1 And Joab, son of Zeruiah, perceived that the heart of the king was towards Absolom.
1 Joab, filho de Sarvia, percebendo que o coração do rei {se voltava de novo} para Absalão,
2 So Joab sent to Tekoa, and fetched from thence, a wise woman,and said unto herI pray thee, feign thyself a mourner, and put on, I pray thee, mourning apparel, and do not anoint thyself with oil, but be as a woman that hath, these many days, been mourning for the dead;
2 mandou vir de Técua uma mulher habilidosa e disse-lhe: Põe-te de luto; toma vestes de luto e não te unjas, para pareceres uma mulher que chora um morto há muito tempo.
3 so shalt thou come in unto the king, and speak unto him, after this manner. And Joab put the words in her mouth.
3 Virás então ter com o rei e lhe falarás assim e assim. E Joab sugeriu-lhe o que ela devia dizer.
4 And, when the woman of Tekoa came in unto the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did homage,and saidSave, O king!
4 A mulher veio, pois, de Técua, e apresentou-se ao rei; lançou-se por terra e prostrou-se, dizendo: Salva-me, ó rei, salva-me!
5 And the king said to herWhat aileth thee? And she saidOf a truth, a widow woman, am I, for my husband is dead.
5 O rei disse-lhe: Que tens? Ai de mim, disse ela, sou uma viúva. Meu marido morreu.
6 Now, thy maidservant, had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, with none to tear them apart,so the one smote the other, and slew him.
6 Tua serva tinha dois filhos. Brigaram no campo, e não havendo quem os separasse, um deles feriu o outro e matou-o.
7 Lo! therefore, all the family hath risen up against thy maidservant, and have said: Give up him that hath smitten his brother, that we may put him to death, for the life of his brother, whom he hath slain, that we may destroy, the heir also. So will they quench my ember that is left, and make my husband without name or remainder, on the face of the ground.
7 E eis que agora se levanta contra a tua serva toda a família, dizendo-lhe: dá-nos o fratricida, para o matarmos em castigo do sangue do irmão que ele matou, e exterminaremos o herdeiro. Querem assim apagar a última brasa que me resta, de modo que não se conserve de meu marido nem nome, nem posteridade na terra.
8 And the king said unto the womanGo to thy house, and, I, will give command concerning thee.
8 O rei disse à mulher: Volta para a tua casa; tomarei providências a teu respeito.
9 Then said the woman of Tekoa unto the king, Upon me, my lord, O king, be the iniquity, and upon the house of my father, but, the king and his throne, be guiltless.
9 Mas a mulher de Técua disse ao rei: Sobre mim, e não sobre a casa de meu pai recaia a culpa; o rei e o seu trono serão inocentes.
10 And the king said,He that speaketh unto thee, bring him in unto me, and he shall, no more, annoy thee.
10 O rei disse-lhe: Se alguém te ameaçar, traze-o à minha presença, e ele não te incomodará mais.
11 Then said she: Let the king, I pray thee, remember Yahweh thy God; so that the blood-redeemer may not make utter ruin, and that they destroy not my son. And he saidBy the life of Yahweh, not one hair of thy son shall fall to the earth.
11 Ela ajuntou: Queira o rei lembrar-se do Senhor, seu Deus, para que o vingador do sangue não agrave a desgraça, matando o meu filho! Pela vida de Deus, disse ele, não cairá um só cabelo da cabeça de teu filho!
12 Then said the woman, Pray let thy maidservant speak unto my lord the king, a word. And he saidSpeak.
12 A mulher então disse: Permite que a tua serva diga uma palavra ao rei, meu senhor? Fala.
13 And the woman said, Wherefore, then, hast thou devised the like of this, for the people of God; and yet the king, in speaking this word, is verily guilty, unless the king, bring back his fugitive?
13 Por que, pois, pensas fazer o mesmo contra o povo do Senhor? Pronunciando essa sentença, o rei se confessa culpado, pelo fato de não se lembrar daquele que desterrou.
14 For, when we, die, we become as water poured on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again,therefore doth God not take away the life, but deviseth plans so as not to thrust out from him, a fugitive.
14 Quando morremos, somos como a água que não mais se pode recolher, uma vez derramada por terra. Deus não faz voltar uma alma. Cuide, pois, o rei, que o banido não fique mais exilado longe dele.
15 Now, therefore, that I have come to speak unto the king my lord this word, because the people kept putting me in fear,so thy maidservant saidDo let me, I pray you, speak unto the king! peradventure the king will fulfil the request of his handmaid.
15 Se eu vim falar desse assunto ao rei, foi porque o povo me aterrou. A tua serva disse: falarei ao rei: talvez o rei faça o que eu lhe pedir;
16 For the king can hearken, to rescue his handmaid out of the power of the man who would seek to destroy both me and my son together, out of the inheritance of God.
16 sim, o rei me ouvirá e livrar-me-á da mão do homem que procura excluir-nos, a mim o meu filho, da herança do Senhor.
17 So thy maidservant said, Pray let the word of my lord the king be comforting,for, as the messenger of God, so is my lord the king, in hearing the good and the bad, Yahweh thy God, then, be with thee.
17 Que o rei, ajuntou ela, se digne pronunciar uma palavra de paz, porque o rei, meu senhor, é como um anjo de Deus para discernir o bem do mal. Que o senhor, teu Deus, seja contigo!
18 Then responded the king, and said unto the woman, Nay, now! do not hide from me, the thing which I am about to ask thee. And the woman said, Pray let my lord the king speak.
18 O rei disse à mulher: Não me escondas nada do que te vou perguntar. A mulher respondeu: Que o rei, meu senhor, fale.
19 Then said the king, Is, the hand of Joab, with thee, in all this? And the woman answered and saidBy the life of thy soul, my lord, O king, there is no way to the right or to the left, of anything that my lord the king hath spoken, for, thy servant Joab himself, charged me, and, himself, put, in the mouth of thy maidservant, all these words:
19 Não anda a mão de Joab contigo em tudo isso? Por tua vida, respondeu-lhe ela, não se pode desviar para nenhum lado o que o rei acaba de dizer! Sim, foi o teu servo Joab quem me deu instruções e sugeriu à tua serva tudo o que ela disse.
20 for the purpose of turning round the face of the matter, hath thy servant Joab done this thing,my lord being wise, as with the wisdom of a messenger of God, in knowing all that is
20 Foi para dar a esse assunto uma nova feição que Joab fez isso. Porém tu, ó rei, meu senhor, és tão sábio como um anjo de Deus, para saber tudo o que se passa na terra!
21 Then said the king unto Joab, See, I pray thee, I a have done this thing,go thenbring back the young man, Absolom.
21 O rei disse a Joab: A coisa está decidida. Vai, traze o jovem Absalão!
22 So Joab fell with his face to the earth, and did homage, and blessed the king,and Joab saidTo-day, doth thy servant know, that I have found favour in thine eyes, my lord O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of thy servant.
22 Joab prostrou-se com o rosto por terra, e abençoou o rei, dizendo: Agora o teu servo reconhece que ganhou o teu favor, ó rei, meu senhor, pois que o rei cumpriu o desejo de seu servo!
23 And Joab arose, and went to Geshur,and brought Absolom to Jerusalem.
23 Joab foi a Gessur e trouxe Absalão para Jerusalém.
24 And the king saidLet him go round to his own house, and, my face, let him not see. So Absolom went round, unto his own house, and, the face of the king, saw he not.
24 Mas o rei disse: Que ele vá para a sua casa, pois não será admitido à minha presença! Absalão retirou-se para a sua casa, e não se apresentou diante do rei.
25 Now, like unto Absolom, was there no man handsome in all Israel, to be greatly praised,from the sole of his foot, even unto the crown of his head, there was not, in him, a blemish.
25 Não havia em todo o Israel homem mais belo que Absalão, e que fosse tão admirado como ele. Da cabeça aos pés, não havia nele defeito algum.
26 And when he polled his headand it was at every years end that he used to poll it, because it was heavy upon him, therefore he used to poll ithe would weigh the hair of his head, two hundred shekels, by the royal standard.
26 Quando cortava o cabelo - o que fazia a cada ano, porque sua cabeleira se tornava por demais pesada -, o peso deste era de duzentos siclos, pelo peso real.
27 And there were born to Absolom three sons, and one daughter, whose name, was Tamar,she, was a woman beautiful to look upon.
27 Nasceram-lhe três filhos e uma filha, chamada Tamar, que era de grande beleza.
28 So Absolom dwelt in Jerusalem two years of days,and, the face of the king, had he not seen.
28 Absalão permaneceu em Jerusalém dois anos antes de ser admitido à presença do rei.
29 Then sent Absolom unto Joab, to send him unto the king, but he would not come to him,so he sent yet a second time, but he would not come.
29 Mandou chamar Joab para mandá-lo ao rei, mas ele não quis vir. Chamou-o uma segunda vez, e ele recusou-se de novo.
30 Then said he unto his servantsSee, the allotted portion of Joab, adjoineth me, and, he, hath barley there, go, and set it on fire. So the servants of Absolom set the portion on fire.
30 Disse então Absalão aos seus servos: Vedes o campo de Joab ao lado do meu, semeado de cevada? Ide e lançai-lhe fogo. Os servos de Absalão incendiaram o campo. Os servos de Joab foram ter com ele, rasgadas as suas vestes, e disseram-lhe: Os homens de Absalão incendiaram o teu campo.
31 Then rose Joab, and went unto Absolom, in his house,and said unto him, Wherefore, have thy servants set the portion that pertaineth to me, on fire?
31 Joab foi então à casa de Absalão, e disse: Por que incendiaram os teus homens o meu campo?
32 And Absolom said unto JoabLo! I sent unto thee, sayingCome hither, that I may send thee unto the king, sayingWherefore, am I come from Geshur? I, might as well have yet been there. Now, therefore, let me see the face of the king, and, if there is in me iniquity, then let him put me to death.
32 Absalão respondeu: Eu te mandara chamar, dizendo: vem, pois quero enviar-te ao rei para dizer-lhe: por que vim eu de Gessur? Seria melhor ter ficado lá. Quero ser admitido à presença do rei; se sou culpado, que me matem!
33 So Joab came unto the king, and told him, and the king called for Absolom, and he came in unto the king, and bowed himself down with his face to the ground, before the king,and the king kissed Absolom.
33 Joab foi ter com o rei e contou-lhe tudo. Absalão foi chamado, entrou à presença do rei e prostrou-se diante dele com o rosto por terra. E o rei o beijou.
