaaz, were staying by En-rogel, and a maidservant was to go and tell them, and, they, were to go and tell King David,for they might not be seen to eater the city.
17 Ora, Jônatas e Aimaás permaneceram em En-Rogel; porque eles não poderiam ser vistos entrando na cidade; e uma criada foi e lhes contou; e eles foram e contaram ao rei Davi.
18 And, though a young man did see them, and told Absolom, yet they both departed quickly, and entered the house of a man in Bahurim, and, he, had a well in his court, into which they went down;
18 Todavia, um moço os viu e contou a Absalão; mas os dois se foram rapidamente, e chegaram à casa de um homem em Baurim, o qual tinha um poço no seu pátio, no qual eles desceram.
19 and the woman took and spread the cover over the face of the well, and spread thereon her pounded corn,so nothing was known.
19 E a mulher tomou e espalhou uma cobertura sobre a boca do poço, e espalhou sobre ela cereal do chão; e a coisa não era percebida.
20 Then came the servants of Absolom unto the woman in the house, and saidWhere are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to themThey have passed over the stream of water. And, when they had searched and not found, they returned to Jerusalem.
20 E quando os servos de Absalão chegaram à mulher na casa, eles disseram: Onde está Aimaás e Jônatas? E a mulher disse a eles: Eles passaram por cima do regato de água. E quando procuraram e não conseguiram encontrá-los, eles retornaram a Jerusalém.
21 And it came to pass, after those had gone, that these came up out of the well, and went, and told King David,and said unto David,Arise ye and pass quickly over the water, for, thus and thus, hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
21 E sucedeu que, depois que eles partiram, eles saíram do poço, e foram e falaram ao rei Davi, e disseram a Davi: Levanta-te e passa depressa sobre a água; porquanto assim Aitofel aconselhou contra ti.
22 So David arose, and all the people who were with him, and passed over the Jordan, by the morning light, so much as one, was not lacking, who had not passed over the Jordan.
22 Então Davi se levantou, e todo o povo que estava com ele, e eles atravessaram o Jordão; pela luz da manhã não faltava ali nenhum deles que não houvesse atravessado o Jordão.
23 Now, when, Ahithophel, saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose and went unto his own house, unto his own city, and gave charge unto his household, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the grave of his father.
23 E quando Aitofel viu que o seu conselho não fora seguido, ele selou o seu jumento, e se levantou, e o levou para a sua casa, para a sua cidade, e pôs a sua casa em ordem, e se enforcou, e morreu, e foi enterrado no sepulcro do seu pai.
24 When, David, had come to Mahanaim, Absolom, had passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
24 Então Davi veio até Maanaim. E Absalão atravessou o Jordão, ele e todos os homens de Israel com ele.
25 Now Absolom had appointed, Amasa, instead of Joab, over the army,Amasa, being the son of a man whose name was Ithra the Ishmaelite, who went in unto Abigail, daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother of Joab.
25 E Absalão constitui Amasa capitão do exército em lugar de Joabe; esse Amasa era filho de um homem cujo nome era Itra, um israelita, que entrou em Abigail, filha de Naás, irmã de Zeruia, mãe de Joabe.
26 And Israel and Absolom encamped in the land of Gilead.
26 Assim, Israel e Absalão acamparam na terra de Gileade.
27 And it came to pass, when David entered Mahanaim, that Shobi son of Nahash of Rabbah of the sons of Ammon and Machir son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, of Rogelim,
27 E sucedeu que, quando Davi havia chegado a Maanaim, Sobi, o filho de Naás de Rabá, dos filhos de Amom, e Maquir, o filho de Amiel de Lo-Debar, e Barzilai, o gileadita de Rogelim,
28 brought, sleeping rugs, and basins, and earthen vessels, and wheat and barley, and meal and roasted corn,and beans and lentils, and parched pulse;
28 trouxeram camas, e bacias, e vasos de barro, e trigo, e cevada, e farinha, e cereal tostado, e feijões, e lentilhas, e legumes tostados,
29 and honey and cream, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat,for they said, The people, are hungry and weary and thirsty, in the wilderness.
29 e mel, e manteiga, e ovelhas e queijo de vacas para Davi, e para o povo que estava com ele comer; porquanto disseram: O povo está faminto, exausto e sedento no deserto.
